@davidbowie, you clearly are unaware of the metaphoric figure of speech of that saying "i cant with ______". Its not meant in its literal context. It's actually more conveying that u cant deal with whatever it is you are saying "you cant with", because its so mind blowing awesome. Thats what i was getting at and meaning by using that statement. Its, for all intents and purposes, used as a way to praise. Thanks for wishing for my death as well. You are a very positive gem of a soul.
Proud to say this is my first Periphery song. I was listening to DGD, and autoplay started playing this. The beginning instrumental was what kept me from skipping because it reminded me of the AOT soundtrack
You know, a good music teacher showed me when I was young that metal and classical share very similar sorts of composition, just a difference in sound produced. If I was to try and prove that, I would definitely use this as a example to compare to finely composed music of the past. Anyone else feel that way?
ehhhh, i wouldn’t really say this is very good example, but for sure! stuff like With Strength I Burn by Emperor, An Ocean of Wisdom by Gorguts, or Stabwound by Necrophagist are all really classical!
Spencer i dont know what you have been up to or what demon you souled your soul to, but godamn your vocals have gotten so dynamic and amazing. the variety and the amount of style changes is ridiculous.
I'm SOOOOOO late discovering this absolute BANGER. My god how much pure fvckin awesome can you cram into one song? Oh wait.....thats why its 16 minutes 😂😂😂 seriously this is more addictive than crack.
Probably one of the few modern bands I actually listen to religiously... Who says a blues musician can't enjoy a little quality in a different spectrum? Keep innovating dudes!!!!!!!!
Jesus Christ guys this is next level. The timing, the production quality, the diversity in every piece of instrumentation and vocals. Song of the year in my book. Bravo
Lol I don't think Dream Theater is that good mostly because they lack cross genre diversity Periphery has. Every member of Periphery makes their prowess possible. Not many bands are composed of masters.
Portnoy and Matt both have a certain flare, hard to choose between them. Musicality definitely goes to Matt, technicality probably goes to Portnoy. No idea about the new drummer of DT though.
But what's the point? The album has been officially released. It's on TH-cam and copies have been sold at swine fest. Now the original release date is just the global album distribution date.
"The scarcity of nourishment is evident" .... what a beautiful lyric. This song, this entire album, is True Audio Artistry. Thank you for sharing it with and inspiring the rest of us.
The guitar tone on this entire album is incredible.....and damn that heavy sludgy riff with the sick guitar solo around the 11 min mark gives me goosebumps every time I hear it!
Tashiro they released the physical copies yesterday knowing they were gonna be leaked, Spencer made a joke about them leaking their own album before swan fest
I just recently started listening to Periphery. When I found this song, I knew this band was something special. Genuinely the best 17 minutes of music I have ever heard.
it’s not that hard if you’ve listened to it several times. and if you’ve been playing complicated shit (their other songs) for a few years. once you learn every part individually and split the song into sections it’ll be pretty easy, a lot of it is chugging anyway
The last minute and a half is so captivating. Those synths do a magnificent job for the closure of the song. Almost like reflecting to what I just listened to for the past 15 minutes. Well done gentlemen.
"Crush is the best song!" "Wait, 'It's Only Smiles' is the best song!" "Sorry, 'Satellites' is the best!" ..and that cycle keeps repeating. Seriously guys, well done for pulling me in like this without knowing any of your prior music.
There MUST be something in the water where you guys are from... Just thank you so much for this beauty of a song! Groovy, beautiful, moody and W O K E all in one ♥️
Well... I would say this is the only 16 minute long song I could play on repeat all day and never get sick of.. Periphery is fucking divine. 10:20 and 14:07 are mind blowing.
I could not help but notice the similarities between this song and Vergil's theme in DMC 5 that just came out called "Bury the Light" and the tone of both songs match each other a lot but what surprises me the most is that at 9:20 he says "Bury the light" and at 4:00 the melody sounds exactly the same as in Bury the Light's drop.
so, its mostly a theory, but i would be very surprised if bury the light wasn't *massively* influenced by this track. the vocalist for that song has a cover of this song on his channel, a few months before the release of bury the light. all signs point to this song having big influence on dmc.
@@atomictoaster8013 I feel like I saw this exact thing confirmed somewhere, that Casey or someone who works close with him saw that cover and decided to hit Borba up. For the life of me I cannot recall where, so I might be making shit up, but considering they literally had Nolly doing production on this track, this feels more like fact than theory to me.

There must be something in the water (Besides fluoride and shit) Where he lie
He threw that gaping brain asunder when he realized, when he realized it's coming down
We've sown thrones and brought the kings down to knees
Hello, Here we are, Salutations
And every day that you wake is a gift that you take from the gods
That's right!
You came from the trees and we altered the genes
Here you are
All you fuck with is wages
You had the day but you pissed it away
I think it's time that we show our ways
Now we shed that violence all over
Let mayhem in the streets
From the mountain top to oceans, we own your every need
It's coming down
With every breath that we take we can hear that sound
Somebody needs a reaction to stay on the ground
With every breath that we take, we can hear that sound
A green-skin apocalypse
A do or die
So Billy heeds the call of fathers
Release high
Through these eyes
Embraces the chi and he praises the weeds
Holding out for the day he can face them
Every day that he trains is a slap in the face to the gods
God Damn
Shutting out politics
Viewing beings as equals
Ain't it funny how that makes sense?
You had the floor, but you gave it a bore

Can we clean that slate?
Now shed that violence all over
Let mayhem in the streets
From mountain top to oceans, we own your every need
It's coming down
Somebody needs a reaction to stay on the ground
It's coming down
Follow a trail of the ones who bleed the masses
Follow behind the reptilian eyes
A normal day in the green-skin apocalypse
A do or die
There must be something in the water where he lie, where he lie
He threw that gaping brain asunder
When he realized, when he realized
National alliance and he leads the fight
No class, no race, just fucking violence in their eyes
A plan for human survival takes to flight
The good that's left and all we cherish stands to die
Is this the end of all we know?
They all float
Is this the end of all we know?
Wasted our lives for what?
Float away
Do we feed the reaction?
Do we stay?
Do we all float away?
Do you think you know who you are?
Did you think you had it all worked out well?
And who could believe... those dead-eyed soldiers
Red sky rainfall
The winter beams no beauty
Just cold-eyed monsters and bare branches
You can wail to the moon, but that'll just make things worse
They see you
They see me
They see all
No children in the streets
Where do they play when freedom here has been revoked?
The ground which all their fathers soaked
No medicine
The scarcity of nourishment is evident
And where's our god?
Have we seen that side of heaven yet? No
Rich, Poor
Clutching to their sheets in horror
Is there an answer?
Is there somebody who can take away all the present dismay?
Bury the light
Pray through night
Mayhem in the streets
No order
Is there an answer?
Is there somebody who can take away all the present dismay?
Bury the light
Pray through night
You've buried that, buried that light
Now pray through night
What has come down is littered all around in your sight
It's littered in your sight
The claim they stake
A Land from us they take
The craft he shakes
A race within his wake
Victory alone became his above the soil we know
A grave is laid
A man within it's cage
Victory alone became his down in the soil he owns
Soil we know becomes our own home
Now we're staring at the round together
It is not the first time or the last time

Project 86 is the only other band I've heard that can change this much (or probably even more) between albums and never stumble in terms of quality. There must be something in the water that's infected them and Periphery both with awesome.
@David J sun eater is a damn good album and it's like the only one by them that's up my alley I feel like
I've never listened to Periphery and this is the first album I heard from them. I declare it a masterpiece, 10/10. Love it.
The vocals from 8:51 to 9:51 make every hair I have stand on end. It's fucking beautiful.
The chord progression here is insane. It makes me smile in happiness.
by far the best part of the song imo
Me: 3:38
@@upupupandaway I'm a bit late to this party but, yes, I knew I couldn't be the only one who was just taken so far aback by these chords. I have only just now started to listen to Periphery so, the first time hearing it I was like, "Oh my Go-uuuggghhh WHAAAAT. WHAT IS HAPPENING AND WHY IS IT SO AMAZING."
@@upupupandaway It's definitely a good one. Really embodies the band's significant qualities.
Right out of the gate, this one might be one of my favorite albums. Congratulations guys on making a sick new sound and doing it with your own label. I have a lot of respect for what you have done already and I'm looking forward to all that you accomplish in the future!!! 10/10
The level of detail in this song is beyond human abbilities.
12:30 that melodic refrence to Garden in the Bones is beautiful. Well done
Wasn't sure if that was just me or if that melody had the same flow.
I don’t know the lyrics to this song yet so I just sing the garden in the bones lyrics over that part 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@DeFySniping same lyrics i believe.
@@erra7552 slightly different, still works either way

Oh myyy gawwww. I can't with this band anymore. Since 2006 man. Since 2000 mother effing 6, ive discovered them and been a loyal fan ever since. Every thing they've put out has proven why and THIS, THIS just slams hard the nail in the coffin!!! I mean wicked hard. Gaw daaaamn!
So when you heard the Focus Hour callback in this song, did you cream all over your walls like I did?
David Bowie ?
David Bowie just die? Wow bro, fuck off
@davidbowie, you clearly are unaware of the metaphoric figure of speech of that saying "i cant with ______".
Chill down and fuck off, David Bowie. He literally stated a normal text, literally NO need to tell him to go die.
Proud to say this is my first Periphery song. I was listening to DGD, and autoplay started playing this. The beginning instrumental was what kept me from skipping because it reminded me of the AOT soundtrack
Great way to start a morning of work on a sunday
10:15 Gave me chills, that background tremelo was a gnarly touch
Bulb - The Focus Hour
this is literally one of the best songs i have ever heard
The most popular release on the new album that isn’t a single is also the longest. I’m proud of this community.
MOOOOMMMM they doing that djent thing again 😫🤤🤑

You know, a good music teacher showed me when I was young that metal and classical share very similar sorts of composition, just a difference in sound produced. If I was to try and prove that, I would definitely use this as a example to compare to finely composed music of the past. Anyone else feel that way?
ehhhh, i wouldn’t really say this is very good example, but for sure! stuff like With Strength I Burn by Emperor, An Ocean of Wisdom by Gorguts, or Stabwound by Necrophagist are all really classical!

I think the early stuff of the human abstract would fit better here. Specially Vela, together we await the storm

The gods must be crazy!
I had to pause it for a second to actually take it in
Yeah when I heard "there must be something in the water" for the first time I was like they're backkkkk haha
I love how you used the Garden in the Bones phrase in this song with different lyrics. Really reminiscent of omega and alpha. Amazing song!!!
6:30 the "wasting our lives" gives me chills every time, such a powerful voice there
Spencer i dont know what you have been up to or what demon you souled your soul to, but godamn your vocals have gotten so dynamic and amazing. the variety and the amount of style changes is ridiculous.
Honestly "souled" sounds so much better than "sold" beautiful pun whether it was intentional or not.
These boys souls belong with god. People always miss it. Read their lyrics better.
kbkbkbkbkbkbkbkbkbkb what are you talking about? Periphery is not a Christian band at all

If you dont know how to read between the lines of their lyrics, that's on you not me. Cheers
@@kbkbkbkbkbkbkbkbkbkb It's just lyrics off of one song. That doesn't mean they are a christian band like Demon Hunter or Becoming the Archetype.

Nothing quite like hearing new music from one of your favorite bands for the first time... And it's even better than you could've hoped for.
Cam Todd This track is so fucking unpredicktable on first listen. It’s insanely good
@@horizoniki couldnt agree more.
It got chills when the melody from Garden in the Bones started playing. I love you guys so much.
Seventeen minutes of nearly every musical emotion and dynamics. Never a dull moment.
Reptile is by far their best piece of work yet. I saw the length and chuckled to myself but I regret that chuckle now.
Probably one of the few modern bands I actually listen to religiously... Who says a blues musician can't enjoy a little quality in a different spectrum? Keep innovating dudes!!!!!!!!
i'm christian but i listened to this in 2019 after watching DITF and it stuck with me ever since. amazing song, god bless🙏
Jesus Christ guys this is next level. The timing, the production quality, the diversity in every piece of instrumentation and vocals. Song of the year in my book. Bravo
Thank you guys yet again, been listening since your Myspace 3 song instrumental sampler. I was one of the lucky ones!

Spencer's vocals are AMAZING on this (well...in general but still) and mixed really well. This 16 min magnum opus is on Dream Theater level.
Lol I don't think Dream Theater is that good mostly because they lack cross genre diversity Periphery has. Every member of Periphery makes their prowess possible.
Not many bands are composed of masters.
Dumb comment, though vocals are way better here, each members of dream theater are masters on their instruments on their own
Dream Theater ain’t got shit on these dudes
Portnoy and Matt both have a certain flare, hard to choose between them. Musicality definitely goes to Matt, technicality probably goes to Portnoy. No idea about the new drummer of DT though.
I think there was a soft section on this song the reminds me a little bit of Swallow The Sun and I absolutely love it!
I'm basically speechless.
I haven't gone on such an incredible musical journey with a track like this since BTBAM put out Colors.
Wow.
Woah woah woah so fuck the entire parallax? Is that what ur saying?
hell yea BTBAM is incredible as well.
that 2nd chorus with the vocals in the background always gives me goosebumps
Holy shit, that was one of the best guitar solos I've ever heard.
You're the reason I've checked this out. Didn't realize it was out lmao
Total face melter... the whole thing is like a “band solo” lol
It’s so tasty.

The garden in the bones part at 12:04 is just too good 😍
I understand why you use the heart-eye emoji. I feel it too.
It's a beautiful day, my sub box is full of Periphery :')
9:25 ah yes, Spencer flaunting his PHD in giving people chills.
Also his PHD in vocal modulation
I’ve listened to this song like 100 times, every morning. Ty great song
Dude this song doesnt even feel that long. It's super awesome.
Only listening to this song before the official release. If the rest of the album is this good we’re in for a huge treat 🔥
Nate C. Concerts that’s will power right there
But what's the point? The album has been officially released. It's on TH-cam and copies have been sold at swine fest. Now the original release date is just the global album distribution date.
This is the official release
I’m pretty sure it would be easier not to do drugs a second time than choose not to listen to the album when it’s dangled in front of you like this 😨
You're a strong man. The rest of the album is brilliant
"We're gonna post the P4 documentary with all the behind-the-scenes stuff soon!"
fellas i do believe you've posted the scenes themselves
The album has unfortunately been leaked so, best thing for them to "limit the impact" is to 'leak' the songs themselves
Tashiro they already sold the album yesterday at a show so I’m pretty sure they knew what they were in for
Tashiro they released the physical copies yesterday knowing they were gonna be leaked, Spencer made a joke about them leaking their own album before swan fest

The focus hour. Glad they threw that part in this song. It's always been one of my favorite Bulb tracks.

I like that “victory alone” parallel to Garden. It’s like the Alpha/Omega thing
Thats what i was thinking, gave me chills
Bodi Stern yeah
I wonder how didn't anyone notice that the "Rich, Poor" part is very similar melodically to Follow Your Ghost's "Drink, Blow" in its beginning.
9:48 - 11:51 is easily the best thing I’ve ever heard from Periphery, maybe in general. That shit absolutely kills
It sounds very Townsend, especially the harsh vocals part in the beginning. Then drifts to more of a Meshuggah tone.
I just got into Periphery and this is one of the best songs I've ever heard in my life
9:00 is so amazing, can't get it out of my head
I just recently started listening to Periphery. When I found this song, I knew this band was something special. Genuinely the best 17 minutes of music I have ever heard.
The absolutely mind boggling amount of memorization required to play these parts live.
If you composed them then you're fine
it’s not that hard if you’ve listened to it several times. and if you’ve been playing complicated shit (their other songs) for a few years. once you learn every part individually and split the song into sections it’ll be pretty easy, a lot of it is chugging anyway
This whole song is great but i could listen to 9:00 - 9:50 on repeat for ever.
The last minute and a half is so captivating. Those synths do a magnificent job for the closure of the song. Almost like reflecting to what I just listened to for the past 15 minutes. Well done gentlemen.
Humanity's victory over the reptilian overlords.

Ive been waiting for this song since Mark Holcomb said the first track is a 16 min long one.
Great release and amazing work! Congratulations!!
Perfection! My favorite band of all time and this proves why.
Same here dude!
That's how I found this song actually. They're both fantastic and I'd love more songs similar in vibe to this and bury the light.
Yes, there are references to other songs too, there are even parts that resemble the harmony of Castelvania music, in the case of Ost do Vergil
so, its mostly a theory, but i would be very surprised if bury the light wasn't *massively* influenced by this track. the vocalist for that song has a cover of this song on his channel, a few months before the release of bury the light. all signs point to this song having big influence on dmc.
@@atomictoaster8013 nolly did either the mixing or production on bury the light, cant remember which
@@atomictoaster8013 I feel like I saw this exact thing confirmed somewhere, that Casey or someone who works close with him saw that cover and decided to hit Borba up. For the life of me I cannot recall where, so I might be making shit up, but considering they literally had Nolly doing production on this track, this feels more like fact than theory to me.
Damn, that little tasty pentatonic box lick @ 1:49 in the midst of "typical" Periffing is at once badass and comical. I think this is their best work yet. Amazing song
That has to be my favorite part of the song by far
