To draw a simple lotus flower, start by lightly sketching a small oval at the center of your page; this will be the base of the flower. Draw a vertical line through the center of the oval, then extend two diagonal lines from the top of the oval, forming a "Y" shape.
Next, draw the first petal by sketching a rounded triangle shape with the tip pointing upward, starting from the center of the oval. Repeat this step on each side of the "Y" to create three petals. These should slightly overlap, giving a natural look.
Now, add more petals behind the first three, making them slightly larger and pointed. Continue adding petals until you have about eight or more, arranging them in a circular pattern to fill out the flower.
To finish, draw two or three larger petals at the base, curving outward. Add a few more overlapping petals to give depth. Erase any unnecessary lines and go over your drawing with a darker pencil or pen. Finally, add shading or color to bring your lotus to life, paying attention to the natural gradients in the petals.
