    This is without a doubt THE most exciting, fascinating JTV episode to date! Thank you so much to Brian, JTV, and Natalie for sharing this wonderful experience! It was great that Natalie climbed the ladder to provide scale for the rhodochrosite vein, and really special that she got to mine her own souvenir.

    You're quite lucky being the first tourist in the mine. You should do more of these Gem-ventures someday. Maybe at the Crown Jewel Mine in Thunder Bay, Ontario. It's only one of nearly several localites in the world where the leek variety of Quartz, Prasiolite comes from.

      When I passed near this mine in 2006 fellow rock hunters were all dejected that the Sweet Home Mine had closed. I had seen the best of the crystals at the museums in Denver and Hpuston and numerous videos we viewed at our club showing other collections. So I appreciate Natalie's enthusiasm. Thanks to all that share this feeling.

    YES! Keep this content up and let's see a ruby mine next! This kind of educational and travel content is what we crave. There aways needs to be an element of growth and evolution to a channel to keep it's spirit alive and this is just the kind of next step in production we want to see it go.

    Colorado rocks for rocks 😬👍 Anyway there is no empirical scientific evidence those crystals are 33,000,000 years old, that’s pure theoretical conjecture that’s taught in our modern biased educational systems just like macro evolution. Let’s just enjoy these gems and minerals for what they are .. gifts from God that display His glory just like the galaxies and nebulae do in the night sky. Thanks for filming the tour, as a long time mineral collector with a couple Rhodochrosites in my cabinets I found this really interesting. Peace ✌️

    I remember the episode where you had a lovely carved opal piece. And it makes me wonder if jewellers or artists who carve with stone or minerals really know where their specimens come from. And how appreciative they are of the work that's gone in to unearthing the pieces they're working on/with.
    I live in Southern Ontario and I've wanted to go to Bancroft for a few years now to go rock hunting in the public areas. This just makes me want to do it more!

    Go to the Himalaya mine for Tourmaline or the California State Gem Mine for Benitoite!
    In other words...come to California! ;)

    • @mrmoondoggful
      @mrmoondoggful 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @No Comps Oh...so only the mines that make money are worth visiting? Noted...
      Screw the little guy, in other words.

    • @mrmoondoggful
      @mrmoondoggful 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @No Comps So...you agree...screw the little guy...
      Maybe if JTV did some pieces about the small mines...it would generate more interest, thus generating more specimens. Also, i'm pretty sure I am not the only one who would want to see that. And if you don't think any quality material has been pulled out of the two mines that I mentioned, then you have no idea what you are talking about. ;)

    • @mrmoondoggful
      @mrmoondoggful 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      “When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser.”
      ― Socrates @No Comps
      Interest would generate possible investment, which would generate more mining...which would generate more possible pockets found...which would generate more income.
      You do know how a mining business works, right?
      And the Himalaya mine, in terms of mining operations is small...or did you actually think I was talking about the range in Asia?! LOL
      The one I am talking about is in California.

    how much is rhodochrosite? That little gem she harvested, how much would it retail for? I don't understand how these guys can go YEARS, 50 hours a week, 4 dudes, wasting explosives, water, electricity, pumping oxygen, etc. Its gotta be expensive.... They go years and they finally find rhodochrosite and its 2 inches thick and 16 inches in diameter? How expensive could that be?? Its gotta be super expensive.
