जिस देवी शक्ति को बाहर हम राधा,सीता, पार्वती, अम्बा, भवानी, जोगमाया, सरस्वती आदि नामों से पूजते हैं वही चेतना हमारे शरीर में, रीढ़ की हड्डी के अन्तिम सिरे अर्थात् मूलाधार
में नागिन (सर्पिणी) के रूप में साढे तीन फेरे (कुण्डली) लगाकर सुषुप्त अवस्था में रहती है।
शिष्य में जाग्रत हुई शक्ति (कुण्डलिनी) पर गुरु का पूर्णप्रभुत्रहता है, जिससे वह उसके वेग को नियन्त्रित और अनुशासित करता है। कुण्डलिनी को हमारे शास्त्रों में ‘जगत् जननी’ कहा है। वह उस परमसत्ता का दिव्य प्रकाश है, जो सर्वज्ञ है, सर्वत्र है सर्वशक्तिमान है।
अतः जिस साधक की कुण्डलिनी जाग्रत हो जाती है, उसे अनिश्चितकाल तक के भूत-भविष्य एवं वर्तमान काल की प्रत्यक्षानुभूतिएवं साक्षात्कार होने लगता है।
हमारे शास्त्रों के अनुसार जब तक मुनष्य की कुण्डलिनी जाग्रत होकर सहस्रार तक नहीं पहुंचती, ‘मुक्ति’ नहीं मिलती।
पृथ्वी तत्व का आकाश तत्व से मिलन ही ‘मोक्ष’ है!
यह शक्ति विश्व में एक समय में मात्र एक व्यक्ति के माध्यम से कार्य करती है।
जिसे योगियों ने कुण्डलिनी कहा है।
सिद्धयोग) नाथमत के योगियों की देन है, इसमें सभी प्रकार के योग जैसे भक्तियोग, कर्मयोेग, राजयोग, क्रियायोग, ज्ञानयोग, लययोग, भावयोग, हठयोग आदि सम्मिलित हैं, इसीलिए इसे पूर्ण योग या महायोग भी कहते हैं।

पतंजलि योगदर्शन में साधनापाद के 21 वें श्लोक में योग के आठ अंगों- यम, नियम, आसन, प्राणायाम, प्रत्याहार, धारणा,
ध्यान व समाधि का वर्णन है। सिद्धयोग का दर्शन योग के दर्शन पर आधारित है जो कई हजार वर्षपूर्वप्राचीन ऋषि मत्स्येन्द्रनाथ जी ने प्रतिपादित किया तथा एक अन्य ऋषि पतंजलिने इसे लिपिबद्ध कर नियम बनाये जो ‘योगसूत्र’ के नाम से जाने जाते हैं।

जब गुरुकृपा से सुप्त कुण्डलिनी जाग्रत हो जाती है, तब सभी चक्रों और ग्रन्थियों का (ब्रह्मग्रन्थि, विष्णुग्रन्थि और रूद्रग्रन्थि ) भेदन होता है। इस प्रकार साधक समाधि स्थिति, जो कि समत्त्व
बोध की स्थिति है ,प्राप्त कर लेता है
इसके जाग्रत हुए बिना मनुष्य का व्यवहार पशुवत् रहता है।
समर्थ सदगुरु की करूणा से ही वह आदि शक्ति कुण्डलिनी जाग्रत होती है।
गुरु का इस शक्ति पर पूर्ण प्रभुत्व होता है, इसलिए वह उस गुरु के आदेश के अनुसार चलती है। क्योंकि यह सहस्रार में स्थित परम सत्ता की ‘पराशक्ति’ है।
अतः यह मात्र उसीका आदेश मानती है। इसका स्पष्ट अर्थ है कि जिस व्यक्ति को सहस्रार में स्थित उस परमतत्त्व की सिद्धि हो जाती है, वही इसका संचालन करने का अधिकारी है।
