Unfortunately, due to complaints from the Cruise companies, plus the inconvenient dying out of the pterodactyls some 148 million years ago, they've replaced them in the traditional drive through the market with country and western singers...
I really enjoyed the tour of Madeira and listening to the info on it and it has a really nice scenic view of the magnificent countryside of Madeira Thank You very much.👍💯👍
Thanks again Mike and Yvonne. Always learning something new from your videos and I have been to Madeira 17 times. I was here recently for three great weeks and left on the 14th November. I am returning in mid December for a month, my first time to see the fireworks. Great work - carry on please
I'd probably quibble over whether Madeira is near the equator (about level with Bermuda and Charleston, South Carolina, US), which is one reason, I think, why it's the land of eternal spring and not eternal summer, but I do really enjoy these videos. Thanks!
And you'd be right to quibble @TexasDoug393 :) - A hearty thanks for watching these videos and an even bigger one for contributing here in the comments!
Thanks Yvonne & Mike ☺ You almost followed the same route I took in my final Madeira 2023 vlog! This was a great guide, comprehensive yet short enough to cover all questions asked. However you should have ended it with a poncha rather than a coffee! 😉😁🍸 Did you work out how many steps & / or miles were covered in this video?! I really hope I'm well enough to do PR1, albeit one way on my next trip to the Pearl as one has to experience it once in a lifetime. By the way greetings from Bangladesh 🇧🇩, yes I was well enough to travel, but I'm still taking it easy & have even made a few vlogs which I've sneaked my family into! Just in case you weren't aware, over 90% of Indian restaurants in the UK are owned & run by those of Bangladeshi heritage. I'll be here for a good while relaxing & topping up my tan in the Sylhet region while avoiding chaotic Dhaka! By the way our mutual amigo Joe Parilla has joined me on some of my live premieres & he has helped me so much with increasing the reach of my channel; God bless him! Also have you bought the Pocket 3 yet? Have a truly beautiful week my dear friends 🤗
Hey Rue, yes I did notice we took similar routes :) - I think there's a natural route through the centre of the city, isn't there, that really shows it off? I'm surprised I didn't log how long it was, considering I was wearing a Garmin 55 at the time (guess I was a bit preoccupied.) But I did notice we were doing up to 25000 steps on some days - that's Madeira for you! We've been watching you back in Bangladesh - (we stopped there briefly on a trip to India centuries ago and particularly remember how friendly everyone was. ) Lovely to see your Mum and Tasnim - hope you're sharing your royalties with them :) And so glad to see you back in the saddle. Haven't got the Pocket 3 yet - I saw a few "in the wild" on the island and chatted to a few people that had them. Definitely need another camera, so we can both shoot independently, and we've loved the Pocket 2. How are you finding the Action 4? It's a bit of a change for you, isn't it? And what gimbal are you using? Glad you hooked up with Joe! His channel is doing really well and it's great to see he's gone all in on his love of food! Enjoy Bangladesh my friend...
@@LivingWalks I'm working on the royalties, but still a way to go to hit the magic 1000 subs even though I'm three quarters of the way there! I'm finding the Action 4 in essence much easier for vlogging than the Pocket 2 as the screen is bigger, the controls & menu are much easier to access & you can manoeuvre it at a quicker pace & am using the internal mic as there's very little wind here. You have to remember that when you're behind the camera the mics (which are at the front) don't pick up your voice as well so you can sound a touch muffled, so I try to move my mouth closer to the camera's side to compensate. It's strange that they can't put a mic at the back of the camera because not every vlogger wants to show off their pretty faces, hmm I could name a couple lol! It also starts recording as soon as it's switched on & you can turn off the screens for recording in incognito mode & it's pretty good under low light. I am however most likely to order a Pocket 3 due to the larger sensor size & a huge upgrade from the Pocket 2 & use both it & the Action 4 in tandem. I have the Action 3 but it needs to go back to DJI as it had the original defects, so once fixed I'll look upon either selling it or keeping it as back up. I've yet to use my Pocket 2 on my current trip so far believe it or not!🤣
Hello @LivingWalks, I have been watching your videos for a long time and really love your content. Your videos are truly like being there, and I love your interviews with fellow travellers as well, As a passionate traveller, I follow many of your interviewees as well. I have been to Madeira now 3 times (10 days in 2018, 14 days in 2022 after Covid, 21 days in 2023 - I wonder if there is a trend here - lol). And for next year I have 4 weeks booked in Madeira. For some reason, this small but breathtaking island feels like home to me. This year I brought 8 Canadians with me to Funchal since I love this place so much. Next year, 4 different friends will be coming over at the same time as me since my enthusiasm for Madeira seems to be rather contagious. I took a ton of photos this year all over Madeira but no videos, so your moving images really bring back so many lovely memories. Parque de Santa Caterina is one of my favourite spots in the city, with its great views of the coastline and the harbour and such a gorgeous setting with the lake and all the trees and flowers....
Hello @SQExplores ! It's really nice to get your feedback - it's very helpful for us too. Yes, I can see you're in danger of falling in love with the island :) It's an easy place to return to, again and again. We share your love of Parque de Santa Catarina - as you can probably guess by how many of our videos go through it :) I hope you enjoy your 4 weeks next year - I'm sure you will.
Thankyou@@LivingWalks. I'd love to connect with you next year. You left a comment on my old TH-cam channel (travelandtransitions) in August, and we both touched base that we should connect. I have started a new TH-cam channel in the meantime that already has some Madeira content on it, with lots more to come!
Lovely informative video but:- "How far is Madeira from the equator and on what hemisphere is it? Madeira is 2,263.55 mi ( 3,642.83 km ) north of the equator, so it is located in the northern hemisphere. Apologies, there is always one clever bugger eh. Maybe you meant "close to the Tropic of Cancer" which it is,
Do pop by and say hello, it's the nicest thing about being here on YT!
Oh Mike, you do amuse yourself, and luckily you amuse, entertain and inform me too. Thanks mate for another great video!
Ah, I've decided talking to myself is my latest hobby, but glad to have another listening ear.
What a handy and informative little guide!!
Happy to oblige MA!
Thanks once again for sharing your font of knowledge and your humour!
Happy to know someone apart from myself likes to listen to me!! All the best mate.
Fantastic journey! Really great scenery. Enjoyed every minute of this! Thanks!
Thanks for staying in touch mate!!
Great stuff Mike - one more question for you - do they still herd the pterodactyls through the market on a Monday morning? ;)

Our pleasure Alex. Sounds like you love the island as much as we do - and I think you'll enjoy the fireworks :)
