It might also just be Tony revealing his true self. It was EASY To play the good guy with his fantasy booking federation when WWE was bad and Vince was in charge. When the fans applauded every alternative, and Dave was less generally seen as an out of touch bugger who cares more about "Is it catering ot my whims? are my friends performing in my prefered company?!" When Tony was riding high on praise, a good reception and with little thread of talent wanting to jump on WWE. Now, WWE is climbing, AEW flatlining, and Tony's ego can't COPE with that.
Aew banning younger talent from working wrestpemania weekend sounds like a very convoluted way to stop Ricky starks getting any exposure during wrestle mania weekend while also letting jericho go out and make a fool of himself with some of his indie buddies.
It's ONLY the "younger talent" and in Vegas. Sounds like they can work anywhere else except in Vegas, which as a business man makes sense why would you let your future be scouted by a company that you know has unethical views towards AEW contracted talent and tampers with the contracts which is illegal? I sure wouldn't. In fact, I'd take that talent and have a NYC show just to give them the work and show their talents.

Because you make a good point speaking from the perspective of a businessman, but on the flip side of that, WrestleMania weekend always features the largest gathering of wrestling fans for the locale it’s hosted. With so many fans in the area, as a businessman and as a talent, you could use the weekend as an opportunity to attract new eyes onto your own promotion, stir up some curiosity and intrigue as it were and maybe even generate lifelong fans in the process.

Stevie Richards talked about this on his podcast the other day, AEW has developed a reputation for letting locker room conflicts fester usually because of Tony Khan’s favoritism. Punk is a perfect example, if TK had dealt with him like his boss instead of a fan Punk would probably still be in AEW today. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn it was a similar story with Baker, she was central to the AEW women’s division for their first few years. Tony Khan probably let a lot of stuff slide with her because of that, and that only makes bad behavior worse. It’s like if you show up 10 minutes late for work a few times and nobody says anything, so you start showing up 10 minutes late every day. Then 15, then 20, then 30, then a couple months go by and now you’re suddenly getting fired because you never clock in on time. (EDIT: I speak from personal experience here, back in my 20s I lost more than one job this way).

Like on one hand I understand to prevent WWE from poaching talent, but @ the same time I think that's unfair to them.
Poaching what talent? They are indie shows and WWE doesn’t even need to do that anyway. Being told you can’t wrestle on Mania weekend, getting froze off of tv and not used and not being released from your contract, along with your merch being taken off of the store is doing a good enough job of running talent off to WWE on its own
