FLATLINE // LYRICS
Your eyes judge like a jury locked in a trial
No respect for the odd and innocent
Guilty
Now shut the doors and then open fire
Some fail to make the connection and lose beauty in a mound of rejection
Can’t we understand that no life is out of our hands?
Suffocation and the fear of living is setting in, so let go before he lets go
Patience is wearing thin and leaving him so let go, before he lets go of this life
I wonder what goes on before he lets go
He says:
Send an angel to pull me from the hell below
This weight is far too much to own and this body doesn’t feel like home
Send an angel
I feel I’m dying all alone
So lift me up or let me go
because this body doesn’t feel like home
This body doesn’t feel like home
Love feels far away
The lack of motivation keeps his soul from bettering his own life
Now he’s next level with a bottle and a blade
retreating in his own way
Suffocation and the fear of living is setting in
so let go before he lets go
Patience is wearing thin and leaving him so let go
before he lets go of this life
I wonder what goes on behind those bloodshot eyes
I wonder what goes on before he lets go
He says:
Send an angel to pull me from the hell below
This weight is far too much to own and this body doesn’t feel like home
Send an angel
I feel I’m dying all alone
So lift me up or let me go, because this body doesn’t feel like home
Sleep now and carry on into the black of the night
Sleep now and you’ll be on your way
There’s another one moving on from the flatline
Sleep now and carry on into the black of the night
Sleep now and you’ll be on your way
There’s another one moving on from the flatline
Slip into the fray
Slip between the night and day
Sleep now and carry on into the black of the night
At peace with everything, but it doesn’t make it right
There’s another one moving on from the flatline
Sleep now and carry on into the black of the night
At peace with everything, but it doesn’t make it right
There’s another one moving on from the flatline

Thanks for the kind words! Can't wait for you guys to hear the rest of P3.
Hey Mrak. (:
Bro please tell me your untitled song in your jamup video will be on P3!
Mrak!!!!!!!!!! we love you
Really loving this! Good work and a nice cheer-up from all the EU referendum bollocks. Thanks!! :-D
fuck yes! we can't wait for P3!!!
Thanks so much guys, this is a song we are all really proud of, and I can't wait for you guys to hear the rest of the album!
Thank you, for writing this masterpiece Misha-senpai.
You guys are awesome. This tour coming up will be incredible, I know.
dick butt
Awesome song
Why does Misha only have 12 likes. C'mon you chumps. ALL THE WAY UP (wait -- wrong genre)
Spencer's vocals man...he's like a fine wine just gets better with age.
Holy shit another fan that likes Spences voice?! Yas
+1
+khfan49 Spencer is amazing! He'll always be my favorite vocalist!
+Fernando Macias It surprises me because I feel like we are in the minority because I can't go to a periphery video without reading about people complaining about Spences voice or wanting periphery to be instrumental. I love his voice and periphery is one of the very few progmetal/djent bands I really like.
Been seein you on ATB videos and now here, you've got a good taste in music man lol
Beautiful!
Extremely beautiful. I LOVE spense's clean parts around the 4 mark and on to death.
you like periphery??
Aw thanks Ola, Miss ya pal!!
+Misha Mansoor you guys have to come to Bulgaria we need some good music
Cant wait to see you guys on Aug 5!
This is the best song about the UK's economy I've heard in years.
Hahaha...I needed that, thanks pal.
let me feed you mustard Misha
I do hope us remain people are wrong now xD
We're pretty much fucked mate
Haha, good one.
Not even fucking kidding. This might be my favorite periphery song ever. HOLYSHIT.
Completely agree.
I'm all for you being entitled to your opinion but what the actual fuck
Exactly. what happened to Icarus Lives, Jetpacks was Yes, Racecar, Eureka, and everything off of P2?
Umbrawolf9 no like i love all that stuff, yeah, but idk there's just something about this track that speaks to me. I love all of Periphery's stuff, this one is just slightly more
I'm with you on this. it's the chorus lines :D
Living with a major depressive disorder, when I read the lyrics I thought "wow, this is about me." And today this song was the angel that lifted me up. Thank you so much for the amazing tunes, Periphery, and keep it up. Your music means so much to all us fans.
Iliketacos091 you're not alone, I feel the same way.
@Jay-john Derbyshire neuropathy grinds my gears. Clogs my cogs.
I just looked up Periphery to see if there was any new songs up and see "1 hour ago"
That was convenient.
RIGHT PLACE RIGHT TIME.
That happened to me as well. hahaha
this was me right before gojiras new album
+Donovyn Harkleroad same bruh
Same! LOL
You guys be like -
"This belonged on Juggernaut."
"Spencer sucks. Even though every note he hits is flawless, he sucks because its not for me."
"Bring back Periphery 1!!"
"Bring back Periphery 2!!11"
"This is Bulb, not Periphery. Not the same... even though Misha writes for both bands."
"You guys suck now."
"WHERE THE FUCK IS NOLLY?! DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE NOLLY IS? SOMEBODY FIND NOLLY."
Seriously, you all need to calm the fuck down for fucks sake. I loved Periphery 2 will always be my favorite album of all time, but what the hell happened to appreciating a bands new album for what it is without any preconceptions? I'll always appreciate what Mark, Misha, and Jake bring to the table. So, frak the haters, frak the gods, I'm taking my mustard bottle, buying the new album and still remaining a fan. I enjoy it for what it is.
Hater.
Did you actually read my posting?
Well said, bro. P2 is one of my all time faves, too
+Adrián Zangla consider them clammed.
+Jon Ramen you took the wrong message bro
if you wanna be a thug
you gotta crank up the chug
old school metalheads could never understand "where are all the solos, this can't be a real band"
Good for you
I hope you know it's from a video, but whatever
oh, caboose. u so silly bb
+deFyne it's a reference to a jared dines song/video
jared dines creates satire content centred around rock/metal
+VideoGamesPlaya it may not be slayer just don't be a naysayer!:D
I love Spencer's vocals at the end when he really sings his lungs out the last verses. The way this song was written about suicide just makes it even better and hard-hitter in the feels.
Adam Artz bullying and suicide
Vocal hooks in this are so addictive
Sam Jardine agree
What do you mean
@@buckeyeburl0162 if you don’t know by now here’s a little tidbit
A hook is something that “hooks” you in like a catchy melody so you mix that with vocal and you’ve got catchy vocal melody
@@lethalslaughterband5498 Thanks ahah
@@buckeyeburl0162 your welcome
Periphery! Love that shit!
love your channel man
Yo !!!
YOOOOOO
There is so much happening here. I love it.
I search every heavy metal music related video on TH-cam to see your comments Hank XD. It is awesome though, cannot wait for P3 now!
+Connor Oplinger he was even featured on Drift0r's channel too... Like WTF I see him everywhere haha
lolol
What up Hank?!
How does this hold up to Bobby's music
That part from 3:20 on till the end might be one of the best pieces of songwriting I've ever heard. It's simple and yet incredibly effective in conveying so much emotion. And holy shit. Those vocals are sick. In my opinion, those last four lines are the most intense vocal performance by Spencer to this day. Can't wait for P4. You guys are awesome.
I agree I always come back for this part. It’s perfect.
Why is no one calling this album "Peripherthree?"
This >
Periphertionist
The next one could've been Periphour
Memento Mori perifoury
@@codymayer789 persona 3?
3:20 and on really hits the heart strings. Awesome melody. The outro banging on the Ab is absolutely killer. Props.
On my third listen in a row, and It suddenly hit me..this song is incredible!
ok, I'm on my sixth (sikth?) listen now!Imma go to bed after this one!
funnily enough I get a kind of Sikth vibe from this in spots.
oh yeah, absolutely! If you can find Marigold online, I definitely get a Sikth vibe one that one as well!
Spencer's vocals in particular are starting to sound more and like Sikth's. I've been Jamming the Opacities EP incessantly ever since it dropped last year and the similarities in the new periphery leapt out at me right away.
I agree, (im gonna sound like a hipster here) I've been into Sikth since 'Let the Transmitting begin' was released (I had to pay for the damn thing via a postal order!) and I've been waiting for a band as original as them ever since. Periphery is literally Meshuggah mixed with Sikth and the genre theyve created is just wonderful! And so influential to so many people! I would go as far to say that theyre more influential than sikth (although you might argue that Sikth are influential by proxy).
At first I didn't like the maturation of Spencer's voice but now I think it's so professional and kickass. In P1 it's so young and fresh and just so awesome for a debut. Now I see that his voice has matured with the band as they have moved towards more professional and serious music. Periphery are some of the best song writers that have ever lived.
I think your comment still holds up today my guy!
Love that change about 2/3 of the way through. I love it ALL, but that is particularly brilliant.
Couldn't agree more. The entire feeling of the song changes at the 3:30 mark, and its such a great change. This song is fantastic.
Listen to Luck as a Constant
Being a new cancer patient this song touches on such a different level,Its amazing.thank you Periphery
hope you're doing well nowadays
Spencer's lows are fo real!!!
Best part of the song, I wish he did it more than just the two times at the beginning
@@ianwaldrop4738 agreed, i knew spencer had some vocal range, but goddamn those are some straight up death growls
I don't know why, but I never take to new Periphery stuff on first or even second listen! I always end up thinking "Yeah, this is pretty decent but I expected more considering their past stuff"... And then after a while I start to realize how great the songs actually are. After maybe the 5-6th listen to this, I broke into tears at the climax! This album kicks ass. ToT
Cos you're slow. People with a brain take to new Periphery instantly.
spencer's screams are great, but the way he writes clean melodies is just incredible
The chord transition evrytime he says "Let go" that section before the pre-chorus gets me everytime.
This album will be album of the year
I agree
2 different peripherys are having a conversation, this is weird
Im hella hyped for this album i think it may have slight competition with letlives 'If Im the Devil...' although two different styles altogether, in terms of albums as a whole this has alot of potential to beat it in my view
This aint even gonna get close to Fallujah's Dreamless, and Periphery is my favorite band haha
Will ! I love Fallujah and I lovef Dreamless but that album can't compare to anything from Periphery in my opinion
I get so much chills at the end when Spencer screams the final FLATLINEs... beautiful climax. The song is so well written, epic riffs, emotion and intensity.
Why have I never listened to periphery seriously before they're so fucking good
+AlphaBetaFoxface yeah I downloaded both omega and one other one and I like them a lot so now I'm pretty hyped for this album lmao
Periphery was my favorite before listening to this album...
2*
@@sadmire Pirate.
This song's lyrics seriously remind me so much of the theme for Juggernaut: Omega. I mean he even says "...pull me from the hell below" I fucking love it
hey, I
yes haha
I was thinking the same. I feel that way about a few songs on P3. Almost makes me wonder if they used some ideas left over from Omega
Just came back to listen to this absolute gem. I had this on repeat in college a few years ago after my dad got into a near-fatal accident with traumatic brain injuries. This song got me through it all. Thank you Periphery.
Spencers voice is getting better and better. love that shit.
So much better than that other single they released.
Agree

Props for the Mechina profile pic!
ayyyy another fan of mechina !
Best band of all time!

Yes
I lost a long time friend 2 days ago...I loved this track before but now it really resonates.
Thanks Spencer for sharing the message and thanks Periphery for writing genuine music.
Pain.Can't get enough.
Favourite band. Period. Always have been, always will be. This album is a fucking masterpiece! Wow.
ASTONISHING PERIPHERY
love y'all frm JPN
NOTICE ME PERIPHERY-SAN
Damn this is groovy as hell, but someone will say it sucks as usual.........i'll wait
there you go, check my comment
"It sucks" - someone, 2016
Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one
Everyone is one.
it sucks (opposite day for me lol)
People should realize that bands don't do music to cater to the needs of the listener. They do music that expresses their band's "narrative".
sanesanchezs Underrated comment
I value your comment but if you ask me, every band is different. It all comes down to ego, I’d say. I believe this band does indeed cater to the listener because Periphery’s songs can take you on deep emotional journeys. Look at Steve Vai, for instance. He’s a phenomenal guitarist but that guy makes music for no one but himself
2:46 THAT NOTE!!
I posted the lyrics from the last section 2 nights ago. Yesterday morning I found that a friend of mine had passed from a battle with Cancer.
Sleep now John. This is how i'll always remember you.
This feels like the Luck as a Constant of this album.
Especially the second half
I personally don't think any song can give off the energy that LaaC did.
+XOTLI FPV truly one of their best songs
The first time I heard the second half of that song, my dick grew 3 inches bigger. The ladies love it!
This feels like the Flatline of this album.
Hey! Spencer, you are the best metal vocalist ever, period.
No, James Hetfield is the greatest vocalist ever
@@tfwnoyandere James was great in his day for sure, especially. '86-'91. Spencer has a lot more range than james though, and sings waaaay different so its hard to compare the two
@@tfwnoyandere no Lars is
I was wrong, Nakamoto Suzuka is the greatest vocalist of all time
@@Sentienthermostat pretty sure the dude was dead ironic, comparing spencer to hetfield is like comparing pavarotti to... someone who really can't sing
Recently started digging into Periphery and I have to say, this one here is a masterpiece. From the way it captures the topic of suicide and bullying with all its nuanced emotions - anger, hopelessness, grief, confusion; the sheer musical prowess displayed throughout the complex composition, but not taken to the extreme math djent nerd bs, keeping a purpose for every riff, lick, rhythm change; and the ABSURDLY catchy melodies sticking to you brain like honey, Spencer you the devil.
I am honestly blown away and realizing what I've been missing.
For the people reading this, if you like this stuff, check out The Contortionist's last couple of albums - I feel you'll love 'em for the same reasons.
I'm a newer Periphery fan. I've game them a listen here and there since P.III but didn't understand nor was able to grasp the technicality and genius of their music. Then P. IV came out and I was blown away. But it's weird, their music is so complex that it takes me analyzing the songs to start appreciating them. All hail Periphery! One of the most original and forward thinking bands.
This song totally floored me live in Melbourne Feb 2017. To be honest I wasn’t all that sold on P3 at that point, I think this song more than any other got me sold and kept me sold.. who knows when I’ll ever see P live again, but they’re a rare band in the sense they are even better live than recorded, I still think about that show 4.5 years ago all the time
I enjoyed that song.
I too enjoyed that song.
i know right?
enjoyed aswell
I enjoyed that comment.
That enjoyed my song.
I'm always amazed with the vocal melodies that Spencer comes up with to put over this complex riffs. Been listening to this on repeat for days now
Damn man, that outro hits you right in the feels
There's #AnothaONE moving on from the flatline. A song about DJ Khaled having a fatal heart attack.
ok
He went on a vegan diet now, so I it's atleast being prevented and prehaps reversed.
Jason LovesABR I have honestly no idea. Saw a snap titled "who let the vegan loose?" from his snap a while back. But since the 22day challange is to start a habit of eating vegan, since it apperantly takes 22 days to form a habit, I'd guess his still on it.
I mean. No.
+Allahu Snackbar Vegan FTW.
That riff at 3:22 gives me life 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Maaan, these guitar parts. Stunning.
the amount of emotion in this is amazing
Holy crap. This was incredible. Can't wait for the rest of the album!
This band has inspired me and bettered my life in so many different ways. I'm grateful that the universe brought you guys all together to give it back this beautiful music. I hope you guys know, and fully own the fact that you're all gifted and your relentless passion is directly reflected in your work. I just.. love that shit. Periphery. 10/10. Would recommend to a friend.
Every album by this band changed my life for the better. Long Live Periphery.
I've had this song on repeat for the past week, I can't get enough of it. Love this album.
this song makes me want to axe people some questions... like, how much do you like this song? I fucking love it enough to show everyone how awesome this band is!
Send an angel to pull me from the "hell below". Not sure if that is a Juggernaut reference, but that was awesome.
Still listening 2 years later. Love all of Periphery's music
those ending vocals give me goosebumps. love it!
Those hooks at the end. Dayum.
Im black but I'm finding myself liking this genre. I grew up in Boon heights projects In Chattanooga tn
That's the great thing about music, how it brings people together, no matter certain differences
I just 'discovered' this group a short time ago, and, having bought and listened to their entire catalog, haven't been this excited about a group since forever, and now a new album is coming out. I feel wickedly blessed!
goodness this band never disapoints... Spencer vocals are amazing... his vocal parts keeps getting better each album
This morning my friend Ray died from liver failure from drinking so much. 38 yes old. Marine vet. What hurt so bad? He was always smiling. We need to talk to each other. We must. We threw down at the bar for you dude tonight. I'm drinking lots of water 💜.
this album is growing on me. periphery 2 will always be my all time favorite album of the past decade. but this one has some zingers too.
I cant help but to shed a couple of tears for part 2 of the song...you all in such a short time have become one of my favorite bands of all time and that's at the age of 30.
I've had this song on repeat for days now. What an absolute masterpiece 💚
Riff at 2:31 is so damn fucking original and tasty,
Mrak is a fucking god,
You wheren't bad either Jake :^)
How does everyone seem to instantly know who wrote what riffs
+Mark Roundtree lol they probably dont
Studio Updates, Facebook videos, and I would still recognise that to be mark even if I didn't know beforehand. Also I saw Jake tracking the first riff so he probably wrote it since the one who writes a riff has to track it aswell.
Reminds me almost exactly of a song in Juggernaut but I can't pick it out
+Physis Zero O okay well you know them more than most people do so yeah thats fine
Dude even after 2 comments i cant stress enough how much i love this song!!!
Best song on the album
so above and beyond everything else out there
This is my favorite from this album. Such a good song.
Such a sad plot for this song, the lyrics are really haunting.
I don't think I've ever heard Spencer growl that low before
YOUUUURRRR EYEEEES
Oh hohoho, this growl dude
Seen these guys live at the house of Blues a year ago and at the end of this song was so intense that the floorboards were bending up and down like a wave. Most incredible experience at a concert I've had. This song is amazing
The ending just makes me weep with joy and crumble with heartache. MMMMM THEM SPENCER CLEAN HIGHS! 😍😍
yo, literally good job everyone. Misha, Jake, Mark, Hellporn, Sp0nce and Nolly.
i'm getting too excited 😆
*Mrak
How is this band outdoing itself album after album,Just incredible.
Favorite Periphery Song
everything about this song is amazing... been with you guys since the beginning and you never fail to impress in every way. Thanks guys!
Anything this band creates sound so good, stoked to hear the full album seems like it is gonna be amazing. Thanks for making such beautiful music.
2:07 Retreating into Subwaaay
I nearly spat out my drink lmao
That end is fuckin glorious
Dudes voice is crisp. Hits the spot for me every time. Especially that ending. Hella good
this is definitely one of my favorite songs on the album! I'm obsessed with it at the moment. Like honestly, this is one of those songs that gives you chills when you listen to it, especially because there is so much emotion in the song
My Periphery fav song :) I love the ending 4:01
Same.
Song never gets old. I love it so much. Easily my favorite song from them. It actually beat out "Make Total Destroy"
I wish they had more fans. A lot of people do what I did and judge it at first because it’s different but you give it a few tries and realize how beautiful it truly is.
I'm still amazed at the composition of the songs themselves. This one has a more standard structure, but the rest of the songs man, incredible. I don't see how you guys do it.
So powerful.... passion, and energy. fking makes this band killer....!
2:47 Is it me? or is the height that Spencer's voice reaches here absolutely chillingly insane? Say what you want about the guy, but he just opened up a rift in space-time. My ears are bleeding super saiyan blood. Thanks SPONCE
glad to see matt spiced this up
Good god can't get over that beautiful outro!!
alaways absolutely incredible
Holy shit guys love the intro, all of it, sounds THICC as fuck. The vocals are butter and the instrumental is bread.
In fact, vocals 0:21 : BUUUUUUUUTTEEEEEEEEER
So quite literally.
to quote the Misha: "It may sound cold or heartless, but we don't write for the fans. We don't write a part and go 'Oh, the fans are gonna love this,' we feel that is disingenuous and we made it this far and got this many fans by writing for ourselves..."
I've always been such a HUGE fan of you guys since the beginning! I've grown with you and experienced changes in my life much as the music has. I love everything you've released to date. I attended the show you played 2 February's ago at the Opera House in Toronto, the performance was flawless and I couldn't help but tear up in joy after it was over. My life is about to take another unfortunate turn but I know your music will always be there. I'm a beyond excited for this new album to release. It cannot come soon enough. Thank you so much for your hard work and perseverance. I know I'm not the only one when I say, "Don't stop making music.. Ever." Much Love!
Stirs up so much emotion in me.
ATP WAS HERE FIRST!
Ditto
ATP checking in!
Damn Right.
ATP?
First rule of ATP, we don't talk about ATP.
You know, I moved from Marigold, to The Way the News Goes..., to Catch Fire, to Lune as my favorite off of this album. But having listened to the whole thing now probably 50+ times at least, I have to say that this one has since become my favorite, and will definitely say there. It might even start competing with the likes of Froggin' Bullfish, 22 Faces, and The Bad Thing, for the 'title' of my favorite Periphery song in general. Just so damned good!
This song brings tears to my eyes
I'm a great fan of you guys from Kenya. You guys changed my perspective on guitar playing and I'm so grateful for your existence. Thanks Periphery.
