Actually, it was his decision to pass or shoot. The play was specially designed as a multi option play to confuse the defense and open up their chance at an open shot. Sports History is riddled with players making wrong decisions, even when they are guarded. Some get caught in the moment of glory and see its difficulty as adding more drama and amazement to potentially making THE shot. Point is, Arch’s maturity, awareness, unselfishness for the team goal and confidence in his teammate to handle it, knowing he had a better chance, was in full display. This play is so much more than what is seen on the surface. It should be dissected and taught by all high school coaches for years to come. Furthermore, if you want to know how more incredible it is Arch giving up the ball is, look into clutch shots made by Archdiacono, given his resume...especially the game winner against top 5 Syracuse in 2013....honestly, his resume said he should have taken the shot even with a hand in the face. That’s what makes this so great. He didn’t let his ego, or over confidence define him, he let is instincts and it paid off.

He always wished that Villanova would eventually win again in March Madness, and his wish happened. My dad was the happiest when he got the Villanova NCAA champions cap. To this day, he still wears it.

they had Divencenzo, Bridges, Hart, and Brunson on that team and the only one on the court to end the game was Hart. goes to show how deep that team was
