*"Your selfishness is going to be the end of it all. Do you not understand?"* *"I already told you! I don't mind playing the bad guy every once in a while!"*
I love that Sonic is essentially fighting his philosophical antithesis here, and that Black Knight probably has the most character development for Sonic himself. It reveals to us the "why" in his fight, and as one commenter one time put it, "Sonic's philosophy becomes less 'Gotta go fast' and more 'Gotta do what I gotta do, and fast.'" What universe have I found myself in where a niche spin-off Sonic game evokes deep philosophical thought about life and mortality?
The same one where we got a cyborg ninja with magnetic powers and is 3 edges away from being a sonic oc talking about how the ideals of a person can shape our society
Everything comes to an end someday, so make the most of it. Kind of a hard life lesson to swallow for some people. And a character like Sonic has this ideology. I miss this kind of character telling of Sonic.
Yeah, it sounds cringe to the people who don't understand how Sonic talks... but putting it in normal terms instead of how Sonic normally talks, he's basically just saying; "Everything dies eventually, you just have to accept that." ...also, it was probably phrased that way because they still had to get the age rating they wanted. People like to hate on this era of Sonic but it genuinely had some great stories and amazing lines (let's be honest, the great stories are mostly held back by the gameplay more than anything)
My grandparents died when I was a kid. The knowledge that you will be here one day and gone the next was traumatizing for me as a 5 year old. For most of my young life, I struggled with existential death anxiety, even during my play through of this game. Sonic’s outlook of living life to its fullest because your time *is* limited really spoke to me, and frankly still does. To me, it translates to “do what you want as often as you can”. Want to spend an entire day playing video games? Go for it! Want to try your hand at skydiving? Do that too! Do what you wish for as long as you can, because one day, you won’t be able to. Thanks Sonic.
That’s what I do 😂 I’m so pathetic, cuz everytime I get a sonic game, I hope in my mind before playing the game that the music is catchy 💀 Cuz if the music is not catchy then I don’t like the game
An anthropomorphic blue cartoon hedgehog conversing with the literal queen of fucking evil and all things darkness about the fact that we can't prevent death, as well as how someday everything that we cherish will come to an end eventually, and that we should do with our limited time what makes us feel complete, and treasure those experiences. This spinoff storytale series has no right having stories as thought provoking as this. Especially not in a Sonic game. I love it.
I think the best part is that in the previous game he stopped an evil Genie from destroying a world to soon so he litteraly will stop the worst from happening then go off and stop someone from overdoing it
This is the Sonic we needed a brave, determined, blue speedster dedicated to saving any world. Not a blue hedgehog trying to act cool and make cheesy puns and has no personality. THIS GAME GOT SONIC RIGHT
This games final boss is one of the emotionally deepest in the series. Summing it up to it's bare components, Sonic is fighting someone who's just afraid to die, and is willing to go to the extreme to make sure that she, as well as the people she loves, don't.
Funnily enough, I think the thing that drives this point home is the final boss of The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, where SPOILERS FOR ONE OF THE BEST GAMES IN THE SONIC FRANCHISE (fight me): The main antagonist in The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog is just a being that is afraid to lose its only friend. It doesn't want things to end, and *it's willing to hurt others to get it.* Which sonic defines as selfishness. Both Merlina and The Train are experiencing perfectly natural emotions and real pain, but they then inflict pain on others to get what they want, and when people are getting hurt, Sonic steps up to stop you, no matter how lofty your intentions are, or what you're going through. Hurting others is wrong.
@@micopen6719 The character analysis between the two games is interesting considering Black Knight was the last game we got of the Jason Griffith era. Roger's Sonic and Jason's Sonic both have fundamentally different perspectives on things, and it shows Sonic's progression as a character away from being a flawless protagonist. Jason's Sonic has a hero complex, but also a certain gentleness to him. He extends a hand of mercy to his foes, sparing even the likes of Merlina who wanted to end an entire world. Roger's Sonic on the other hand has a much more forceful approach to things. He's sick and tired of those who would lash out against others because of their own feelings, and is done showing them sympathy. That gentle side to him that he showed to his enemies is gone, as though his inner innocence is eroding away. If you become a threat to him or his friends, he's going to lay the smack down on you. Your happy ending is forfeit.
@@Crow_Rising Huh. While I prefer Jason's Sonic (in both character and voice), the idea behind Roger's Sonic ain't half bad. A more cynical take on the character, who, as he gets older, realizes that he can't always play the hero, and that some people just aren't worth it, and because of this, he garners a more rash personality because of it. It's kinda like he's aging with you and he's realizing that a lot of the world isn't black and white.
I didn't get this for a long time, but then I realized what Sonic is fighting against. Merlina wants to create a world that never ends, which is by definition a world that never changes. A world of Order and Stasis. What does Sonic represent? Chaos and Freedom. Ever since day one, Sonic has been fighting against the negative aspects of order (Eggman turning animals into robotic slaves) and he's never once wavered in his belief in freedom. So even if that means he needs to cause a world to end, Sonic is sticking by his guns. After all, what's the point of a world that never changes. Thank you Michael Moorcock for popularizing Order versus Chaos.
It's strange to hear a snarky oversized cartoon hedgehog talk against immortality and explain how life should be treasured because of your time being limited.
@@megaman15ish nah I'd say "what I'm made of" takes that spot on that the lyrics are so cool. Filled with that "you picked the wrong fight" vibe and how much of a seasoned warrior sonic is
I kinda miss the edge era Sonic was in. Yeah I get he's a cartoon character and all but one thing that separated him from Mario was that he HAD edge. You wouldn't get this kind of ridiculousness yet charming part of Sonic from Mario. Games like Adventure 2, Shadow the Hedgehog, Secret Rings, Black Knight, etc. all gave me hype moments cuz it had edge. It felt cool. And I still think it does... Then again, the first game I got was Shadow the Hedgehog so......
JJ C you have a good point, and the last we saw Mario kinda edgy was in a football game, which was cool compared to those recycled Tennis and Golf, I wish Mario Sports had more variety, like a Mario Sports Mix.
I don’t think critics and sonic haters realise that sonic was always edgy. Saying that “the classic games were always good because they were simple and not edgy” shows how little research they do. sonic was marketed as cooler than everyone else, and now sega is too scared to do anything like this ever again because of critics.
Milky. Not really. Sonic was meant to be lighthearted & fun with cheezy dialogs than just being all dark & edgy. Yeah. Some dark storytelling can work. But not in an stupidest way like whatever Shadow the Hedgehog or Sonic 06 failed to tell an story. This is Sonic the Hedgehog. Not Final Fantasy or Mega Man X series.
JJ C I don’t mean edgy as in dark like shadow the hedgehog I mean edgy as in takes itself seriously. Sonic has an iconic edge that makes it so unique and different from all the other mascots which was what made him “the cooler” videogame back in the 90s. it’s been a staple of the franchise but the modern games from 2011 to onwards forget that.

@@ajrod3047 Yeah, blew my mind that Marty Friedman performed lead guitars on a Sonic track lol. Megadeth's my favourite band, and Sonic Adventure's Open Your Heart was my gateway into liking heavier music, so it was pretty surreal.
Black Knight is honestly the pinnacle of Sonic's character: he's a guy that loves adventure, freedom, and being a friend to those in need, occasionally throwing the one-liner and tease depending on the situation, namely when he's confronting Eggman or if he's confident in a situation. If only Pontac and Graff knew this about Sonic's character because in the meta era titles, Sonic's character is literally stripped of this sense of taking a situation seriously when need be or being a rebel that's willing to blow off something important if it means lending a helping hand, and what we have is a loud-mouthed, abrasive, overly confident, and obnoxious character that won't shut up and doesn't take things seriously; a shell of his former self. Here's hoping Sonic Frontiers changes this, especially with Ian Flynn as the new writer.
Good news, Frontiers Sonic is pretty close to this. He wise cracks, but he's got that sense of adventure and was literally fighting to save his friends until he couldn't even move any more. Here's to hoping if they continue the Frontiers style format for...Everything, with obviously more polish, we enter a Redemption Era.
God these lyrics are perfect for Merlina. With them are her motivation in the battle as well her relationship with Sonic. She was someone Sonic didn’t even consider her to be, wrapped up in something she admits to be evil. That last part is amazing, as it shows she knows she’s in the wrong. It’s why Sonic is able to get her to stop and talk to her after the battle, she knows deep down she’s wrong.

The last Sonic game with a final boss vocal track 14 years later... Frontiers: You held on pretty well, kid. You've earned that must needed rest now. I'll take it from here.
I mean, if we count that the main themes in Unleashed and Colors are vocal but they're lyricless in the boss version... That's not true at all. But i prefer to think what you think, pal :D
Once my brother almost beat Merlina in one attack, but then he turned the Wii off and back on because he thought he had broke the game, he hasn't been able to pull it off sense from what I know.
Doudoussin No, this is a mediocre game for those who care about Sonic. It isn't amazing, but its still in the upper half of Sonic games in my opinion. I'd much rather play this than Sonic the Hedgehog Episode 4, for instance
So today I just found out that Marty Friedman plays the lead guitar on this track. I first played this game in elementary school and I became a huge Megadeth fan in High School so this is just mind blowing to me
of course there's nothing Excalibur can't cut through It's considered the Blade of Evil's Bane for a reason. sure the Legend of Zelda has Excalibur in it but it's usual name in those games is the Master Sword.
It's a shame that Sonic is "legally" not allowed to have dark stories and tones anymore according to critics yet they're the same people who eat it up when Mario has said dark stories and tones C'mon, let my blue boy have dark tones once in a while too ;~;
Of all the songs of final boss that has had the franchise, this is the most beautiful and most epic, I get the tears every time I replay the battle against the Dark Queen, those who are singing are Sonic and Merlina. With Me ... BEST SONIC FINAL BATTLE SONG EVER !!
This game is almost 10 yrs old now. Too bad it became one of the scapegoats for people to point out when they say "Sonic can't be edgy" When story in this game is arguably great. The gameplay gets repetitive very quickly, but i somehow find it more enjoyable than Colors and I've come back to this game time and time again for fun. it's on my "most played Sonic games" list below S3&K and Generations
to be fair i loved both secret rings and black knight from a narrative standpoint. in fact i think secret rings and black knight has the best stories of any sonic game. now gameplay on the other hand secret rings can go into a ditch
I definitely have come to REALLY appreciate any Sonic song, that has 2 versions of the vocals but this one has to be one of the most impactful ones to date. Crush 40 is awesome and all but the emotional side of the song is nailed here (lyrics help pull that off too).

People are arguing whether it’s Sonic or Merlina’s point of view I actually think it’s both, and not them talking back and forth. While we know Sonic’s in the right, both of them are fine with being called evil for the sake of their cause. For Sonic, he said so early in the game and before the fight so I’d say it’s pretty clear but for Merlina I think because she gets redeemed fairly quickly deep down she knows what she’s doing is only feeding into her own sorrow so she’s fine with calling herself the villain as well. Also minor things such as “I am, who you don’t think I am” Applies to Sonic by Merlina underestimating him and to Merlina because of her twist villain thing. “You know every world has its end” applies to Sonic, because that’s what he believes but to Merlina it’s more mockingly because she plans to end Sonic’s world. All of this makes this song not only a banger but also rather genius in my opinion. But I’m probably over analyzing things.
Since the song can apply to either perspective, I just consider the original Merlina's perspective because it is more tragic sounding, while the Crush40 version is Sonic's perspective because it is more serious and dark.
@@drkspnova I had another idea that’s probably less likely. What if they’re imagining each other singing the song to them? I’ll explain. While Sonic is perfectly fine with others calling himself the villain he also still believes what Merlina is doing is wrong. That being said the original version is a bit more upbeat and even a little snarky so it reflects Sonic’s own personality which means it’s the reverse for the Crush 40 version. I believe that Merlina always had the intelligence to believe Sonic was right because she was able to conduct this scheme of hers but lacked the emotional maturity to accept it which ends up leading to her downfall and is what he helps her with after the fight. So “Every world has to end.” Could be Sonic knowing this about her in the original version and what Merlina imagines him aggressively calling her out for in the Crush 40 one.
A bit disappointed that this track wasn't included in the Frontiers' jukebox but we at least got some Secret Rings and Black Knight representation which is more than I could ever hope for, these games are my childhood and I love them so much
"Why can you not understand how magnificent an everlasting kingdom would be?" "What I Can't understad is how you can call such a boring sounding place magnificent?"
As much as I love Sonic and the Black Knight... No. It isn't that underrated. Even all the good things don't make it easy for me to recommend to people, because if you aren't prepared for the controls, you're gonna have a bad time.
robert hagley "Hey, how do we make our game fun?" "Oh, how about good gameplay and nuanced storytelling and maybe some other stuff, like challenge?" "Challenge? Oh, make it impossible to control, I got ya". This game is emblematic of putting the challenge in the wrong place. Wrestling with controls isn't fun, it's just frustrating. When you intend perfectly well to do a thing, and the game's objectively awful controls prevent that, that's not a fault of the player. It's a fault of the game, and the people that made it. It's the game deciding "Oh, you're going to die now because you didn't WAGGLE THE FUCKING WII REMOTE HARD ENOUGH WHO MAKES FUCKING WAGGLE CONTROLS WHEN YOU COULD JUST AS EASILY MAKE IT A FUCKING BUTTON PRESS AND MAYBE THEN I'D BE ABLE TO ENJOY THE FUCKING GAME AND MAYBE IT'D BE A LITTLE MORE ACCESSIBLE TO A WIDER FUCKING AUDIENCE THAT ENJOYS BEATING GAMES WITHOUT THE CONTROLS TRYING TO FUCKING BEAT THEM JESUS FUCK. Oh, I did finish Black Knight by the way.
@@twinostrich8045 The control wasn't even that difficult, as matter of fact it wasn't difficult at all for the most part, it's actually quite simple, especially for a Wii only game. merlina in-game: i wish to preserve all the world around me because i do not see the point in nothing lasting forever and everything falling into obsolescence. my methods may be cruel or unorthodox but my cause is noble, and i'm one of few sonic the hedgehog antagonists that truly falls under grey morality. her final boss music: HEEHOO I'M EVIL
Well she did cause a lot destruction while using the power of the scabbard. Remember how sonic and the knights of the round table had to evacuate castle town?
I played this game as a little gremlin child and loved it, I was worried I was blinded by nostalgia before replaying this game, and while the gameplay can be monotonous and maddening at times, I enjoyed the godlike music and actually grew to like the sword combat, overall I'm happy to say I very much like this game!
Fun fact: there was something called a "Legendary Pack" that only came out in France (which is where i live) and the only thing that i remember, is that in this pack, there was a special Wii Accessory: Caliburn.. You could literally place The Wiimote in the handle and play with the blade, it was so frickin' sick. And im kinda sad that today, i don't know where my Caliburn went, probably in some old box or something like that. Im too lazy to search anyway lol.

Star Wars is cheesy, yet everyone loves Star Wars. Transformers Prime is what you might call edgy, yet it's one of the most popular TF shows to exist right along with the originals. Quite a few much loved shows, movies, and games are cheesy or edgy. I think too many people confuse "edge" with "depth". Just because a piece of media has cliches of some kind does not make it bad. I think the reason why Sonic has gotten this kind of reputation is because it took "taking itself seriously" to the extreme on multiple occasions and in very uncomfortable ways. And now because of that reputation SEGA has tried to reverse this problem and instead run into the issue in reverse. Now Sonic lacks any sort of edge to such an extreme that it outright mocks itself.
Its funny because even back in the classic days, they took itself seriously and those stories with the mentions of Gods, the mysteries of the islands, dimensions, ancient civilization wiped out, and even a connection between the rings and the emeralds(the original stories of those games not the west interpretation) that do leads to the adventure games and onwards. The only media of sonic back in the day that didn't was Adventures of Sonic the hedgehog. But yeah I agree with you.
@@lightgivemepower6425 The Classic era actually had a lot of depth for what it is. Look at Knuckles, for example, the plot of him being already the guardian of the emerald was there already. AND THE BEST PART IS THAT IT'S VISUAL STORYTELLING. YOU CAN S E E THE PROFECY MURALS OF SONIC AND EGGMAN ON THE WALLS.
This is it. This is the end of an era where Sonic writing could take itself seriously. There was no Baldy Nosehair, there was no overly edgy villain with a horrible backstory, there was no ”duh powa of fwindship can do anything” none of that. There was comedic but mostly serious writing. And we can tell that Sonic Team went all out on this one.
To be fair, the whole thing with "power of friendship" is fine on its own considering Heroes did it and it worked perfectly fine there - it was only bad in Forces because they felt the need to constantly have Sonic shove it down our throats throughout the entire game
this shows that video games made for children can still have deep though provoking themes for the adult audience instead of fart joke, disregard of the laws of physics that make f&f jealous, unfunny slapstick and the people responsible for publishing it shoving it down our throats despite everyone saying they don't like it with the cal-arts style that everyone is bored of by now
I'm glad more people are starting to appreciate this game for what it is lately, it's a really solid game that was bombed by reviewers and was held back a bit by the wiis motion controls.
Shadow and Infinite dueling for ultimate edge and Merlina is probably at a bar like: “I manipulated the protagonist to do what I want, wilted a flower because I could and got an epic song to boot. Why aren’t I in the conversation?” Scourge: “The game wasn’t that big of a success kid. Maybe if you get another chance. Even then, you gotta have the edge lord look and your boss fight has to be more difficult. What I’m saying is up your game.”

I don't care what anyone says, this game is incredible. It's story, graphics, characters, voice acting, characterization, character dynamics, music.... anything you can think of and it's all there. It's not one of the best Sonic games but man it's so fun and enjoyable. Some of the games quotes are some of the best quotes in the series... Sonic telling the listener (and Merlina) that life doesn't go on forever and it's sad but that's why you live it to the fullest in the time you have and that even if the world would go on forever, it would be pretty boring if everything was the same 24/7. I love it so much man
I agree with it being underrated. The controls are good, the sword is a fun gimmick, the OST is freaking awesome, the graphics are nice, the gameplay is fast and fluent, the missions are mostly fun and challenge is hard but fair and it has the best story in the series IMO. I don't understand the hate for this game. I also did not grow up with Black Knight as Secret Rings always scared me away from it but just last year I finally gave the game a fair chance and its now in my top 10. That's just me though
What I like about this game is that it carries on the traditional Sonic plot twists of having the supposed main antagonist be overshadowed by another bigger evil. In this case, King Arthur is the supposed main antagonist, but gets superseded by Merlina. With Me is also a song that completely shifts from the medieval style music back to modern Sonic style, it is now a personal grudge match between two friends. Definitely not something you’d expect in a game set in the middle ages
A long time after I beat Sonic and the Black Knight--on a small replay--I realized that the gameplay is genuinely at its best when you TRY to do it and not just "waggle with remote". Engaging with the different maneuvers, sparing villagers, going for 5-star rankings on all levels, uppercuts, lunges, blocking, avoiding hits, etc. Like, you CAN just waggle, and with how Sonic keeps his momentum on a mid-run swing, it is technically the easiest and most accessible strategy (for most things but the boss fights), so it's actually perfectly reasonable--and not the player's fault. I guess what I'm saying is that... the game's controls that always get complained about feel GREAT if you do the this certain thing, and the real issue is that the game doesn't incentivize you through anything but score to "play well." If it could or did somehow, I really feel like people would have been able to enjoy this title more. It's story. It's character. Skill expression. OH YEAH, AND THE BALLER FINAL BOSS MUSIC. *blares track*
sonic the hedgehog engages in a duel to the death against the granddaughter of the most renowned wizard in history while preaching about the temporality of life and the certainty of death
@YEP Ian Flynn could save this franchise being known as "a silly little blue ball". He may return us to this time. The time where Sonic had some of the most epic stories seen in a kids game. Sonic isn't just for kids, and Ian Flynn darn well understands that.
@YEP Oh that's sick dude! I was just introduced to Sonic when forces came out so I had no idea that Sonic was serious, and just ate it up. I eventually went to Mania, then found all the Sonic stuff I missed. So I've went back and played SA1 and SA2, Heroes, 06(which I quite enjoy lol), and all the games after, besides Lost world, which I'll get eventually. I now realize how much better Sonic was in terms of storytelling back then compared to the Sonic 2010-2019 games, and I'm currently going through all the Sonic games and Archie Comics,IDW, Series, etc. on the road to Frontiers. Overall, I'm so glad I found this franchise, and look forward to what it has in store!
Believe it or not, I had NEVER heard this song until I played Sonic World. (Release 9 btw) I was going through all the themes, and seeing what music would play in each menu and credits. The Volcano theme had this as the credits. Even though I hadn't heard it before, I knew it was from Black Knight. Somehow. I only played Sonic World first about a month or 2 ago, so I was missing out on this epic song. Starting to like this more than Knight Of The Wind. 🖤🖤🖤
Its been literally years since i played this game. This song still hits to this day, and brings back so many nostalgic memories. Live on, Sonic and the Black Knight, in many people's hearts and minds.
"its the greatest of the sacred swords, Excalibur!" what makes this hit even harder is that you didnt realized, forgot, or didnt take big enough note that sonic, pulled caliburn out from the stone, just like the sword of king arthur.
i love this song so much because it puts us into the perspective of merlina motives while poetically demonstrating to us where she is coming from with all of this. all of this is conveyed through the lyrics! it’s nothing short of genius! 👌 it’s also catchy as hell.
This is not only one of my favorite final boss themes in a game, it is the best final boss theme song with lyrics in a Sonic game. Though I love the instrumental to His World in Unlesashed, this definitively represents Merlina. Though Sonic considers her cause wrong, Merlina beleives fully in what she is trying to do; defying the concept of death. And she will not let uo, so in her eyes, Sonic can surrender or join her.
After hearing that Marty Friedman played in this song made me appreciate this game even more. Megadeth and sonic together is one of the most metal things I’ve ever heard
I just bought and finished this game recently, after enjoying Sonic and the Secret Rings. It was great game (besides Dragon's Lair). It's quite cheesy in concept, but I think they really pulled it off well.

Welp, guess that means Team Sonic Racing is canonically the last Sonic game. XD
This games final boss is one of the emotionally deepest in the series. Summing it up to it's bare components, Sonic is fighting someone who's just afraid to die, and is willing to go to the extreme to make sure that she, as well as the people she loves, don't.
And Sonic is basically helping her come to terms with that.
Funnily enough, I think the thing that drives this point home is the final boss of The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, where SPOILERS FOR ONE OF THE BEST GAMES IN THE SONIC FRANCHISE (fight me):
The main antagonist in The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog is just a being that is afraid to lose its only friend.
@@micopen6719 No need to fight. I really liked that game as well.

Maybe. But even Mario has some epic moments that does differently than Sonic. Like in the Galaxy games with how orchestrated & the RPG's.

@@drkspnova Yep that’s what I think too!
So “Every world has to end.” Could be Sonic knowing this about her in the original version and what Merlina imagines him aggressively calling her out for in the Crush 40 one.

merlina in-game: i wish to preserve all the world around me because i do not see the point in nothing lasting forever and everything falling into obsolescence. my methods may be cruel or unorthodox but my cause is noble, and i'm one of few sonic the hedgehog antagonists that truly falls under grey morality.

Well she did cause a lot destruction while using the power of the scabbard. Remember how sonic and the knights of the round table had to evacuate castle town?
Thing is Merlin's went to so e extremes. Heaven knows how much guilt she bears
That is exactly her role tho. She is ready to become a villain and feed her own self to the story she wrote

So my dad named me Arthur after King Arthur cause he loves history especially medieval history. It felt strange fighting a boss I was named after. Still this is one of my favourite Wii games.
So, how did you feel when the guy you were named after wasn’t actually the final boss?
@@mariobroultimate1808 Still felt more useful than real life.

I was named Tristan after Sir Tristan of King Arthur's knights so I guess I am destined to fight alongside you.

Good point
@donkeyisalive00 is a guy who actually gets it 👏👏👏
@@pytha7 hard agree, he really did shove it down our throats

It's not one of the best Sonic games but man it's so fun and enjoyable. Some of the games quotes are some of the best quotes in the series... Sonic telling the listener (and Merlina) that life doesn't go on forever and it's sad but that's why you live it to the fullest in the time you have and that even if the world would go on forever, it would be pretty boring if everything was the same 24/7.
"It was never about chivalry for me, I just gotta do what I gotta do! That's all!"
"Sonic!!"
I guess what I'm saying is that... the game's controls that always get complained about feel GREAT if you do the this certain thing, and the real issue is that the game doesn't incentivize you through anything but score to "play well."
If it could or did somehow, I really feel like people would have been able to enjoy this title more. It's story. It's character. Skill expression.

So I've went back and played SA1 and SA2, Heroes, 06(which I quite enjoy lol), and all the games after, besides Lost world, which I'll get eventually. it’s also catchy as hell.
Sonic taught me more about death than persona 3 did
Why not both?
This is not only one of my favorite final boss themes in a game, it is the best final boss theme song with lyrics in a Sonic game. Though I love the instrumental to His World in Unlesashed, this definitively represents Merlina. Though Sonic considers her cause wrong, Merlina beleives fully in what she is trying to do; defying the concept of death. And she will not let uo, so in her eyes, Sonic can surrender or join her.
