    Woah, very cool!
And thanks for saving me the experiment, although I'll be plenty happy if mine turns out even half so nice.

What pen do you recommend? I really would like to do this!

For this project, you need a pen that can handle high heat. I love the Colwood brand. I used a Colwood Detailer, but I had to turn it to its highest heat. If you plan to do a bunch of projects like this, the Colwood Super Pro is what you want.

      Happy burning!

If you just have the one project, then I would get the Detailer because you can do a lot more projects on a slightly lower heat. The detailer has a great capacity to go super high and super low. It’s my favorite machine you can use the same link in the same discount code if you want one

    Is the smell bad?

What do you suggest for a temperature for burning teeth through the enamel?

That really depends on your burner. Every burner is different. What machine’s 240° is not the same as another machine’s 240°. There are variables like hand piece cords, the metal of the nib, the way the pen conducts the heat from the heat source… But you would likely need a high heat, not a medium high heat. Test out the heat levels on your burner on a scrap piece of bone (or wood if you don’t have bone) and see what heat levels work for your machine. Just remember, if you are working at a high heat, you need to give the tool some time to relax. Running for long periods of time at high heat will destroy a nib.

What finish did you use for the spray polycrylic? Clear matte? Clear satin? Clear crystal? Something like that?

Always clear! I use satin and semi-gloss regularly 🙌

I've been having a real adventure getting a cattle skull ready, for like 6 months already: cream developer, anthill, south sun for the summer, sanding and brushing, another bleach bath, and now it's drying. Another go with sanding and hopefully the last of the yuckies come off. Ultimately, I'm going to try doing a fractal burn. If that doesn't work, I'm going with the original plan. LOL
This piece you've done is amazing!
