@@RogueRanks Clarifications: Bosmer can eat plants and fruits BUT they can't harvest them or eat harvested plants that means that the fruits need to drop from the trees.
Races I have ”never” played as (anywhere from zero minutes to sixty minutes) dating back to Morrowind’s launch on Xbox, from least time to most time: Redguard, Khajiit, Argonian, Orc, Imperial, Bosmer, Altmer. I have at least one hundred hours with Dunmer, and thousands with Nord, and Breton.
I feel like the Dunmer got a great lore because of Morrowind (the game). Since at the time, Bethesda was probably trying to compete with other lore heavy RPG, they made the intricate history of the dunmer, with it's religion difference, lore dissagreement within the game (who killed nerevar), and other political power at play (Im thinking about the great houses, but also the interaction with the empire establishment, like Telvanni vs mages guild). All of that lead to greater Dunmer development as a race compared to the meagre lore we got in oblivion / skyrim imho. In my experience, I found that it was easier to imagine a compelling dunmer character, with loads of background ties, compared to a Nord or a Imperial. Also Argonian into Dunmer ranking is wild considering their mutual hate xD
I just realized my two favorite races both are mix of Middle Eastern and Japanese culture.. dark elves are mix of Persian and Japanese and redguards mix of arabian and Japanese.
I was SHOCKED that Altmer was ranked so low. Useful ability and they get an extra 50 points in magic. Magic builds aren’t for everyone, but second lowest in the rankings feels plain wrong.
My first skyrim character was an Orc battlemage named Klarrg. I roleplayed him being constantly high on Skyrim's various mushrooms and poisonous plants. He was really fun to play even though I barely did the main story at all, focusing more on the mage academy questline
Great video. I just hate how Khajits and Argonians wear SHOES like humans. In Morrowind they didn't as their feet had different shape. I feel like Khajits and Argonians have been castrated in Skyrim compared to Morrowind where they were significantly more unique.
Passives>>>>>Skills Altmer are easily top 3 just from having tall models (they run faster and jump higher), same as Orsimer. Bretons and Nords are also great choices for their passives (magic and frost resistance), half of Skyrim mages and Drakes do frost damage lol Imperials make great thieves from their "Imperial luck" passive trait = economic boost = better gear
4:20 There is a way to incorporate the cannibal / carnivore aspect of playing as a Bosmer. You would seek the hall of the dead in Markarth, wherein a side quest can be started to obtain the ring of Namira. This daedric artifact allows the player to exponentially raise their health and stamina by feeding on the dead.
"Voice of the Emperor" was basically rewritten between Oblivion and Skyrim. It used to do the "charm/persuade" effect, rather than "calm". Which, I found much more useful than Skyrim's counterpart.
Personally I like to play as an Altmer that became an outcast from the Aldmeri Dominion and have adapted to the harsh climates of Skyrim, a muscular and skilled fighter visible by his scars (mainly at the face) but also adept at the arcane. A High-Elf Heavy Armored Spell Blade master. Plus, High Elves have a long lifespan which means a long era of peace (or chaos) for Skyrim. And plus, they're the tallest race in the game. So my character looks towering with those Daedric or Dragonbone armor. Nothing compared to the Ebony Warrior and Tsun though 😂
Playing morrowind made me love the dunmer and almost replacing argonians as number one, but playing eso just made me love the argonians even more, they are some of the most caring people in tamriel, sacrificing themselves for others and such. Also the added benefit of playing an argonians means you will experience racism.
My first ever Legendary playthrough was on the xbox 360 with the argonian race, hitskin came in handy for a lot of situations. My second was with was with Kahjiit, I just felt like playing the cat Maybe for my third I'll try a Dunmer or Nord playthrough but unlike the last two which I relied on Sword and shield, I'll try more of a spellsword playthrough where I'll rely on conjuration and destruction magic with my sword being the back up weapon.
I’ve been playing Daggerfall as an Argonian. The number of times I’ve been called stupid or dumb by npcs because I’m playing Argonian is numerous. Argonian are certainly perceived as just being mindless lizard men by most people in the earlier titles.
You kinda got the Nord pantheon backwards. Alessia basically retconned the Nord gods and hybridized them with the Altmer gods to create a syncratic religion for the new empire. All the religions of Tamriel basically originate from the same monomyth(except for the Argonians), but are interpreted differently based on whether or not the cultures philosophy is Anuic or Padomaic.
Imperials - Boring to roleplay, generic “Roman” aesthetic😴 Bosmer - 99% lore, 1% gameplay🥱 Orsimer - Just too ugly🤮 Nord - Generic “Nordic” Viking warrior types🇸🇪🇳🇴 Redguard - Middle eastern tropes, but best warriors⚔️ Khajiit - Literally furries🐱 Altmer - Best mages but also snide, condescending right-wing ultranationalists🇮🇹🇩🇪🇮🇱 Breton - Badass half-elf spellknights, but fall into European fantasy tropes🏰 Argonians - Lizard people rise up!🦎 Dunmer - Everyone knows that dark elves have the best lore and roleplaying😎 (Seriously though you convinced me to play an Orc, you made some really good points)
I love that unpredictability about orcs that Skyrim gives us. Let's remember the first time we saw orc as an extinguished librarian, as the worst bard in the province and as an introvert genius chef
I have a race mod so for me the best is argonian. their passives: Amphibious - sneak 100% better and gain 15% movement speed increase for 60 seconds after leaving the water Histborn - when stamina, magicka or health go bellow 20% regenerate half the difference per second Its insane
Yeaaa Redguard top 3...solo game, and was always a damn good race to use, annnnd in ESO had easily one of the best zone areas, and their relevance in the going ons in the world is dope...considering they aren't originally from there. Tho I would of put words top 5 as well.
High elf and Breton are my literal favorites. Hear me out, I fking love roleplaying as a Mage. High elfs and Bretons are the best for that role. (Note: High elfs have a great lore too, like that time they literally made them moons disappear, bet the khajiits are scared as shit now XD)
For real bro hope New players actually pay attention to their ancient history and when they do they will know that most of the civilization was made by them the ancient aldmer specially were the ones who taught other races how to govern and build civilization
@@shadowborn1456 Yes. The Altmer are truly superior, Nords are fools who believe magic is weak. Bretons arent half elves, the elven blood in their veins is far to weak, Dunmer are respectable and a Tarnished elven race. Falmer, broken and betrayed by the Dwemer who tried to create their own god with Lorkhans heart. In my opinion the elven races should be looked at more, new players dont know much about them and just assume, Altmer = Arrogant = Weak and the Worst... Completely overlooking the fact that the Arcane arts, weaponry, diplomacy etc wouldnt exist without the ancient Golden Mer. There is sooo much overshadowed lore. There is more Lore than Bethesda could ever put into one game.
@@TheCatabolicTrex One of the many races in Tamriel, coming from High Rock, they were mix-blood descendants of Nedic and Aldmeri or Atmoran and Aldmeri. You should already know that if you are literally watching an Elder Scrolls Video.
Honestly a very respectable list. Very thorough, very researched. I would personally disagree as i love argonian culture and lore but that is my personal preference. I also love dunmer lore. Their hierarchy reminds a lot of menzoberranzan and faerûn lore for underdark drow which i find awesome as heck
Yeah... Can't disagree, Dark Elves are the best in Elder Scrolls. If I ever play another one of those games I might have to just straight up rip off Drizzt.
I must agree with your number 1 pick. At the moment I am playing a Dunmer that is a Vampire Lord (natural fire resist helps here a lot) with 100 Destruction, 100 Illusion, 100 Conjugation, 100 Light Armour, 100 Sneak, 86 Smithing, and 78 One-Handed. Aside the fact I have not attended a single day of school at the Mage College. I am the Listener, The assassin of the Emperor, the head of the Thieves Guild, and the defeater of Mirak and Alduin. Plus I'm crazy as hell and all deities want a piece of me.🤪
I'm consistantly confused how the people of Skyrim are so easily able to tell what race my character is when Imperials, Bretons and Nords look so human comparitively. Maybe I'm missing something. At least with the elves, there's some sort of tell, and there's no mistaking a khajit, and orc or an argonian
Imperials usually have darker features than Nords, darker skin, hair, eyes, etc. Nords look more, well, Nordic. And Bretons, iirc, are supposed to have pointed ears and other elven features. Skyrim doesn't convey this, but lore wise that's why they stand out.
@@CaptainEffortHeight can be a factor. I think Bretons are the shortest, then Imperials, and Nords the tallest. Their names can be a giveaway too. Nords obviously have Scandinavian sounding names, Imperials are Latin, and Breton are French inspired.
Nords are taller then the others. But I can only say who is Breton or imperial by the name. Bretons have frensh names and the imperials has old Roman names
Compare NPCs then: Nord Male: Ulfric, Balgruff Nord Female: Aela, Serana, Moll the Lioness (The Stormcloaks are mostly Nords, as is the Eastern cities. You hear the accent the sweet roll guards use, those are Nords. Tall, hair ranges from blonde to deep brown with a fair complexion, strong frame and build.) Breton Male: Belethor, Mercer Frey Breton Female: Delphine, Sybille Stentor (The Forsworn are all Bretons, as is most of Markarth. You hear the Courier's accent or that Wesr Coast American bland twang? Breton. Mid height, deep blonde to brown with more elvish skin tones.) Imperial Male: Tulius, Cicero, Dexion Imperial Female: Vittoria Vici, Camilla Valerius (They have a surname that's not Nordic? Imperial. They sound Latin/ Roman? Imperial. They're shorter and a bit more swarthy? Imperial.)
I'm glad to see my favorite race at #2, I grew up playing argonian since oblivion days, they're ability to breath under water is great for treasure hunting, in case the chests are underwater, and histskin is great for a tank build, which is what I normally do. And also the stuff in two handed helps.
One thing I like about the Argonians is how in ESO they elaborated on the culture they take inspiration from with that being Latin American civilisations like Aztec, Mayan etc
wierd putting high elves in second worst . they are by far the best . their ability can be used until end game plus 50 more extra magicka is usefull no matter how u put it even for non magickal build as u can use most spells early on and or use healing when u low on health instead of making potions
I love choosing the race of my character based purely on the characters background, morals, and goals. If I want them to come from wealth or be focused on amassing wealth, I choose Breton bc of the general importance of nobility in high rock. I choose imperial if their background is as a soldier, redguard or nord for mercenary, bosmer for hunting and camping, high elf for magic but gilded (enjoys nice things), dark elf for rags to riches, and everything else is pretty random
My first ever raced picked, Kahjit my most recent playthrough still Kahjit I will always play as a Kahjit. Argoinion or Dunmmer (Dark Elf) because they literally fit my style so well, the stealthy theif and assasin.
First character I played as was a Kahjit! Second playthrough was an Argonian. I personally enjoyed both. My 3rd playthrough was Kahjit again but I made mine a stealth hunter and kind of a theif since I felt more confident about the game mechanics.
Best races, in Daggerfall it's High elf (Immunity to paralyzation is too good.) in Morrowind onward it's Breton. (Resist magic is too good.) The Imperial pantheon yoinked Nordic Gods and gave them elven names, and combined them with the elven gods they were already worshiping. The Nord lore is pretty sick. The Breton saying "Find a new hill, become a king." is pretty badass. My first playthrough of each game was an Argonian. But I replayed as the Mog clan of orcs not too long ago. I played Durzug gro-Mog in Morrowind, Durmuk gro-Mog in Oblivion (Durzug and Durmuk's dad was one tough SOB.) and Ur gro-Mog in Skyrim.
Lol waterbreathing is so unnecessary though. Statistically the breton is the most powerful race, and makes for the fastest "Deity tier" character. Benefits to majic and dragonskin makes them perfect for the dragonborn. Whereas all of your favorites are based off of appearances. You truly are the skyrim racist😂.
he made some mistakes on the lore, saying stuff that's not canon is a reason not to like them... this really is a bunch of "bad vibes" reasoning. Racist!

Every single time it's a Breton. I like to summon things while hiding in heavy armor behind a shield.
You may have convinced me…
I feel like the Dunmer got a great lore because of Morrowind (the game).
Nord are really the only choice for the dragon born
ABSOLUTELY BASED
I just realized my two favorite races both are mix of Middle Eastern and Japanese culture.. dark elves are mix of Persian and Japanese and redguards mix of arabian and Japanese.
I was kinda hoping my Orc boys would finally make it to #1 but I'm glad they made it to #3 in this video 💚
Orcs are amazing
@@RogueRanks Indeed. The Orcs are always my personal go to player race.
I was SHOCKED that Altmer was ranked so low. Useful ability and they get an extra 50 points in magic. Magic builds aren’t for everyone, but second lowest in the rankings feels plain wrong.
Good points, I definitely wasn’t being very objective here 😂
My first skyrim character was an Orc battlemage named Klarrg. I roleplayed him being constantly high on Skyrim's various mushrooms and poisonous plants. He was really fun to play even though I barely did the main story at all, focusing more on the mage academy questline
Tool bad, Breton's are the most superior race in Skyrim
All are s tier because they have their use depending on the character and style you wanna play.
The best answer right here
@@RogueRanks I liked your video just found the concept of the video really funny.
What's interesting about Redguard lore is they came from a different timeline where Alduin actually won & the dragonborn died
Great video. I just hate how Khajits and Argonians wear SHOES like humans. In Morrowind they didn't as their feet had different shape. I feel like Khajits and Argonians have been castrated in Skyrim compared to Morrowind where they were significantly more unique.
Agreed, they took way too much of the”beast” out of the beast races
How dare you rank my superior Nord race #7!!!
I’m not racist… Talos guide you…
12:45 Dunmer in a nutshell.
Passives>>>>>Skills
Altmer are easily top 3 just from having tall models (they run faster and jump higher), same as Orsimer.
Bretons and Nords are also great choices for their passives (magic and frost resistance), half of Skyrim mages and Drakes do frost damage lol
Imperials make great thieves from their "Imperial luck" passive trait = economic boost = better gear
I've been a Redguard ever since Morrowind. Redguard for life
@@rogerm1764 Redguards are awesome
4:20 There is a way to incorporate the cannibal / carnivore aspect of playing as a Bosmer. You would seek the hall of the dead in Markarth, wherein a side quest can be started to obtain the ring of Namira. This daedric artifact allows the player to exponentially raise their health and stamina by feeding on the dead.
I believe there are also mods to do this but great point!
Seems like you definitely know what you're talking about.. When it's comes to race..
I've subbed..
I've had arguments with people about redguards being based on Japanese culture. Thanks for confirming. My favorite race to play.
I love being an orc even the fucking dragons are racist saying they can’t believe I’m Dragonborn and an orc
😂
"Shreks gon give it to ya!" -the dragonborn while bludgeoning a big lizard
"Voice of the Emperor" was basically rewritten between Oblivion and Skyrim. It used to do the "charm/persuade" effect, rather than "calm". Which, I found much more useful than Skyrim's counterpart.
Having Imperials so high and Bosmer so low is unforgivable.
Do irl races next
My first ever Legendary playthrough was on the xbox 360 with the argonian race, hitskin came in handy for a lot of situations.
My second was with was with Kahjiit, I just felt like playing the cat
Maybe for my third I'll try a Dunmer or Nord playthrough but unlike the last two which I relied on Sword and shield, I'll try more of a spellsword playthrough where I'll rely on conjuration and destruction magic with my sword being the back up weapon.
Thanks for the insight! I didn't know my lore as well as I thought
redguards are also very different because they aren't originally from the world of tamriel. yeah, it's weird.
7:23 Naoki Yamamoto has entered the chat
Imperials - Boring to roleplay, generic “Roman” aesthetic😴
Bosmer - 99% lore, 1% gameplay🥱
Orsimer - Just too ugly🤮
Nord - Generic “Nordic” Viking warrior types🇸🇪🇳🇴
Redguard - Middle eastern tropes, but best warriors⚔️
Khajiit - Literally furries🐱
Altmer - Best mages but also snide, condescending right-wing ultranationalists🇮🇹🇩🇪🇮🇱
Breton - Badass half-elf spellknights, but fall into European fantasy tropes🏰
Argonians - Lizard people rise up!🦎
Dunmer - Everyone knows that dark elves have the best lore and roleplaying😎
(Seriously though you convinced me to play an Orc, you made some really good points)
🦎
Nah orcs are badass, sometimes I just want to go oonga boonga with a two handed hammer
You made the Altmer sound cool
@@lardomcfarty9866 bro thats bc they really are tall , fast and having so many mana perfect for mages or necromancers
I love that unpredictability about orcs that Skyrim gives us. Let's remember the first time we saw orc as an extinguished librarian, as the worst bard in the province and as an introvert genius chef
I have a race mod so for me the best is argonian. their passives:
Amphibious - sneak 100% better and gain 15% movement speed increase for 60 seconds after leaving the water
Histborn - when stamina, magicka or health go bellow 20% regenerate half the difference per second
Its insane
@@friendlyneighborhoodmemer18 hell yeah you just said what I was thinking good on you man
WTF is a Breton?
Dual sword w/ animal summon spell
@@RogueRanks Yes!! lol 10/10
Plus I'm crazy as hell and all deities want a piece of me.🤪
Dunmer superiority ftw
@@CyranofromBergerac Good point, and I'm sure accents play a part too
Nords are taller then the others. But I can only say who is Breton or imperial by the name. Bretons have frensh names and the imperials has old Roman names
Compare NPCs then:
Nord Male: Ulfric, Balgruff
Nord Female: Aela, Serana, Moll the Lioness
(The Stormcloaks are mostly Nords, as is the Eastern cities. You hear the accent the sweet roll guards use, those are Nords. Tall, hair ranges from blonde to deep brown with a fair complexion, strong frame and build.)
Breton Male: Belethor, Mercer Frey
Breton Female: Delphine, Sybille Stentor
(The Forsworn are all Bretons, as is most of Markarth. You hear the Courier's accent or that Wesr Coast American bland twang? Breton. Mid height, deep blonde to brown with more elvish skin tones.)
Imperial Male: Tulius, Cicero, Dexion
Imperial Female: Vittoria Vici, Camilla Valerius
(They have a surname that's not Nordic? Imperial. They sound Latin/ Roman? Imperial. They're shorter and a bit more swarthy? Imperial.)
You sure nailed the viewer engagement with this video XD
Dark Elves are superior
Yes
Hell yeah bro
N'wahs be seething
Great video. Very indepth and hilariously informative lol
I don’t really care which race is or isn’t the best, I just enjoy playing the races that I like. (Except the Altmer, fuck the High Elves)
"Your lack of cooperation has been noted" -Thalmor justiciar
wierd putting high elves in second worst . they are by far the best . their ability can be used until end game plus 50 more extra magicka is usefull no matter how u put it even for non magickal build as u can use most spells early on and or use healing when u low on health instead of making potions
True but they are Altmer
I love choosing the race of my character based purely on the characters background, morals, and goals. If I want them to come from wealth or be focused on amassing wealth, I choose Breton bc of the general importance of nobility in high rock. I choose imperial if their background is as a soldier, redguard or nord for mercenary, bosmer for hunting and camping, high elf for magic but gilded (enjoys nice things), dark elf for rags to riches, and everything else is pretty random
The best way to play
Never liked playing the short races
Heightism!
1: Argonian 2: Khajit 3: Altmer 4: who cares not interested
7:39 what is that armor!!!??

My first ever raced picked, Kahjit my most recent playthrough still Kahjit I will always play as a Kahjit. Argoinion or Dunmmer (Dark Elf) because they literally fit my style so well, the stealthy theif and assasin.
S tier : White
A tier : East asian
B tier : Arabian
C tier : South east Asian, Hispanic
D tier : indian, black people
First character I played as was a Kahjit! Second playthrough was an Argonian. I personally enjoyed both. My 3rd playthrough was Kahjit again but I made mine a stealth hunter and kind of a theif since I felt more confident about the game mechanics.
Khajiit thief is GOATED
Imperial finds more gold though, I can't help but disagree with your entire list.
I’m a kleptomaniac so I’m swimming in gold in no time anyways.
Best races, in Daggerfall it's High elf (Immunity to paralyzation is too good.) in Morrowind onward it's Breton. (Resist magic is too good.)
The Imperial pantheon yoinked Nordic Gods and gave them elven names, and combined them with the elven gods they were already worshiping.
8:26 Furries are a W
No
Lol waterbreathing is so unnecessary though.
Racist!
@gabbonoo i swear. They aren't bland just because they look human and or actually are human. Atleast they have good looks on their side unlike the argonians and cats.
@@justinmcintire7595 well, they look good more easily. takes some effort to make an argonian look pretty or expressive
