Good guy Dale. Happy to share as much as he can and clearly loves his job. He is a credit to Airfix. If nothing else he comes across as a guy that will get things done. Thanks for sharing Gary, great insight. 👍
Thank you Gary, Dale always comes across good that why is in that position, I certainly would not his job, to much juggling! And the logistics involved! We have at least an iconic British company that is still with us.
Nice to hear the Airfix viewpoint, IMHO Dale comes across very well & is open about issues and how they are being addressed. Thanks for an interesting video Gary.
A very good interview Gary, Dale always comes across as a genuine guy, when I've spoken to him at various shows he is always pleasant and enthusiastic about his products. Although he does keep going deaf when the word Halifax is mentioned 😂
Good interview - I'm one of those Aussies who finds the 9 month wait for new kits annoyin AF, so thanks for raising that and great to hear a response telling us there's people looking at itl
Gary, great interview, Dale always seems upfront and honest from interviews I’ve seen and his comments in your interview are very positive. Really hope they can sort out their QC issues 🤞
Well done @Gary, that was a great interview with Dale. The new mic's sound good too mate...... Oh and I loved Dale's reaction as the "Video Bomber" walked past the camera the first time (you can almost hear his brain shouting WTF?!!!) 😂😂😂
The Apollo recovery helicopter? Yes, that would be amazing - not sure how much work would be required beyond the decal set. If they do, they need to include pilots, figures and the capsule.....fingers crossed 🤞
That was an interesting interview. I did get a bit frustrated with talk of containers and shipping though when there are injection moulding companies in the UK. I’d rather spend one or two pounds more for a uk produced kit
I'm sure they have run the numbers on this and it probably doesn't look good even with very expensive shipping at the moment. One complication is that the tooling is made in China, so there are costs associated with shipping that to the UK, and I suspect the costs of production here are very, very much higher than they are in a country such as India. Might end up being more than one or two pounds...
Brother dont hold your breath....simply buy 1 from their competitors. .....i now go to Italeri for the Jag and Revell for the Tornado......i have given up wasting my time on Airfix releasing them when deep down we all know they WONT
@tobyninja6369 its a great kit (kit number 1470)...great detail....Airfix wont do a Jag or Tornado as they have gone too far down the ww2 rabbit hole and are now unwilling and / or unwilling to get out of it....look at their line up today and compare it to what they did back in the day....a poor shadow of the company they used to be as far as subject matter is concerned. Airfix KNOW their customers want a new Jag or Tornado but its mostly the same kits over and over and over with nothing more than a few slightly different parts to make a different version or nothing more than a different decal sheet and then Airfix announce it as "new"
Dear Airfix... I sent you numerous requests over the last three years to do a Sherman M4a4 no response. Well Ryefield Models have just released one and frankly cocked it up as regards British Shermans ( no turret box.) So here is an idea...the crew of the Lysander look unique. Why not do a range of 1/48 Aircrew all nations,in non wooden poses, it's the 21st century for gods sake. Ive lived with Airfix for 50 years so up your game. Xx
I think in terms of 1/48-1/72 split I maybe most “serious” modellers would consider simpler starter kits as proper kits, hence the feeling that 1/72 is neglected.
Still got the B-24 and the Chinook in 1/72, and Dale tells me he thinks the starter range is essentially done with for the moment so maybe more interesting 1/72 kits next year...
@@garys_stuff yes I agree both lovely kits I was just thinking of why 1/72 builders may feel neglected. I think there seems to be a trend at the moment for manufacturers in general to be concentrating on the larger scales too. I’m still waiting for a 1/72 Halifax which I know you have been pushing for 🤞🤞for 2025 😊
Get the British government to drill for oil and gas, bring down the cost of energy (and plastic?) and bring manufacturing back to the UK - no more undershot kits (which you mentioned.....)! As you say Gary, not a political video but..... On the subject of improvements to customer service, does that mean the Humbrol will reconsider their response to my issue of dried smart mud ("speak to your retailer"....)?
First point - you make it sound so easy! Get in touch with Keir right away!!! Dale for PM! Second point, I don't know about your correspondence with Humbrol but your contract of sale was with the retailer. If there was an issue, they can then take it up with Humbrol should they wish to but you get your money back or a replacement from the retailer. It's just the way it is, created to stop dodgy retailers saying "no mate, you have to speak with the manufacturer." Of course, if you bought it from their online store they are both retailer and manufacturer. If you're just reporting something to them for their own information then they need to be more switched on.
@garys_stuff First point - You can't just leave the politics alone, can you Gary lol !!! Interesting response on the returns issue when Airfix themselves offer a parts replacement service irrespective of where you bought the kit. I actually bought the mud from Amazon who have a rather good no quibble returns service but you can imagine they're hardly going to look through their stock until they find a good un..... Dale for PM (back to the politics)? Couldn't do any worse than any of our recent incumbents. However, I'm not sure you'd get those new toolings you've been pleading for any quicker!
It was Sunday morning, always the quietest time. The one thing to think of is that competition day is Saturday so if you want to see all the comp entries you'll need to go then, otherwise it's a much more relaxed time and much, much easier to get in!
Right, so as Dale mentioned, if we ignore the Vintage Classics and the 2nd/3rd releases, this year they have released brand new kits of the Lysander and Bulldog in 1/48, the Liberator and Chinook in 1/72, added the Mustang, Bf-109 and very soon the Typhoon as starter sets in 1/72, and the Shannon Class Lifeboat in 1/72. That's eight completely new designs. Not re-issues, not Vintage Classics, completely new. Add things like the excellent Sherman and Tiger Quickbuilds and that's ten completely new tooled kits across a range of modelling skills. The Vintage Classics are not there to attract younger modellers, quite the opposite, they play heavily on nostalgia. Can you name another company that has released the same number of *brand new* kits across such a diverse range in 2024.
I assume you're American Jose? Lobby him for a trade deal - you'll get cheaper Airfix and Games Workshop stuff and we can have cheaper Atlantis etc...!
Airfix are fortunate to have a spokesman like Dale who comes across as having a comprehensive understanding of the business as well as the hobby.
Good guy Dale. Happy to share as much as he can and clearly loves his job. He is a credit to Airfix. If nothing else he comes across as a guy that will get things done. Thanks for sharing Gary, great insight. 👍
We should just be grateful that Airfix exist !
Dale always comes across as nice bloke and honest with his information
Great interview - thanks Dale for your time and Gary for the video!
Thank you Gary, Dale always comes across good that why is in that position, I certainly would not his job, to much juggling! And the logistics involved! We have at least an iconic British company that is still with us.
You asked good honest direct questions and got good honest direct answers , thanks Gary and thanks Dale . Regards Gav.

Dale's always good value; nice interview Gary.

Agreed! 😊
Great man Dale Luckhurst had the privilidge of meeting him at Perth Last Year.....
Did you ask him about the 'blobby' pilots Gary? I'm so grateful that Airfix are still with us.
Great to hear Dale's take on things, he comes across very well, you can feel his frustrations over the QC issues.
Thank you for asking about Australia Gary
Hi Gary, seems like a nice chap, hopefully Airfix will continue to trade and grow in the future, just fix the QC and I'm back on board!
Gary, great interview, Dale always seems upfront and honest from interviews I’ve seen and his comments in your interview are very positive. Really hope they can sort out their QC issues 🤞
Enjoyable interview
Excellent interview.
Dale knows how to come across.
Looking forward to vintage Cheifton Tank, Wasp/Scout and especially the new 1.48 Sunderland.
Well done @Gary, that was a great interview with Dale. The new mic's sound good too mate......
Oh and I loved Dale's reaction as the "Video Bomber" walked past the camera the first time (you can almost hear his brain shouting WTF?!!!)
😂😂😂
It was just so ironic that it was he who suggested we film on the gallery because it stopped people walking in front of the camera!
Hi Gary hope they do more quick build tanks@@garys_stuff
Glad you brought up the problem with QC. Always have a custard pie handy for people who walk through your interviews.
The Lysander is great! Will for sure order one! For the Sea King...I would be after a "Old 66"
The Apollo recovery helicopter? Yes, that would be amazing - not sure how much work would be required beyond the decal set. If they do, they need to include pilots, figures and the capsule.....fingers crossed 🤞
Great video and interview with Dale, Gary. Very informative and Dale came across very well, I thought.
I hope you do a Lysander in 1/72nd scale, we need a good one and Airfix can do it! Halifax sounds great too.
Really cool. 👍
Great interview, what a brilliant retirement present not just a watch but a watch for the company he worked for.
We've had the Bristol Bulldog in New Zealand already. My local shop is out of stock though.
That was an interesting interview. I did get a bit frustrated with talk of containers and shipping though when there are injection moulding companies in the UK. I’d rather spend one or two pounds more for a uk produced kit

Last but not least...why did they miss the bus of "Masters of the Air" to update their excellent B-17G to an -F version?
That would have been smart - of course for licensing reasons it would have had to have been a simple coincidence to have done that...
I wonder if ,now that Revell have announced a Hunter T-7 with Black Arrows decals, will Airfix do one (even in 1/72) with Blue Diamonds decals?
I personally put a bee in their ear about the Hindustan HF-24 Marut that I've been wanting a model of for decades.
That's the beauty of a show like Telford, you can corner them!
Sepecat Jaguar please
Brother dont hold your breath....simply buy 1 from their competitors. .....i now go to Italeri for the Jag and Revell for the Tornado......i have given up wasting my time on Airfix releasing them when deep down we all know they WONT
@ what do you think they will release next year? What’s the Italeri one like? I built a jag when I was a kid but can’t remember which one.
@@Damien-q8t it reminds me of eduard! Why can’t they do more jets or tanks? They keep doing the same topics.
For goodness sake do a Jaguar and Phantom in 1/48.
Wouldn't mind a Jaguar but I'm a 1/72 Scale only person unfortunately.....
Bloody hell Gary, you had one job ... ask him when the new 1/48th SEPECAT Jaguar is being released.
🧤🧤🧤🧤

A 1/48 scale Hurricane MKiic Night Intruder would be nice
Maybe Arma Hobby might have one? Superb kits and very straightforward to make.
@garys_stuff They have, but it would be easy to release for Airfix. I've built the Hobbyboss version nice kit
@garys_stuff An updated Boulton Paul Defiant MK2 with radar would be an interesting kit
The Boultn Paul P94 (Single seat no turret Defiant) proposed in 1940 would be interesting custom build
I also hope for their 1/24 Spit to be develloped into Mk I and V...the old tool MK I is just outdated!
When airfix doing westland puma

Honestly, How are the Classic rereleases attracting younger modellers? Please bring out new designs and toolings.

For crying out loud!!!! THERE'S A ******* HUGE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM!!!!
Good interview, I just hope that with Trump there are not many problems with the economy since I bought eighty percent of my Airfix kits on Amazon.
