Guys, Blood was one of my first game, i launch on PC when parents buy it (back in 1999 :) And it was the first 3D shooter game, i ever played. Remember, how awesome it was - music, graphics, monsters, healthy humor! I never seen such deep, attractive and wonderfull atmosphere. Damn, even today, Blood is my favorite game in entire FPS genre, and it always will be. What can be wrong with this game? That's right - nothing. This is a perfect example, how game should be. It's bloody. It's a classic. It's a masterpiece for all time. Best regards to all Blood fans.

It came with a lot of extras in the CD, one was folders with screenshots of the beta versions of Blood, Shadow Warrior and Prey (the one that Paul Schuytema was developing). That's how I got to know those games.

I love all of the soundtracks, but "Fate of the Damned" is my favorite. It's the soundtrack that I think of when I try to imagine the atmosphere of the game.
I can't decide wheter my favorite one's "Fate of the Damned", "Infuscumous" or that one chant song from the non-MIDI version. There's a great metal/djent cover of Infuscumous made by the legendary Michael Markie (composer of Quake Champions: Doom Edition).
Yeah. I really like the MIDI soundtrack. Though I do kinda prefer the redbook rendition of Dark Carnival, but other than that MIDI is really neat in an unique way and it is very difficult to replace, especially in such an atmospheric and immersive game like Blood.

This game had so deep influence in my life. The level design inspired me so much that I reconstructed my kitchen in such a spirit. I completely love the game, though the monsters were plain stupid (and fun to kill). * Shadow Warrior already has it's comeback. * Thief already has it's comback. I did not play any of them. But hell I am hoping that they also make Blood with proper comeback. Blood indeed deservers it.

I never noticed before but Shipwrecked and Overlooked Hotel are remixes of each other. Shipwrecked has some of the same music as in Overlooked in the background, but it's played slower and at a lower key. Listen for it: 15:10 - 15:30 21:46 - 22:02 I think those are my two favourite songs from the game.

Yeah, Blood2 had a kickass intro for the game, but the rest failed, mostly because of bugs. I remember it got bad reviews because of the bugs and at that time games didn't sell if they didn't get top-notch reviews, people would just download them and not pay. And especially with blood2 as they actually had a bug that allowed to play the game without cd not having to even crack the game. There was some action elements in blood2 I liked and the overall concept art, Stephan Weyte voice was great in both games.
The futuristic atmosphere also did not help the game much in my opinion. One of my favorite passages is the hospital building because it feels more like Blood but other than that. Eh. Even the temples at the end are meh because the enemies there are annoying. I think the action is still good though. Some level transitions are questionable since you have levels that last maybe a minute and are too linear but I guess they did what they could with their limited budget :/ SHOGO turned out much better in my opinion.
I believe Blood 2 had been rushed and a lot of content got cut out of the game, making it released in pre-matured condition. We can blame GT Interactive for screwing Monolith over the sequel and they were so impatient

I'm still waiting for the day where they create a source port for this game like zdoom so we can play it in full 60 fps and without fucking around with config files and shit. They can also remake the map editor.

It's a shame that Blood has been indexed on the games blacklist here in Germany, so that it has never reached many players along with other gems. I had to go to a trader with my mom who unofficially imported it from Switzerland or Austria to get it. :D

The CD version of Fate of the Damned is crap, and where's The Overlooked Hotel? There's less tracks in total and it's already a soundtrack with few tracks as it is, so I'll stick to MIDI in this case.
I couldn't disagree more. The CD version is amazing IMO. The only downside is that the music doesn't loop ingame, so you have to load a save in order for the music to start over.
I prefer the original version over CD version. By the way, this is one of the best action horror game at the time. It has a creepy atmosphere and music inside this game

If you ACTUALLY make comparations, you'll realise that some tracks are actually COMPLETELY different from one another and that at the end of the day is a matter of "which version of Dark Carnival you like the most? The purely musical one or the one with crowd noises?". As for me, I like some MIDI tracks better and I like other CD ones better as well. In a way, it's kinda sad how you can't mix them.

Oh dear God. I remember when i was just 5 years old and for my first time i´ve played this game! That was back in 1997. And troughout the years i´ve been playing this game still over and over.............and i´m 30 now and it still gives me the creeps.
To be honest, I prefer the Soundblaster 16 version for The Lair Of Shial music while I still prefer the midi and some CD version of these track for sure
The only problem I had with the CD music was that it was uncontrollably loud no matter where the slider on the settings were at. Granted I have the GOG version, so maybe something else is at fault here. Although I think some of the CD songs are better than the MIDI alternatives. The CD songs don't loop though so there is an initial awkward moment in the game when the track is over.
You can try to Death Wish mod for Blood for more bloody goodness. It has 30 levels and most of the level design even surpasses the original game in my opinion.

Fate of the Damned's MIDI version is so relaxing, I could sleep to it. The MP3 version however makes me feel paranoid.

Oh dear God. I remember when i was just 5 years old and for my first time i´ve played this game! That was back in 1997. And troughout the years i´ve been playing this game still over and over.............and i´m 30 now and it still gives me the creeps.

The only problem I had with the CD music was that it was uncontrollably loud no matter where the slider on the settings were at. Granted I have the GOG version, so maybe something else is at fault here. Although I think some of the CD songs are better than the MIDI alternatives. The CD songs don't loop though so there is an initial awkward moment in the game when the track is over.

this game is one of the best in its era, I hope they make more games like this...I mean...pixelated and gory, not like the 3d shit we play today.
You can try to Death Wish mod for Blood for more bloody goodness. It has 30 levels and most of the level design even surpasses the original game in my opinion.
Just stay away from Blood 2 though - what a bloody disappointment.
