Just to clarify most networks use PRIVATE IP Addresses as opposed to PUBLIC IP Addresses on the internet. Your ISP usually gives only ONE IP address for your router. Your home router usually has a DHCP server built in which automatically generates the PRIVATE IP addresses in your network when enabled. When DHCP is disabled you have to manually assign IP addresses to devices.
So your home computer does not actually go out into the internet (cloud) to look for a DHCP server... It can only look within your PRIVATE network. Within your private network you can only have ONE DHCP server dishing out IP addresses. Otherwise there will be IP conflicts. Hence in his other videos daisy-chaining old routers he has disabled DHCP and left it only with the primary router.

There are 3 IP configuration modes for Windows: static (assigned by network admin), dynamic (assigned by a DHCP server), and self-assigned.

I want to prepare one whole linux lab with 20 pc's in it. All the system are connected to switch via ethernet cable to DHCP server. I don't want to take the risk in existing network.
Can i make one of the pc as a temporary dhcp proxy server in the lab and install the Os in rest of the Pc's simultaneously ?

Hey, thanks for your video, but i have a serious question!
Why APIPA alway start with 169?
Why it doesn't start with 120 or 195 or something like that?
What is the matmatical purpose behind it?
    Thanks
