I use dye to identify birds when flying. There are many different combinations to mark a pigeon with one colour tips, tail, wings left ,right, mid combinations are endless. When your flying a lot of checker badges they all look the same in the air.
When the bops turn up ,I whistle to let the birds know their is danger around. The birds get used to the whistle as a danger. So you can turn the tables and use it to your advantage if you want to drop the bird’s
Hi John please could you help me im new to rollers. im from UK and follow your channel heard you mention you not flying when in moult. Iv got 8, 4 month old rollers, i had them flying for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Then recently over the past week they been flying for 5 minutes and dropping to the house roof, they have never landed on the roof of my house always the kitbox. Nothing has change feed wise. Could moulting be the causing this issue? Please can you help me
No not at all, there may be some under laying health issues, probably worms, all my birds get flown through the moult, the only ones I look after are flown out birds. Once the bird’s have started rolling correctly, are doing time and everything else correct, flown at least 12 /18 months, . I would only fly them 2/3 times a week for fitness
@@johnpriestley8310 ok thanks for the reply I will worm them and see if it changes, they was flying nicely for 45 minutes to 1 hour, then seemed within 5 days went from 45 minutes to 1 hour to literally 5 maybe 10 minutes and landing on the house roof. The droppings seem fine normal droppings. So thought maybe it was the moult causing the issue
Look for any of them over working on the arse of your small kit .over the years I would see this from time to time .one bad young bird will spoil the flying time of the kit .answer is eliminate the problem bird.
@@ianbirkett5803 hi Ian thanks so much for your reply, sorry if a silly question. What would you mean by over working behind the kit. Im New to rollers but definitely want to learn ad much has I can. My birds are ment to from the harper line. It seemed they was all perfect flying 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes. Then all of a sudden dropped to 5 to 10 minutes. I switched them to 50/50 wheat and milo with abit of millet small small amount this morning they flew for 25 minutes went pretty high too best iv had them in about a week and half. Thanks so much for the reply
@@ianbirkett5803 I did add two younger birds to the older birds could that be the issue too what do you think Ian? And if saw how would I go about flying the younger 2 in with the older lot. Sorry for all the questions. Thanks

Hi John, I noticed you have what looks like pink paint on some of your birds. What is the reason for this?
Nice video Chino Les Ot pigeon flyer
What size is each kit box? And how many birds can fit in each kit box?
I'm interested to buy a few pairs!?
Excellent video, John. Your birds look terrific. What is the purpose of the pink dye on the birds?
