But the explanation is wrong and incomplete… this is not an explanation of the DHCP protocol. Rather it’s a (incomplete) explanation of a DHCP server. Nothing is explained about the actual DHCP protocol. It’s good to try and make things easy and understandable, but it should be complete and correct. Seems to me the maker of this video has limited knowledge of actual networking subjects like dhcp, arp, broadcasting etc.

A feast for the eyes and didactically very valuable: the accompanying animations ("...people think in pictures").
I myself have little technical knowledge of the IT sector, but after enjoying the various presentations I understand a few things much better in relation to the topics - the knowledge I have learned is often even useful for "home use".
This makes learning twice as much fun!

The actial process is more complicated than it was described in this video. There is no information about DHCP-messages (DISCOVER, OFFER, REQUEST, e.t.c), timers, options and the other things related to DHCP, that obviously you were told during your Btech. Though the video is good in explaining the basics

in-depth yet crystal clear. we need people like this man in the Unis to teach, not the academic a-holes who throw a bunch of jargons at you to show off their esteems and past glories and gives no interest in their teaching methodologies.
This is why sometimes a cert is more important than Uni degrees.
I have friends who can find jobs with CompTia certs without prior experience nor degree in the IT, and another friend who's gone thru 3 year IT degree at Uni and still don't know how to clarify what a BIOS is.

I'm studying to take the A+ exam and when I am answering practice questions, I can visualize these animations and it helps so much. The animations are the best and they're funny sometimes, too, which is also a good way to remember them. THANK YOU!!
My Prof spent almost 1 semester to teach these concepts but you can cover them up in less than 10 videos, Bravo !!

This is the best Network training youtube channel I have ever come across. The content is very explanatory and high-level. No need for boring notes and slides when you can understand the concept with simple animations.

I’m preparing for interviews and this helped me a lot. I’ve studied about dhcp two years ago which I bearly remember.I have been feeling very low for not clearing interviews but after watching this video I got a hope that it is never too late to revise and start from scratch.I’m going to put my 100% efforts in preparing though I feel bad for missing out all good companies due to lack of preparation

Your networking videos are Great! Basics explained so clearly that anyone can understand them! Only critique is that there are no mentions of the hardware MAC address level that uniquely identifies devices. Router's, DHCP, NAT and IP addresses still seem like magic without knowing that there is an underlying hard wired address for every port.
This man is a excellent teacher, never seen better videos than his. All his videos are excellent to learn. Thank you for teaching us!

The actual DHCP process is not that simple. Here is just a sketchy information for everyone

All of the info here is accurate, but the process has been simplified for an introductory audience. It’s important to understand the overall process, but also remember that systems like these work on a model of explicit commands, requests and acknowledgements. It’s one thing to understand the general concept, but another thing altogether to diagnose or troubleshoot the process when problems occur.
Its amazing how you simplify the complicated process and put it across to the viewers.

One important thing to mention is that you can also ask your DHCP-server to expire your lease immediately. Lets say there are no available IP-adresses, and your friend wants to connect to the internet, you can expire your lease to give your friend access without configuring the DHCP-server. This can be done with the command "ipconfig/release" in cmd (windows).

Excellent videos. While I applaud your efforts and your commitment to the CompTIA line of certification studies, I can't help but wonder if you would be willing to create more higher level certification series videos such as CCNA material for different categories. (R&S, DC, Security, etc).
