At about 5:35pm 19march2024, SCDF was alerted to a fire at the abovementioned location.
The fire involved a Power Assisted Bicycle (PAB) that was parked near a market stall on the ground floor. The fire was extinguished by firefighters from Central Fire Station with a water jet. As a result of the fire, three stalls sustained fire and smoke damage.
There were no reported injuries.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the fire had likely originated from the battery pack of the PAB.
To prevent PAB fires, the public is reminded not to leave batteries or devices charging for a prolonged period or charging them unattended overnight. In addition, do not purchase or use non-original batteries. See the accompanying infographic for more fire safety tips. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ

This is just a small battery. What do you think will happen when a battery more than 10 time the size of this battery. Such as an electric car. Would you park your car next to an electric car. Same as this PAB, the battery catches fire by itself, so can electric car batteries.

Make it compulsory for PAB/PMD owners to keep their fireball-on-wheels inside their bedroom. Then they will ensure their batteries are compliant or risk BBQ themselves.
this apply to not only food delivery, private hire car too. All these shit went out of control and we have all sorts of people taking up these kind of jobs. Many make use of these so called jobs and involve in illegal activities and use the job as cover up. we have so many cases of illegal PAB catching fires, we have so many cases of PHV cars being use for illegal transportation and worse, we have lots of young persons who rather do this kind of job just because they can bring back a bit more $ now with lots of freedom but imagine what will happened to all these people 20-30 years later. What is commonly observed is everyone just knows how to push the buck to the government and expects the government to address every little gritty affairs, when none will come forward to play their part to address any safety issues when they witnessed such safety lapses. For eg, u should report to LTA if u spot any illegal PMD/modified unsafe PMB parked along your HDB corridor instead of waiting for a fire disaster to happen to put the blame on the government for not taking effective steps. Remember, safety and security is everyone responsibility.
@@gimhuatang the solution is to ban all form of PMD n PAD to be use for food delivery n riding on the road. Inorder to purchase PMD the person need to be verify from doctor that they have mobility issue. Just like the handicapped sticker in the car so they can allow to use the handicapped lot in carpark. All shop that selling PMD need to have special licence from the authority n all PMD need to have serial number so it can be trace to which shop sold this vehicle. All sale need to be approved by the authority before buyer take over of vehicle. And all buyer also need proof that they have install fire extinguisher in their home from approved suppliers.
