I'm glad Jen enjoyed playing. Even though she had frustrations about not being able to do things as well like driving a Warthog, she improved a ton. As she gets more gaming literacy, that stuff will come naturally. I expect after playing through a few more games she will have it down. I mean even look at this video vs the first level of the game. There is a huge increase in skill. I play Call of Duty with my dad and he beats up on himself because he isn't on par with all the young sweaty players. He doesn't realize though the insane difference playing over the past year has made. It just comes with time and practice. I hope you guys end up doing Halo 2 and beyond. It would be fun to see the story through (including Reach).

Ok, some tips and knowledge for halo 2 - The mazelike game design is a holdover from 90s game design, and is only present in halo 1. - For Halo 2, make sure you start the game as just 1 player, because for some odd reason it skips the first few cutscenes if you’re playing 2 players. - To avoid some confusion, for Halo 2 Anniversary there is a prologue cutscene which features characters for Halo 5. This is because at the time that H2A was released they were also marketing Halo 5, so the prologue is just a tie in to that (Canonically the Arbiter is retelling the events of Halo 2). - For both H1A and H2A, the View on the controller switches between classic and remastered graphics. The remastered cutscenes are a gift from god. - Each level in H1A and H2A has a hidden terminal which you can find . Jen found the one at the beginning of Two betrayals. Terminals are short animated cutscenes that were made for the two remasters, these are very awesome and essentially flesh out the backstory of the games. And breathe, ok I think that was it, hope you guys had fun doing this, looking forward to Halo 2!!!!!

I wish Jen got to experience it in the original graphics. The original graphics do a better job of capturing the atmosphere. Hope you guys get to play Halo 2 because that’s where the story really picks up.
The silent cartographer is my favorite level. There is a way down to the map room with minimal alien killing. Then when you go back up you get to fight all the enemies not killed and all the new ones spawned in.
I can see from her movements that she's still getting used to the controls. Getting better. But not yet internalized the buttons as an extension of herself. Once she gets that, she will have much more fun.
This watch was awesome! Would love to see you guys go through til at least halo 3, if not reach. I do get all of Jen’s complaints but it gets better in terms of level design. I would only suggest she watch a recap of the story before moving forward since she barely got to understand what was happening. I’m pretty sure you can add subtitles
The highlight of Halo is definitely the story. The gameplay is good, but the story is what separates it from other FPS. I just wish they did the TV show right. PLEASE don’t watch the Paramount series if you don’t want to ruin Master Chief for yourself
