In SW Florida where I’m going to build, they typically pour a footing then use 3 courses of CMU and a slab on top to form a foundation. I’m thinking about using cast in place for everything. My question, is it possible to cast the footing and the stem wall at the same time then pour the slab after the plumbing?

Thanks for the videos. Is 2" below slab height just for stucco houses? I am pouring a sidewalk down the side of my house, and due to the grade there is one small portion that will come within about an inch of the top of the slab, the rest will taper down to 3" below. My house is not stucco but has wood siding. Learning a lot from your channel, glad I stumbled across them.

Hi Mr. Odell, I have a similar project coming up where I'm adding a parking slab to my existing concrete driveway. However, I'm confused about one thing. You poured 12 yards into a monolithic style slab with integral footers. The footers appear to be 18-30 inches wide and 24 inches deep. My question is, with footers so large what possible structural purpose can the dowels that you drilled into the existing building be serving? I'm sure you wouldn't waste the time on the dowels unless you felt they provide some function. But I cant figure what that purpose is. Thanks.

I’m always imagining doing this all myself, but i’m afraid that the timing parts are a bit difficult if you’ve never done it. Such project is too expensive to mess up.. It’s like baking sandwhiches, the first time you bake it to coal, second time you are checking 3 times too early if it’s ready to flip, third time you get it right.
