I didn't expect this video to make me tear up. I've been a subcriber for a couple of years now and it's incredible what Emily has done for Rex's quality of life. I'm so happy for her, all the work and setbacks to get the zoo built were worth it.
I was worried Rex's enclosure would be too small because it would be tiny for a full-grown alligator, but I don't think I realized just how small Rex is! That enclosure seems nice and big for her.
I would agree that yes that enclosure would be incredibly small for like an eight or nine foot alligator, Rex is 4 or 5 ft long if I remember correctly, so that would probably be about a good size for her
Can’t believe it’s been two years already since she’s moved in to the zoo! I love rewatching this video it makes me feel so happy I’d love to visit her someday
Proof that the camouflage on the door is doing its job. When Emily was feed Rex the kid in the dome said "Oh Wow! I didn't know there was a [door]!" at about 9:50
That enclosure actually makes Rex look smaller, that is crazy. Also, the views from the tunnel and through the glass underwater is absolutely beautiful. She is such an amazing and graceful creature underwater. I love Rex and I hope that I get to see her in person one day.
@@Revan5556 'play' is essentially engaging in instincts. Humans like throwing balls because we are hardwired to do that, same with solving puzzles. Cats like playing with toys on string because it simulates hunting, and I guess alligators like deathspinning things because it is instinct to do so!
Would be much fun to be in that pool TOGETHERE with Rexie, wonder how he would behave. He doesn't play when they're watching cuz he's just observant for them or thinking maybe he'll get fed. What a beautiful, smiling, timeless animal.. And his skin looks like it's made of rocks or so, i'd just love to pet or cuddle an animal like that, looks rly domesticated, alltho i understand it's not made to be a pet. Unless you're rich and make the perfect room for him with everything & secure etc..
This was the pinnacle of the zoo build for me and I am so glad that the timing worked out where I was there to see Rex introduced to her new enclosure. The bellowing I did not expect, but what an excellent way to finish the video as Rex settles into her new home - Paul :-)
Okay, I've been watching for years and I gotta tell you guys. I started crying happy tears seeing Rex playing with that ball. It is so amazing to see the dreams come true. Thank you so much for taking us with you on this journey!!
That was so special to watch! When I was 14 I had a neighbor that had a “pet” alligator or maybe it was a crocodile? Either way it lived its life in a bin much like Rex’s transportation case. It was really sad. I told my parents about it and I’m not sure if it was them or if it was someone else but the authorities were called and they legally had to find it a new home for it. I’m not sure what happened, hopefully it went somewhere to live a much happier life. I get so confused that animal lovers can be so cruel to them just so they can call them a pet. I wish that humans could have enough self awareness to realize whether they are making a positive or negative impact on the lives around them.
I started following this channel when they had a video of gold fish being an invasive species in rivers and lakes which was a looooong time ago. I have been so proud of what you guys accomplished and the things you guys do not only for the animals but for the environment as well. Congrats to Emily, Ed, all the staff and crew and especially all the animals that now have a wonderful future because of everyone involved. Once I can come to the US I will definitely make this a must stop
I remember first seeing Rex just getting her teeth brushed and just coming in or whatever, I cannot believe I stayed in this journey for so long, it’s such an adventure and I love your videos so much I remember Ed never wanting to show his face, and now he doesn’t care. It shows so much improvement and it’s honestly nostalgic I love you guys so much and my dream is to visit your zoo, keep it up!

Emily, this is outstanding; honestly, she really loves you. See, Rex was attempting to bite the fingers of the other employee seeing her as a plaything or food, but with you, she just turns around to see you and listen to you talk. You are her rescuer, rehabilitator, carer, and teacher, but most of all, you are her best friend... her mother. She respects you as dinosaurs do: as a rival, a hand that feeds and a hand that helps. I don't know as much about alligators, but I know about Crocs (which are more ferocious), and the way a croc shows its love is to fight with you (to spar with you and fight over food) and protect you from others attempting to fight with you (defends you from ACTUAL threats). Ed and Emily, you have built a sanctuary by hand from bare bones. Well done to you both and to your family, friends, fans, volunteers, and employees for seeing this through!
Im crying tears of joy to see her in her new environment. You have no idea how much your channel has helped my special needs daughter and myself. Thank you for all the good you do! Someday I'll be able to come see you all...
Just a tip; please clean the inside of the glass dome in rex's enclosure 2-3 times a day when the zoo is open. My kiddo loves to go into those domes but damn how much filth it is on the inside of them! So much hand sanitizer I have used on domes like that before my kiddo is allowed to enter them. Kids have that weird habit of kissing or lick the glass... I don't understand it but I make sure to clean before and after my kiddo just to be cautious!

I love how delighted Rex is with her new enclosure and pool, it must feel great to be able to actually be able to submerge completely and swim around. She looks so happy and sleepy at the end of a long day of playing.
I didn't expect this video to make me tear up. I've been a subcriber for a couple of years now and it's incredible what Emily has done for Rex's quality of life. I'm so happy for her, all the work and setbacks to get the zoo built were worth it.
Rex makes me not scared of alligators, and it’s true! I’m happy you took Rex and decided you would take care of her. I love your vids!❤️
I was worried Rex's enclosure would be too small because it would be tiny for a full-grown alligator, but I don't think I realized just how small Rex is! That enclosure seems nice and big for her.
I would agree that yes that enclosure would be incredibly small for like an eight or nine foot alligator, Rex is 4 or 5 ft long if I remember correctly, so that would probably be about a good size for her
Rex's Growth was stunted because of misstreatement at her last home so she's pretty small I would guess only like 3 feet.
@@RaeDole I would have to go back and check but I'm pretty sure in one of the videos on Rex Emily said she's 4 ft long
but can Rex still grow tho?
@@arnoldszwarzenegger6832 Sadly not, she is actually quite an old girl now - she is actually older than Ed and Emily.
Did anyone else get a little emotional seeing Rex in her enclosure. I was getting teary-eyed watching her play. 🥺
Yes! Just remembering her story while watching is... 🥺 Tearful

Can’t believe it’s been two years already since she’s moved in to the zoo! I love rewatching this video it makes me feel so happy I’d love to visit her someday
I know! So many milestones with her. I love seeing her in an enclosure specially made for her. Big enough for her. And having fun ^_^
Proof that the camouflage on the door is doing its job. When Emily was feed Rex the kid in the dome said "Oh Wow! I didn't know there was a [door]!" at about 9:50
I'm gonna write a song called "Alligator Glass Blues" that tells the tale of the struggle to obtain Rex's Glass.
That would be cool! Maybe you could link it in the replies once your done?
Yaaassssss!

Hello, progress?
That enclosure actually makes Rex look smaller, that is crazy. Also, the views from the tunnel and through the glass underwater is absolutely beautiful. She is such an amazing and graceful creature underwater. I love Rex and I hope that I get to see her in person one day.
For a moment, I thought you said, "in prison". Yep, my mind is a mess
@@bswan7914 haha, I see it 😂
She's so cute, what a big baby!! So good to see her in such a pretty enclosure now, lots of space and it's clean!
"She's not listening to me!"
"She's an alligator, I don't expect it to"
OMG 😂😂😂
Aww this was so cute! I’ve never seen an alligator play ☺️ Awesome enclosure!
Well now you saw an alligator play! Rex is properly the only alligator I'm brave enough to pet
Funny how alligators version of playing is ‘play killing things’ as long as it gives them enrichment I’m happy to watch it
@@Revan5556 'play' is essentially engaging in instincts. Humans like throwing balls because we are hardwired to do that, same with solving puzzles. Cats like playing with toys on string because it simulates hunting, and I guess alligators like deathspinning things because it is instinct to do so!
It’s so cute seeing Rex trying to eat strangers and then is like “mom is not food”
CUTE REX
Lol
Rexy
Would be much fun to be in that pool TOGETHERE with Rexie, wonder how he would behave. He doesn't play when they're watching cuz he's just observant for them or thinking maybe he'll get fed. What a beautiful, smiling, timeless animal.. And his skin looks like it's made of rocks or so, i'd just love to pet or cuddle an animal like that, looks rly domesticated, alltho i understand it's not made to be a pet. Unless you're rich and make the perfect room for him with everything & secure etc..

I love that nerdy look of hers
This was the pinnacle of the zoo build for me and I am so glad that the timing worked out where I was there to see Rex introduced to her new enclosure. The bellowing I did not expect, but what an excellent way to finish the video as Rex settles into her new home - Paul :-)
Thank you so much Paul for helping build and bring to life the Snake Discovery zoo and for everything you do for Custom Reptile Habitats. 😁😊

Okay, I've been watching for years and I gotta tell you guys. I started crying happy tears seeing Rex playing with that ball. It is so amazing to see the dreams come true. Thank you so much for taking us with you on this journey!!
Little kid: "The fish is acting like it's death :D"
Emily:"ohhh, it might not be acting... :v"
That part killed me 😂

That was my first video too!!
I remember first seeing Rex just getting her teeth brushed and just coming in or whatever, I cannot believe I stayed in this journey for so long, it’s such an adventure and I love your videos so much
I remember Ed never wanting to show his face, and now he doesn’t care. It shows so much improvement and it’s honestly nostalgic
I love you guys so much and my dream is to visit your zoo, keep it up!

Watching Rex death role her Joly ball made me teary eyed. She has been through so much. From her little 4 foot box, to this massive enclosure with a huge pool. Y’all have done amazing things for this animals and lots of other reptiles/chyanne. God bless you both 💙💙

It's so beautiful seeing Rex in her new home! It looks smaller than what is actually seems to be in video, so I was a bit surprised. She can swim around a lot more and the visitors might double as enrichment for her. It was also really cute seeing everyone (but especially you 2) gush over her :<
And now you got a whole new room freed up? (clearly for more racks in the future, like, what else is free space meant for right?)
Really? I thought it was much bigger. From what I saw in the videos I doubted Rex could even fit, but now seeing her inside it I can see that she has plenty of space
Can we appreciate Emily the time it takes to make us happy and laugh
Rex actually looks like she’s smiling watching the whole journey and looking at her toothy smile is so adorable I couldn’t stop smiling the whole video congrats guys
I think it's her facial structure when she opens her mouth that looks like a smile

Emily is absolutely amazing in so many ways I personally have always wanted to work around alligators snakes and other reptiles it has just always seemed so exciting to me I still have a lot to learn myself but emily is the cutest a truly wonderful woman

I'm glad there are responsible Small Human owners out there like you,
