I found this ages ago when it was first uploaded -- still one of the best things ever. :-)
I'm a CODA(Child of Deaf Adults), both of my parents are deaf. I am a hearing individual and being raised by them has of course taught me another language. I was captivated by the story from start to finish. I thought it was told in a very humble and action packed kind of way. The "Matrix" camera tricks used in sign language was completely incredible. This guy should try his hand at writing a screenplay or two. Props bro', props.
10 plus ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ stars!!! You are the best actor ever!! I bet you are a hearing and coda. You use ASL beautifully and easily understanding. Good job and keep it up!!! Thumbs up!!!
You are very good actor to share the story of deaf ninja. I like that! Keep up with your creation stories about deaf ninja.
Your use of space and freezes is phenomenal - thank you for such a great story! I look forward to seeing more of them!
Best creative signed video I've seen. Post some more! ;) Shared w/ my D/HoH students and they LOVED it!
All I can say is, "This is Awesome Austin Andrews!" :) Awesome ASL Animation, man! Keep up with your creativity!!
You are awesome. I love the way you did the visuals. 5 stars!!
Wow, your skills are sooo good!! Very clear and sharp!!
I enjoyed all of your vids. They are quite entertaining as well as with the video editing and all. Thanks for sharing great sense of humor and stories to tell! Keep up with some interesting sight seeings of Europe. ( They are educational I must say. ;o) )
haha. What a wonderful story!!! Keep up the good work! You've found a fan in me!! I absolutely love how well you're created this story.
This is by far one of my favorites utube videos!
AWTI... you sign as if you were deaf. You have deaf soul without a doubt.
I put you on myspace. *wink*
Definatly make more! I loved how into the story you were... makes the sign language so much more easy to understand (as my second language). Awesome!
i do not no ASL at all nor any other SL for that matter but it was very nice watching you!! your facial expressions were the most entertaining for me. i only have a clue about the story you are telling, but i was laughing here and there because of how you delivered it! you should be an actor ;) and subtitles would be distracting. i also think as an ordinary person that your signing was not too fast & i could at least guess some words/phrases!! it was nice watching you!
Awe-freakin-some!! Whoa! Beautifully signed! Loved the visual effect! Thanks!!!
I love it!!!! That is incredibly creative and excellent use of classifiers! Whoa.... very visual and I can truly feel that I am in a movie! excellent! horray!
TH-cam should have more of these vids. Very creative idea. I don't understand sign language myself, but the story seemed cool. Keep up the good work
Haha this is fabulous! You're a great storyteller and should definitely keep this up! As a hearing person I was able to understand every piece of this and cracked up quite a bit! Thanks for the entertainment :)
i dont really understand sign language, but your expressions and movements were fantastic! i Love ninja-ness, so i defiantly want to see more of these!!
5 stars for you and your fantastic creativity :D !!!
this is such a good video. we watched it in my deaf studies class and had to see if again
That was hilarious~! I loved it...I'm hearing and now some ASL, but I fully understood your story. It had me laughing out loud. Thanks for the smile~
I liked this video, even though i didn't understand one word!
Deaf people probably search TH-cam and get really pissed off that they can't hear what's being said (based on the fact that the video doesn't have subtitles). There should be more videos like this one.
Well done :D
golly i love this video! im studying to become a terp and it makes me feel special that i can watch your video with my friends and just laugh and everyone just stares at me and says...what's he saying..and i shrug and say...learn sign language..i cant even explain it. Gotta love it!! keep making vlogs!! i love em
Great ASL story. I enjoy watching yours. If you can dream up with any superhero story. It would be awesome to see stories you drum up with.
I love your story! I'm just learning ASL, but you were very descriptive and I could totally follow along. You are now on my fav's list.
This is fantastic. I don't have the best grasp of sign but I've seen it over and over because it's so cool to watch ^_^
You should definitely make more! I love these! I am so glad that the deaf community is coming out in force, video blogging. It's the best for them cause now... we can SEE you!
Hey Austin,
As usual, I loved your animated story. I'm sure your brother (W) is proud to see this. Too bad I have two left thumbs or I would take you on ninja style.
CHAMP, best pic sign lang I ever see, I was told that you are hearing, we should be proud that you are one of the best sign lang in our community, I would love to see more of you,
I truly love this Ninja Story any more of it? I love it very much.
Absolutely wonderful storytelling and creatively done.
best ALS video I have seen on you tube. thanks!
very entertaining. I liked the good use of classifiers. Well done. five stars.
that is the most incredible thing, I understand no sign language what so ever but I got it, understood what was happening. the imagery was great!
Great Job!
i like that ur hearing doesnt effect ur other senses
Really great video. I've been away from Sign for almost 6 months now, and I'm sadly starting to loose it. It's great to have video's like this (I saw it in my last semester of Sign) that have great classifier use to help me get used to reading Sign again. Thanks for sharing the story of your brother (if I remember correctly).
I know very little ASL, but I really enjoyed what I could understand. The motion and fight descriptions are incredible!
...I have now idea what you've just signed to me, so I'll just assume it was the most amazing thing I've ever been told!
That was AMAZING!!!
I enjoyed that vid very much. The part with the raindrop in slow motion made me laugh.
Today has made me glad I know sign. Helped a deaf couple at work today AND found this funny video. I love it! Masterful use of ASL to tell a very visual story. I agree with the other comments though; most people that browse youtube don't understand ASL, so an accompanying video with the translation/subtitles would be fantastic.
This is one of best.. Very clean story, All involve with Construction Action, I try to do this myself, but Impossible.. This is your original, no one can copy you..Btw, I'm deaf and I do lot of work for CDI involve with gestures for my interpreting job. Awesome!
This BLEW ME OUT OF THE WATER!
Terrific job.
Absolutely amazing! I just finished ASL 1 at my university, so I understood most of it. I hope you do many, many more!
That was awesome. Very original, and very dynamic.
I was able to understand the gist of your story, although I still have a ways to go before I could consider myself fluent in ASL. You have quite the imagination! :-D I'll definitely check back in later to watch this again once I have a better grasp of the language.
Even without being able to understand every word though, I definitely can love and appreciate your presentational style! Those matrix style moves are awesome. :) Nunchaku hearing aids... now that is something I'd love to see!
Love your use of classifiers! WOW. Very creative! ENCORE ENCORE
This was an amazing video, im learning american sign language and it was great to watch, i hope to see more in the future. :)
My bro-in law sent this after getting it from his ASL instructor...who also happened to be my ASL instructor about 4yrs ago in college.
Now it's been about 4yrs since I've seen ASL for any length. At first, I was hopelessly lost...and then, bit by bit it started to come back. Parts of it towards the end were just like old times! Wow, that was awesome!
Man I miss that. Gotta get back with the group! (and catch up. ;) )
Haha! Very enjoyable! I'm so glad I learned ASL in college. This was a very well done and amusing video.
Very impressive, Austin! This is actually more entertaining than the movie!
AWTIsome!
Your signs are so fluid, just because you have this intense passion for expressing yourself with your hands and facial expressions.
You're able to hear, yet you can see as a true Deafie. I'm F***KING proud of you, brother!
I can't wait for your next ASL storytelling session, so please give us all more!
One of the best ASL stories I've seen in quite some time. Awesome.
That's so cool! I like your matrix style of ASL.
JT
my dad has been deaf his whole life and only understands sign language he understood this perfectly nothing is wrong here
Loved it! I'm actually hearing but I'm learning asl in college. Some signs were hard to understand but I really liked it! I had to translate for my mom when she asked what I was watching. Keep up the good work!
this is absolutely amazing, get some more videos uploaded already!
I can not believe how perfect this expression is. It amazes me how a seperation of a langage can give birth to a whole new art form that many will never understand, simply because they hear.
Your signing skills are unbeatable.
i completely agree. I dont know a single bit of sign language but im glad he didnt put subtitles on it.
i loved the part when he said" and the dog went inside but the position was so off he nearly vomited on my mother"
I don't know sign language but i think its good that your making videos for the deaf goodjob!
Hey, it's great seeing a real ASL storyteller! Keep that up!!
Man, that's some great music you've got there
That was awesome. All the expressions and use of classifiers.
Loved how visual this story was and how I was able to picture the Ninjas movements in my mind as if I was seeing it right in front of me happening. The signing for me was very clear. :)
man, I didn't understand exactly what you were saying, but it looked REALLY exciting, and I feel as though I followed the story without knowing how to sign. Your communication is fantastic.
I love the spilling blood sequence at 1:59!
Awesome video!!!
he talking about the first deaf ninja
If you're reading this have an FANTASTIC day!
This video deserves a mention. This is an interesting way of storytelling. Too bad that I don't know hand signs. Keep up the good work!
I know someone involved in making films for the deaf. These films are all signed. They are captioned for the hearing.
Cool!
I'm dutch and using dutch singlanguage, but I
can understand this video pretty good :-)
Hope you make a lot more video's!
(sorry if my english is bad)
WOW! amazing! there were a few signs i didnt catch but i got about 95% of it. keep it up, the way you signed that was amazing!
I can't wait for episode 2..
Excellent! Please keep making more...
Hilarious and original, you should definitely make more.
Hey, I'm from Australia and this video is my utterly favourite! I can understand some of your ASL and the body language is amazing!
For those who are critising for not having the captions - well, the simple answer is that you guys should watch his body language. And to translate a bit: his grandparent wore a very old technology with box with ear tubes that used to hear stuff like modern "Cochlear" but much more older. What he means...
Im a swedish guy that uses hearingaids. I do speak some swedish sign language. But o do understand it! This is a great story with a great storyteller!
Must watch over and over and over because it's like new each time
Nice one! Some claim I resemble you! Long lost brother or what!? Ramon from UK!
Ahh I know you, we have met at my house and I didn't know you have a story like this one. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! ;D - Alan
that was AWESOME!!! your ASL is Gorgeous!!! you are pah actor!!
This is really cool. I don't understand all of it yet, but that will come with time and practice.
I am H of H that was a Great story. I got out of lots if information, very good story. at 1 point someone ask you a Ninja ? you said yes a Deaf Ninja. Then the whole fighting scene very nicely explained. hope to see more I will share this with my deaf friend Peace:)
I totally want to make a ridiculous voice-over and just make it up as I go along based on what his hand motions look like. XD
Now you people understand how does it feel when youre not understand that theres no subtitles on while deaf use sign language, so hearing movie should be have subtitles on it so deaf people could understand.
if you dont know sign language, it shuts you out.
it kind of gives you the perspective of being deaf, in a sense.
i can see all the camera angles he's giving, so cool!
boy, did YOU just say a HANDFUL...
This was great, it made me laugh at the end. Great job!
He is from Deaf family. He can hear.
Deaf ninja
For the hearing
(an interpretation from someone who can't read sign)
in the beginning there was a ninja. The ninja who was true of heart
and skilled in the black arts. The ninja's senses were all hightened to a great degree --all except one.
he ninja may not have been able to hear, but he made up for it with a device strapped to his chest unlike any other.
LOVE THIS, very visual, so much happy to watch it!
Very cool. I took 2 years of ASL in high school. I really enjoyed it.
I don't know much sign, but even watching him was enough entertainment.
I am doing research on Role Shifting in ASL. Thanks for this video, it's going to make for good studies!
You don't need to learn the all of ASL just a few basics and then you get the basics of the story. Beautifully acted and portrayed in true ASL... what a joy to watch you perform.
LOL I understand just about zero ASL but this was so entertaining to watch! :)
It looks two groubs fighting and have headphones
If you cannot understand what he said, learn sign and you will get it then.
