Maybe it's just me .... but get a laser pen, because I think there are a lot of shots that wouldn't be able to be fired, because of the missing line of sight.🤷♂ But nevertheless a great game and great battle report 👍👍 well done 👌 You are so close to becoming my favorite FOW channel ... Good calm voice, good explanation, good variety of the time periods (early, mid, late) ... The only thing that pisses me off 🤪😁 is the light ...or particular the lack of it ... many thanks for showing and please keep up the good work 💪 ps. Unlike the Tobruk set, the Kasserine set seems to be reasonably well balanced...👌 Great starter set, think I'd better buy myself a set or two...😉
I watched this because I had just picked up the Kasserine set myself, although I have my own fiendish plans for the set. It was the first time I had seen one of your videos and I must say, if nothing else the quality was good. Your editing was spot on. Your sound recording was clear and level, your voice steady and strong and most important of all, you stayed on topic. A top presentation in my view.
Thank you very much. Glad you enjoyed and I always try to make the best reports with what I have. Hope you enjoy my other videos and enjoy your Kasserine set.
As for the demo game, it was interesting to watch but here are a couple of points I would pass on to new starters; 1. Always use cover when advancing. In that first US turn my Lee's would have been behind the house, the Stuarts fully behind the trees and the Shermans behind the low walls, You said they counted as moving anyway. 2. Your first target should have been the guns. They are dangerous and were exposed on the top of the hill, both the Lee's and the Sherman's could have used HE on them and they are more vulnerable than the tanks. Plus, if you killed them you have a flank to use on the tanks which immediately has the German reconsidering his own battle plan. 3. For allies, always close to half range and focus as much fire on one unit as you can. 4. To my mind the next addition to anyone's force is artillery. Always underrated but it has greater range, fires indirectly, so behind the hill, and the bombardment hits the top armour. Add some infantry for protection. In case you were wondering, I have only played a few games of this against my son. However I have played a lot of other wargames and no matter the scenario, concentration of fire and use of cover allow the best chance of closing with minimal casualties and maximum chance of damage to the enemy. I'm hunting for your next vid to see what you put out.
@@valleygamingfowmesbgswl I'm new to flames of war (usually a hex and counter gamer) . I have wanted to give it a go for a while and I've finally caved in and gone for it as I've always been interested in the desert campaign. So when they arrive I'll have lots of tanks to paint up and get to the table!
I enjoyed it! I was real surprised on how durable the American tanks were, shrugged off a lot of shots. I will note the side armor is also better on the Americans, so it really does benefit them to get stuck in early.
Why no infantry in those starter boxes? Kasserine and Tobruk without infantry support...maybe a restock soon? Maybe Mid desert front will be a "Tanks/WoT-like game"? I hope this is just a stock problem with British/DAK/italian infantry references, just remaking in plastic.
I'm not sure why no infantry. It was still fun to play and when I picked the game up when v4 launched I didn't have infantry for months. Game changer when they arrived but had a good understanding of the game at that point so worked well I felt.
I would say it is because infantry units in the desert are quite small and relatively cheap to buy. They are usually used as a defensive fire base protecting artillery a lot of the time. If you don't have the manuals for the armies look at getting the compendium and you will see what I mean. But you are right. An infantry unit occupying that big building would have been a total nuisance to either army with its section weapons. As you can imagine, in the desert distances were enormous for troops on foot. It was why the British armoured units beat the Italians in 1940/41 so easily. The Italians did not have enough transport and was mainly infantry. So an armoured force 1/10th their size drove around them and cut the supply line, job done. Can't fight an army without food and water.
But replay Tobruk without australian troops or german pioneers is awful. Ruweisat without infantry? Africa was not the "tank battle" World of Tanks-style, but without infantry stock seems to be just that 🤷🏻♂️

Awesome, just ordered this for my first time playing FOW. Thanks for explaining it for us newbies👍
Hope you enjoy
Nicely done! Enjoyed the report and look forward to more of your content.
Thanks for the support. Its Tobruk this weekend

Nicely presented. Good format for new players.
Cheers bud. Surprised me how long the video was. Surprising how all the movement and die rolls add up
@@valleygamingfowmesbgswl It does take a lot of time but worth it in the format you've done here Rob.
Thanks for this, very helpful. I've just ordered both starter sets, so this is perfect timing. I'll look forward to the next report on Tobruk.
Excellent you new to the hobby or just expanding?

Considering the Germans had a points advantage I was very proud of the American performance

Tanks are a great way to get people into the game because the rules are simpler. Infantry brings a second set of rules.
