- In March 2011 Margaret Jaconelli and her family were violently evicted from their home in Dalmarnock, Glasgow to make way for the Commonwealth Games athletes village.
In 2024 she returned to the spot where her home once stood to discuss the legacy for Dalmarnock 10 years on.

Well said! Absolute disgrace what they’ve done to the area!
this wee woman here is a shining light in her community !…helped ma wee maw through the worst time in her life ..god bless ye hen x
Her experience - and that of others in Dalmarnock - was a disgrace. Yet more social cleansing. Why did the housing association properties and shops need to be demolished? They haven't been replaced. I followed her story closely, as well as the behaviour of the local government politicians The latter were corrupt, arrogant and self serving. Thanks Chris for this. I'm glad Margaret is back - but she should be in a house she owns like she did before!
Great! Thanks for releasing it to TH-cam!
I am with you Margaret on this!
C mon all you people in positions of private and governmental power and influence over schemes in situations of lack akin to this. You are being rallied to accept this invitation to accept this golden opportunity to extend your reach into the hearts of residents of Dalmarnock both past and present. I urge you to prove your worth by setting the example to your fellow office bearers as to how you believe prospective constituents should be treated. Step out in faith by putting your money where your mouth is. Set your agenda to include viable strategies for the purposes of giving greater increase to the life chances of others. In the interests of serving the greater good this will assist the people of Dalmarnock to create an easily recognised nucleus to their scheme which will enable all generations to build community that will exist to provide a healing and long lasting future social legacy. Amen!
Ugh what the actual fuck man poor lassie, it makes me so mad 😢
Ma wee gran was born in swanson street and lived there with a family of 7 in one room and ma wee papa hid in the power station during the blitz
They cry this community regeneration 😂😂😂 - but they've destroyed the social cohesion o this pairt o Glesca, like they've din in aw ither pairts o Glesca - and noo there's nae sense o community onywhaur - only neeghbours living lives detatched fae yin anither! The lassie is exactly correct in her description and analysis o 'the legacy'!
I see the area has improved 😅
She's right. It could come back! Are the games not there again in 2 years?
It's guid tae here yon lassie speakin in the Glesca vernacular. But a'h mind when kids were cried weans! A'h served ma apprenticeship in Sir William Arrol's in Dunn St./ Baltic St.
