I remember the days when I could ride this and quote every single word from it....good times. I'll never dislike this coaster - I grew up with it, after all! Thanks for the video :)

This ride is 97% exactly the same as the Fire in the Hole ride at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Mo. I've been on that ride probably 200 times, love it!!

I agree with you . It's the oldest and most classic ride in the park,and one of the few remaining attractions that remind us of the SDC days.
Oh my goodness! I used to love that ride. That's been there since it was Silver Dollar City.

@@BradyPetway Actually Dollywood was indeed SDC Tennessee before being renamed when Dolly Parton came into partnership with the Hershends. Before SDCTN it was called Goldrush Junction. During the SDCTN years the two parks were built up to mirror each other with similar attractions thus having the same dark ride just slightly rethemed to fit the region. Both parks used to also have The Flooded Mine but the only one that still exists today is at the original SDC in Branson, MO. Both parks also had a Waterboggan ride but the surviving one at Dollywood was removed last year.
This ride used to terrify me when I was younger.

They had to take it out because they put hydraulic (I think that's how you spell it) brakes on the ride and they didn't 'agree' with the water.
This Blazing Fury has been at Dollywood (before it was Dollywood) for 35 years. Silver Dollar City was there before DW and that is where it originated.

What a classic. I wish they would build another dark ride; I miss the flooded mine one they used to have.

Haha I just love the part where Molly wants to jump off the roof, and all of us frequent Dollywood-goers always chant, "JUMP! JUMP!" even before she starts talking.
A new finale has been added at the end of the attraction. There is now lasers that shine on a layer of smoke making a water like looking effect. Also during the 2013 season there have been upgrades to the rude vehichles and ride system. The cars are now completely orange. The ride operator control booth has been expanded and the wall behind it has been removed. The ride queue has new pictures, paint and speakers.
i FREAKIN LOVE THIS RIDE!!!!!!!!!!! lol when you go through one of the dark parts, you can hear random hillbilly country music, idt you can hear it in the video though. lol but theres only one thing i have left to say, and thats FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!!!!!!!!
when i was a kid they had a really slow day there and no one at all was going on this ride so i just sat there and they would restart the ride again and i went on the thing by myself without even having to get out like 6 or 7 times before i had to leave.
love those types of rides because you get cool visual treats and then the roller coaster surprise too. the mummy ride in orlando is like that also, i want to go on them both right now

My friend Jackson is terrified of rollercoasters, but me and my friend Sabrina were able to talk him into riding this one. He was so scared, I had sat in front of them with a little girl who didn't have anyone to ride with, while Sabrina sat with Jackson. He was deathly quiet the entire ride, of course him being him made snide comments about the fire and everything. End of the ride though, he was white faced and white knuckled from holding the bar so tightly. I have never seen him so scared.
It was so great to see the two people on the loading platform as the train came back into the station. Those two were a couple of my absolute favorite people to work with when I worked at this ride in 2012!

Wikipedia says during the 2010 off season, they took out the water at the end and installed magnetic brakes so they could keep this open all year long. Is this true? I LOVED being splashed with water at the end!
Oh yeah, i remember the Flooded Mine. My dad went in it once, but i was too scared to go in it. lol I did however ride Blazing Fury when i was younger. The train part near the end was always my favorite. Looked like it was coming at you, and then the coaster train makes a sudden drop in the dark. =) You know what else i hate? Pigeon Forge getting rid of Magic World...remember that small park? It had the Spider ride out front and a Haunted Castle dark ride-thru, which i was too chicken to ride.

Blazing Fury is the only roller coaster I will go on! My Friend and I went on it she kept hanging on to me asking when it was over I was like Here comes the train she looks up we dive down she goes HOLY SHIT! Haha Memories forever

Expensive to maintain, the air brakes now are much less wear and tear on the equipment. I haven't rode this in years but I hear the plan was to add in some new effects at the end to sort of make up for the lack of splashdown.
@gleek4life1 No Blazing Fury was established in 1978-1979,but Flooded Mine was removed in the 90`s to make room for Daredevil Falls,and Blazing Fury was still there.It`s one my favorite rides at Dollywood.I didn`t like it when they took out some of the theme and splashdown out.
The dynamite shack at the end isn't really there anymore and the water was removed
@rollercoatserNERD The ride before the drops is the lift hill. You don't notice it since there isn't much of an incline

I had just went that day for the first time in 6 years. Which is sad considering I live in East TN. I was talking to the person who said the water was there 2 weeks ago, which I had a feeling that wasn't true. It just isn't the same without the water.

LOL, I didn't know this was a coaster until the bridge I was like "Daddy look the bridge is out! *few seconds later* Oh no! We're going to the bridge!" Then I hit my head after the train.
Silver dollar city is dollywoood's sister park, so its possible whichever one came first (there are in fact two different rides by the way) gave the other park the idea. they are different in some ways, even though it may look like an exact replica.

Dollywood used to be called silver dollar city, do you guys have a ride called the flooded mines too in branson? it used to be in Dollywood also. i dont know why but it got removed i guess.
It didn't get removed, just rode it for the 1st time with my kids last weekend.

at dolly wood if you ride the mystery mine there is real fire that burst out and look like it will hit you but you start to go down a hill its sooooo fun I love dolly wood
No the urban legend for Blazing Fury started in late 2010/Early 2011 when the water was removed from Blazing Fury and some kids started the rumor.The Flooded Mine rumor was started after it was removed in the 90's.

I rode it yesterday 4 times on a field trip. It isn't scary at all... there are just 3 hills that are wierd... but other than that, it's really cool

@adam94081, I don't know. They said they were have technical difficulties. The smoke was probably burned rubber from the light of the fire. I was riding and my sisters got so freaked out.

Is this a clone of the SDC ride of the same name? It would make sense, though, since Dollywood was once owned by SDC.

There is actually, it has been named lucky silver mine, flooded mine and now the great american shootout in which you shoot at targets surrounding the old theme of prisoners, there is a yt video of it named flooded mine.
miss the water on this ride that was the fun part for me :).
I love this ride. But I really miss the flooded mine, its been gone fore years since that kid got bit by a snake.
@adam94081, I was at the beginning when the first one happened and the second stop, I was at the Hotel where that dummy said "I got a bad back."
I'd also like to see a Daredevil Falls POV,since their are no proper ones on TH-cam.

im from sandusky ohio and work at cedar point, i do love it when my family goes on vacation to TN and we go to dollywood, this is a must ride.. even though it seems a little boring at times, it's still an awsome ride

They took the Flooded Mine out because of a copper head infestation. They installed new magnetic brakes on this ride which did not work well with the water which was previously used to slow the ride... or something like that. Either way, the removal of the water kinda ruined the end.
wow, it was silver dollar city, then dolly bought it out and changed the name to dollywood. and it is the same ride.
Only certain people can tell me what the blazing fury was before Dollywood changed it. What was the name?
You obviously don't know the history of this ride,or park to not like it.Even though it's not as thrilling as the other coasters,it's a classic.

We go every year to DollyWood and we Ride this and every coaster! I rode the new Coaster Wild Eagle.Anyone else ride it? IT'S FUN!
A long while ago when ever sliver dollar city was replaced by Dollywood
The way people are implying, is that the ride got removed and not talking about the water. and there was a little splatter of water when we rode it, it wasn't a whole lot, just a little.
I have had the worst experience on this ride i was forced onto this ride cause my parents wouldn't let me stay out (i was little) and i cried during the whole ride cause i was so scared (they told me it was nothing) and i almost fell out on all 3 drops :(

No that's an urban legend. The real reason they got rid of Flooded Mine was becasue of Daredevil Falls.

Now there is a big boom at the end and so much changed I went to DollyWood today it scared me because it was not there last time I came 😆
