Her only (repeated) argument throughout this entire exchange is that "public policy" is circumvented (by originalist courts). Ben keeps trying to tell her that the courts ARE NOT SWORN TO UPHOLD PUBLIC POLICY! They're sworn and committed to upholding THE CONSTITUTION and all laws AS WRITTEN! Can anyone tell what part of this she just doesn't understand?
There are people in our society who feel anyone who doesn't have the same views as they do, they are the scum of the earth. The reason there are numerous people on a court jury is to hear the different views and to weigh them against what the charges are to hopefully come up with the correct decision.
We talked about this in our Constitutional Law class and my teacher talked about how both extremes are bad, not interpreting the law in a way that it can be applied now a days and also using the law in a way that it benefits you or your beliefs, which is actually not a normal evolution of the law, but an arbitrary modification!
She says more women are needed in government and the supreme court, because she views women as awful politicians since they'd only serve the women and not the people, but when it's suggested that Ivanka be elected, she scoffs at the idea.
