@ your welcome again for the razors bud. I rather see guys that enjoy the milder razors get good use from them plus I hope it’s a little help for your channel as well. Happy holidays and god bless.
I bought the rex ambassador a few weeks ago, with the stand, and omg. I love it so much I took advantage of razor's emporium black friday sale, that I bought the envoy, sentry and konsul. I'm still waiting to receive those. Totally worth the cost!
Same with me! Well, I didn’t buy all of them, but I bought the ambassador on the sale… it’s an amazing razor! I love the heft of it! It’s got great blade feel (I like that).
I haven’t had the opportunity to try a Rex Razor (they’re out of my budget) but I love me some Cella. I’m not sure Cella’s bang for the buck can be beat!
That was an impressive shave. I think that is the most growth I have seen you shave off and that razor and blade just went through it with ease. I don't know whether to be impressed with the razor or the blade. I guess I will have to settle for both. Thanks for the video.
WOW! It's like you used a bushwacker on your face. Amazing how easily that razor mowed down 12 days of growth. Nice razor review, Dave. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I hope your foot is healing well.
Thanks for the great video David. Love my ambassador. Not brave enough to go more than dial 4. Rex does have many qualities razor. Definitely can feel the blade. Especially with sentry, can take down a week growth easily in my experience. merry Christmas and Happy new year David 🎉
Loved this video. Dave, do you normally shave off your beard when you have extended growth or do you normally hit it with your Philips One Blade or another trimmer first, bring it down to a manageable length and shave? The video is a great demonstration of how this razor works and its level of aggression. I have recently found that my sensitive skin responds better to aggressive razors than mile. I just bought the Rex Ambassador and excited for it to arrive. Also added 10 blades of the AccuForge to give them a test run before I commit to a big box. Will run the blades through the Ambassador, 6s and AL 13++ to put them through their paces and check my results! Pumped!!!
Great video, I have a Konsul and love it. Ambassador is on my to buy list. Have you tried the Rex blades, they are Czech made but are phenominal. I like them more than the Accuforge.
I bought a Rex Ambassador and a Rockwell T2 in stainless steel this November. My razor for the last year or so has been a Rockwell 6S. I only shave about twice a week & I usually start with #4 plate, then finish with the other side which is a #2. I have to say that I like the Ambassador more than the T2 - and the T2 is really good. But now I alternate between the Ambassador and the 6S. Both are great razors. I appreciate your videos and your replies to my comments and questions which helped me find these fine razors.
Hi Dave, glad you finally got a chance to use the Ambassador. As a newbie to DE wet shaving, (June of this year) I have but 2 razors, the Henson Al 13 ++ and the Ambassador. I love both for different reasons. The Henson because its so smooth and as you have pointed out in your vids you get more perfect shaves with the Henson than from your other razors. The Henson is like a Lexus ES 350, looks good and is utterly reliable, with no surprises good or bad. But the Ambassador, that's a Lambo that you have to learn how to drive or it will punish your crappy technique. I was on the verge of getting rid of the Ambassador after a couple of weeks but I finally figured out the correct angles and once I did voila, it became a totally different razor. Of course with your recommendations, Gentle John's alum, Thayers, a Timeless handle coupled with a G5 C knot, (though I just ordered a Pure Bliss 24 mm from Andrew) I now feel like I am no longer blindly groping for a great daily shave. I no longer have RAD! BTW do you have any recommendations for an unscented after shave? My wife is very allergic to fragrance and I am not a fan of using her skin moisturizer as an after shave balm😅 Hope your injury has healed and Happy New Year! You're a great resource for us. Also glad you gave a shout out to Matt at Razor Emporium. You're right he's a great guy, loves what he does and the puts everything into his Rex razors. Now once I use up ny 60 blade sample pack, I'll go to the Accu Forge blades!
Another great video, David. BTW, my wife listens in on my videos and says your voice sound a bit like Robert Downey Jr.🤔 Anyhow, happy new year to you! Keep up the great videos.
I love my ambassador in raw stainless steel. I got it on Black Friday sale, and it’s been great to shave with. I love the heft of the steel. The machining is excellent! Has lots of blade feel, which I personally really, really like. I never really realized how mild my merkur 24c was in comparison that I have been using the last 4 years. I found setting 3 to be my favorite setting, and typically shave every 3-4 days. The stand is awesome too. Expensive, but it’s heavy! Basically a solid block of machined steel. Buy once cry once; and have a razor for life!
(1) The glue spots on the blades still are not obsctacles (at least for me). (2) Making the transition from bowl lathering, to face lathering, is easy (eventually). (3) I still use a bowl to start a face lather; the paste is what I spread onto my face (or my head) and then I add water to the brush and transfer this to the paste, and sooner enough to the lather on my face and continue the lather building on my face (or on my head).
i know this isn't shaving related...Where did you purchase your shower curtains from if you don't mind me asking sir? Hope you had a very beautiful safe Merry Christmas with family.
Hey Dave! Love your videos. This is kind of off topic but why would a simpson shaving brush cost almost $450 on the Westcoast shaving website.. the chuby 3 I belive.. just generally curious 🤔 keep up the great work my man!
Hey, David. Did you get the email from Jake over at YPM? So unfortunate. I hope they're in fact able to keep the Yates brand alive. I love my quality shaving gear from them! Best wishes and Happy New Years to all shavers out there❤
One thing, the handle of the ambassador and envoy are like skateboard grip tape in the best way possible. The grip with water or even soap in your hand is awesome. I bought the sentry for the handle basically, think it looks cooler but that feels slick in my hand compared to the other, so now I end up using the Envoy handle even when I use my Sentry. I think the ambassador, if like the Envoy has a learning curve because it is aggressive, BUT once you get the hang of it, she will give you smooth irritation free shaves. I say this as someone with a very sensitive neck.
Looks great. Got a Rockwell 6S for the holidays and can’t wait to try it. Question: got the Rockwell shave cream with the set. I have only used shave soap. Do you just put a dab in the shave bowl with some water? Also, it came with Rockwell blades as well. How are they? One last. Always used the 3 plate on my old Rockwell. Should I jump to the 6 or 4? Great vid and keep em coming.
I love my Rex razor it’s a fantastically well made razor that I love to use!! Never tried those blades yet but I’m saving my penny’s for that timeless razor I’m still after
What do you use to shave your head? Do you use a DE Safety Razor for that also? If so, do you have recommendations for that? Same one you use for your face? Different considerations for that? Thanks!
yeah, if you like a double edge razor on your face, you're gonna definitely like it on your head. I found that more aggressive razors are easier for me to shave my head with though.
