Thank you Dave. You speak clearly and slowly enough to follow the steps. I realized that the orange light ring needs to be rotating around for set up. And if the ring is red and solid, then the mic is turned off. I reset it all and it's now working.

Dave, your video describes my problem perfectly. However, the App on my phone does not give me the option of "wi-fi" on the Echo that is offline. When I open it, under my name the first section is "Connected Devices", which under that is the subwoofer.
I even deleted the app and reinstalled it. Same problem. My phone is about five years old, could that be the problem?

*Most important step - before getting into the setup mode for changing wifi you must turn on your location/gps on your mobile/tablet on which you are using Alexa.
Without turning on location you will be stuck and could never change your network.

We have long resisted getting an Echo. Never really saw a need. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB When we recently completed some remodeling in our home, we realized we had failed to add a switch to turn on a certain lamp across the room. We couldn't run new wiring (which would have been expensive if we could), so we got our first Echo which completely solved our problem for about $40 (Echo Dot and smart plug). We just ask Alexa to turn on/off that light. Heartily recommend it to solve this kind of conundrum!

Thank you so much! I am in my 60s and didn't grow up with all this tech but your walk-through has meant I could connect my devices. I have a few health conditions and probably the most impactful is called SCVD [Small CerebroVascular Disease] and it means I get easily confused and have memory issues. My devices are actually my aids as I have medication meals and drinks [and even bedtimes] prompts that I have timetabled into my devices. I also use them to remind me of appointments and important events I would otherwise forget. Thank you for enabling me to get all this back up and running.

  • @timdolan4591

Not sure if this works when you have changed the Password on an existing SSID. I had to let the Alexa connection process fail then I would be able to "forget" the previous SSID network (at the Alexa install level) Do a re-choose SSID , then physically type / paste in my robust password. I could not invoke the "saved to Amazon". I have a few alexa devices - not so much fun. Perhaps an user "challenge"

Nevertheless, your instructions solved the connection issue. It can now operate other Wi-Fi products. In fact, it’s just put the kettle on. Thank you Jase.

The newest one, which I have just bought, has resumed normal function - for example opening BBC Sounds etc, but the old one (2018) doesn't obey orders and won't open Sounds or Global Player, but insists on playing unrelated music it seems to guess at. I've disconnected everything more than once and gone through the set up process again, but to no avail. Can you help? Thanks! Stuart
