Excellent Video. PSA for fellow DIY'ers - Not 100% specific to this video but, If you anchor them together to tightly laterally your doors may 'warp' a few millimeters and not fit after painting and such. If this helps one person I have done my good work for the year. I spent probably 30 hours solving this - I went down rabbit holes of video saying my hinges were not adjusted correctly or the paint was to thick in some spots. I was certain I was adjusting correctly and paint wasn't the issue but I kept being told to re-approach it. I would take a few day break to ease frustration and re-try. So when I overtightened. Visibly it may look fine, but it may drive you mad, and after adjust hinges multiple times the hinges will shift very very slightly when opening and closing doors. I made this mistake by anchoring to tightly to each other into the 2x4s that run vertically. I also toggle bolted the side walls so that further warped them. It wasn't visible and wouldn't be measurable with a tape measurer by a lay-person (me when it comes to carpentry). My path of lease resistance was to cut 1/8 or less off one door of each pair of cabinets and adjust. With 3 seems (left middle and right) on each cabinet you can't see it. I PROBABLY could have unscrewed the fasteners connecting the cabinets side to side, but I was concerned the cabinets may retain their warped shape. Also if you have glass inserts in the doors don't use printer paper in the gap to mask, its a nightmare to get out. A video like this is phenomenal and if someone wants to try this based on the 10 second reel or short consult this first. TLDR; tighten just enough to be effective when anchoring or attaching cabinets laterally so they don't warp and prevent doors from closing. Hand tighten and not impact driver.
Great project. Love the base you stand them on. A lot of kitchens in USA are built like that. I would of levelled the wood base first it would of saved messing with the whole thing
loved your project. you did a wonderful job ! Thank you for inspiring women to take on more jobs that are traditionally done by men. This just shows WE can do this! lol
Thank you so much. I could honestly do a full video on all the comments I get from men saying ‘ I think it’s time your husband took your tools away ‘ or ‘ this is the worst DIY video I’ve ever seen’ it’s astonishing 😂 but I thank all the little men for the engagement 🙏😜
I truly look forward to your informative videos! Having never picked up a power tool aside from an electric screwdriver you give me confidence! More confidence than my boyfriend has in me when i tell him i want to build about 3 sets of these 😂❤️
Hello from Texas! I'm currently planning a whole-house remodel. I've often thought I would like to install a line of closets in my bedroom. I don't know how YT knew to recommend your video, but I'm glad it did. These are gorgeous! I think I will try installing something similar! Thank you for the video!
Really useful video, thanks for showing all the different tools and materials you used! It was nice to find a video of a realistic diy project (not using a giant table saw in a huge workshed). With a very professional and classy result
So impressed with what you have done here! True you are not a carpenter or joiner! And I'm sure there is an abundance of do's and don'ts but above all you did it and in your own way with learning curves along the way! But well done you! If I were to say anything it would be keep on doing what you are doing but treat yourself to a couple of plastic saw horses with a big piece of osb to sit your drop saw on! 👍💪
Lovely, lovely job!!!! Was thinking about doing something like this for a future job in a home that doesn't have closets & just didn't quite know how to hack. Beautiful & thank you ever so much for your generous links & share of the plans, etc. 😇
Brilliant work! As I don’t have the skills or the perseverance that you possess I probably would have matched the doors to the white on the first cupboard and applied a white oak veneer to their backs.
Hello Kirsty! I have just discovered you, & I am so glad! Your closets are absolutely stunning! What a magnificent job you did! Thanks for sharing it! 🤗🤗😉😉😘
These look great! This was a really clear and nicely done video, I was looking for fitted wardrobes but having watched this, think I'll do this as well. Thanks!
This video is truly amazing 😍 I love, love, love this video, and the colour you chose for the wardrobes. You are incredibly talented. Few people have the patience you have, and I bet many would love to have the stamina you have. You are transforming your home into a dream home. Seriously I'm asking myself if you sometimes do this as a paid job for others. When my house is finally ready to be decirated I'd definitely be interested in you coming over and doing similar stuff in my home 👍🏻🤗
Hello Kristy, I just discovered your channel. OMGoodness your bedroom closets are stunning ❤ I am just starting my home remodelling project. I was looking for ideas and so very glad I found you. I’m just starting my planning for our spare bedroom, I figured I could make my learning curve mistakes there before I do our master bedroom. lol. I’m in Canada and obviously have to source out products. Thank you showing the sides of your mouldings to give us an idea of what to look for. I’m off now to look through your other videos. 😊 ❤😊
@@kirstygriffiths749 I definitely will. I have 6 months to plan as it is just the start of winter here. I have a small poorly set up workspace in the garage. However with no heating out there I will not be starting until spring. I will definitely send you pictures once I’m done. 😉
Hi there! I absolutely love this and would love to follow this tutorial! Just a few quick questions, what thickness of mdf did you use? Also, how did you measure the width needed for the side pieces of mdf which connect to the wall and wardrobe (like did you deduct a couple mm to allow the door to open?)?
@@kirstygriffiths749 never tried it. I unfortunately spent thousands £££ on 3 fitted wardrobes in 3 bedrooms. Wish I have the courage to build something myself then. But now I’m working on building my own floating desk in the attic and maybe now will start doing more stuff myself around the house. Never tried spray yet myself just wondered how good your overall finish was

Hi Kirsty, you are really inspiring! Brilliant job! Just wanted to ask, where did you get the wooden little thing that you cut the trims with the saw? Thanks
Oh wow that's brilliant. I followed your video for the stairs panelling and it came out gorgeous 😍 Can I ask why do you leave a gap between the wardrobes and then fill it with wood, is it due to the doors?
I am so impressed by the result! Stunning job! Thank you so much for uploading. May I ask you how much this total project cost you? I am in the process of buying a house that has a few very large but ugly cupboards with sliding doors right in the middle of the living-room. I am torn between keeping them because you can always use the storage capacity, and getting rid of them because they are so hideous. Your video hints at a middle ground: replacing them by customized, fitted Pax cupboards :)
Great walkthrough thanks! Out of interest what was the total cost of the project? Also, are there any views of the interior? Did you design the custom interior too?
As an IKEA ex employee who designed hundreds of Pax wordrobe designs for clients, this makes me happy to watch
Thanks so much 🙏 IKEA Pax is just the best.
Not my video! But i felt some kind of SPECIAL in you saying that!
Could you help me with an office ?

Wow well done that's brilliant... very nice informative video you have inspired me to give this a go .. 😊

What a sense of achievement you must have seeing your hardwork.
Wow, I need to book you ,they look amazing 😊
😂 thank you
Just gorgeous! Bravo to you 🥰
Thank you so much !
I love this so much, I have a wall of 377cm but want this exact style how would you do it?
Brilliantly done!!!!
Thank you 🙏
AMAZING, fantastic job
Beautiful, well done!
Thank you 🙏
Queen of the Pax!!!
😂 I should get that on a t-shirt
Nicely done!
Please can you tell me the base height & the skirting height too. Sorry if I’ve missed it.
Hi Kirsty, you are really inspiring! Brilliant job!
Just wanted to ask, where did you get the wooden little thing that you cut the trims with the saw? Thanks
fantastic job !!!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you for your sharing this video, it is really helpful❤
Es mejor este primer o Zisser? Gracias ❤
So impressive. Thank you for the video. I wish I could do this but I know it would be a disaster.
Brilliant job
Thank you 🙏
Nice job ! Well done !
Spectacular job!👍🏼❤️
Thank you 😍
This looks fantastic. I am curious about one thing. Why did you use the oak panels for the PAX wardrobe as opposed to a white finish?
We wanted the oak interior with matching interior colour on the door. I much prefer it to my white wardrobe.
holy Dooley you are amazing...dont know If I could manage what you did!
Thanks ! Absolutely you could 👍
wow you are so talented!!!!
Thank you ❤️
Oh wow that's brilliant.
I followed your video for the stairs panelling and it came out gorgeous 😍
Can I ask why do you leave a gap between the wardrobes and then fill it with wood, is it due to the doors?
No, it’s so it looks fitted. If I just put the pax right up against each other it would just look like a standard pax wardobe.
What a great job! I’m going to copy it 😊
Thanks ! Hope it’s helpful 👍

It was around £1100 all in. The drawers increased the price. With just tails it would be cheaper.

It was about £300 on top of the cost of the IKEA bits. That’s MDF, trim & handles. I have a full inside video on my channel.
Thank you ever so much.❤❤❤ Beautiful 😍
