@KEENG LOUIE If you can't see the entertainment in Noel Khan tripping, getting decapitated by an axe that was lying on the floor, his head bouncing down the stairs, and the cast using that noise as a distraction to escape a blind girl with a gun.. I pity you
Y'all. My parents had on Jonathan Livingston Seagull all of the time growing up, but I had no WHY until now. It's because my mom loves Neil Diamond. Thank you for connecting dots I didn't know existed.
The book was at the top of the New York Times Best Seller list for 37 weeks and the Neil Diamond score won the 1974 Grammy Award as Best Original Score, so yes, it was a big thing.
sometimes I worry I'll never get my own scripts/novels published, and then I see dialogue like "I'm not people, I'm a ghost" and I stop worrying about it dshgljfghjdfhgjdfsgkjd I laughed SO hard
You have no idea how much this video has made me laugh, and how much I really needed it. What a beautiful disaster of a film. You two are amazing. Thank you! You'll never really truly know how much these videos mean to some of us
I read the book Johnathon Livingston Seagull when I was in Sunday School (United Church of Canada) and listened to a record of it in Sunday School. My Dad was a minister and gave me the book. I was around 12 years old. Never knew there was a movie!!) and we all read it
This film may be some confusing passion flick-esque nonsense, but one thing is clear: Averyl looks fabulous in jodpurs. Giving mild Indiana "I will steal your man and your treasure" casual.
If you want a taste of the terror a ghost piano can inflict then watch the campy, japanese, horror movie House (1977). Absolutely wild time and I watch it every halloween.
So here is my pitch for the horror ghost piano movie, there is an old music school that was abandoned but got recently purchased and they now want to remake it but it was abandoned because a massacre happened in the school (I’m thinking Carrie prom but it’s a piano recital) and when they clean the place up, the new owner comes across this blocked off room that has this very rare and well intacted piano and of course the piano is cursed by the ghost of the person who started the massacre but I was thinking it was like either a ring situation where they need to know the ghost and why or a Prom night 2 situation where they wanted to win first place. And deaths happen to those who play it. It’s something like the ring meets grand piano meets prom night 2. In the right hands could be a good movie
...and I was chanting "FUCK THAT GHOOOOST!!...."FUCK THAT GHOST!!! If ever I'm in a movie theater watching a movie with a ghost, that's what I will be yelling whether or not anyone in the movie has any intention of actually fucking the ghost or not.
You guys always make me laugh, but only once before had you made me laugh so hard I couldn't breathe (Wild Mountain Thyme, THAT classic), but then there was Avaryl, stone faced somehow, talking about the 15min period in the middle of the glorious seagull movie where there were just seagulls walking, just walking around. I join the hordes demanding a retro review of this seagull movie, it WAS made for you guys (perhaps Neil Diamond knew back then and that's why he involved himself in this).
Since Avaryl couldn’t remember Antonio Fargas, they should review I’m Gonna Git You Sucka. It’s a hilarious Wayans Brothers movie from 1988, and Fargas is great in it.
3:03 ok but why did seeing the seagull walk around with sad piano keys instantly make me want to cry? growing up watching milo & otis 400 times has ruined me.
This video is hysterical and I was looking forward to this movie being reviewed. I really hope you review the new Jurassic world movie when you can because your review for the last one was a cultural reset.
Jonathan Livingston Seagull!!!! Yaaaaaas. So oddly enough my old therapist made me read this book? Then we could talk about how the seagull represents freedom and life??? PLEASE retro review the movie and do a watch party 100% I want that. I would die. The book made me question wtf I was reading a good half the time but I loved it and was very stoned while I read it.
Your guys’ idea of a ghost piano movie reminded me of one of the episodes of the disaster/masterpiece “horror” anime that I adore called “Ghost Stories”. It’s great because it flopped domestically in Japan (because it was very generic and meh), so when it was licensed they told the English dub cast “Improv everything, CHAOS REIGNS.” and the result was marvelous. Anyway, there’s one episode where there’s a cursed piano that plays Moonlight Sonata and if you hear it play X times, it steals your soul. So one of the characters ends up hearing it and from then on tries to avoid anything with an audio connection. It escalated to the point where she’s running down the street being perused by the piano and I swear to God I laughed so hard I peed a little. Would recommend
Retro Review a little film called 'Truly, Madly, Deeply' Starring Alan Rickman - also inspiring the song by Savage Garden, one of the truly campiest wedding songs ever designated thus to be. That movie is also wild.
i love these reviews of movies i will probably never watch. if i wanted to see a love story about a ghost, i would have stayed in my first marriage. oh! you’re not jeffrey!
Until We Meet Again (the thai BL) is GREAT!! very cute, tragic to begin with (because of the previous life ending in tragedy) but super duper cute with the parallels between the two pairs, plus a fab side couple that are getting their own series this year. I've seen a lot of thai BLs (which i will eventually make a video about) but that's still one of my favourites!!
Hello fabulous cooonts, may I please make a request for a retro review? Maxie, the 1985 film with Glenn and Mandy P, and Ruth Gordon. (librarian gets possessed by the ghost of alcoholic silent movie star, which saves their marriage) x
Avryl I thought you have seen everything and read everything how, how have you never seen Johnathan Livingston Segull???????!!!!!!!!! I read that book as a child and it weird..well I thought it was weird a whole book about a seagull.
So I was looking at the IMDb page for this movie and honestly everyone needs to read the 10/10 review someone left because wow! When this movie eventually becomes a movie covered on HDTGM, that needs to be one of the second opinion reviews. Also I saw an image with the Lisa character at an agency and the agency is called “The Hollywood Talent Agency” which is so generically bad. It reminded me of Vodka brand Vodka from Liz and dick the Lindsey Lohan Elizabeth Taylor movie. Also the sign for that agency had a fax number. Even in 2013 that was so out of date.
I shudder to think how many seagulls died making that movie. Lord knows, many, many, many puppies and kittens died filming "Milo & Otis". I grew up with that movie, but reading out about the production hurt my heart.
If you haven't already, you need to watch the MST3K episode of 'Soultaker'. Pretty damn hilarious and one of my favorite episodes, featuring both Robert Z'Dar AND Joe Estevez!
Until We Meet Again is my favorite Thai Bl. I don't think you should review it but I do recommend you watch it. The acting is amazing and you will cry your eyes out.
My mother played the soundtrack a LOT when I was a kid... and there was even a spoof called Jonathan Livingston Budgerigar unless that was a fever dream I had...
there is no homophobia in BL stories. other asian countries do them as well but thailand is the queen of BL. BL stands for Boys Love (known as shounen ai in japan when referring to manga) its a genre all of its own and mostly consumed by women. you should check some out if interested. most of them are teen angst high school stuff there are some with grown men. there is one i saw an ad for where its like a detective who falls for a bad boy criminal. they were HOT!
I watched this last night. Today in work I met a director who referred to Johnathan Livingstones Seagull…I have never laughed so much in my life. Thanks Avaryl 😂 now I need to watch it
Totally watch a sequel when she has ghost babies. "oh no, I f*cked with this ghost now, I am pregnant'' and he has to come back to help raise the babies, because they are ghosts and she can't handle, they live in the house, because the woman just gave to her after her concerto. One of babies grow up to be a famous concerto pianist with a ghost piano or something. :D
So if the marketing team contacted Andrew that means either they have no clue what your channel does or they know this is a terrible movie and are hoping bad movie lovers will go out and see it.
Love you guys. Not advocating at all for the seagull movie HOWEVER--- I must quickly add that Richard Bach's book of Jonathan Livingston Seagull was incredibly profound at the time. Can't vouch for the film of it in any way. But that mthafing book was the most marvelous spiritual experience when I was a kid. His books after that changed my consciousness utterly. (Of course I am a Californian.)
i totally understand everything you said averyl. i sadly dont know anyone in digital art who can do that animated cher share button for ya but great idea. wait. double toasted has an animated toast when ever they get a new subscriber on twitch. ill ask them tomorrow and see if they can give me that person's information
Can you guys please just give me a straight answer? You have no intention of ever reviewing Drag Race in a timely manner, do you? I mean, I stayed subscribed because I loved your Drag Race reviews, but it really seems like you guys have just decided "fuck everyone who watches us".
.....this is like the 5th video where you ask this. Their channel isn't strictly drag race. Many of us also love their retro reviews. If you're going to bitch about the movie bitches reviewing...err...movies then fucking unsubscribe and go bitch at another channel. I've had it OFFICIALLY
Truly the craziest part of this whole review is discovering that Avaryl endured the MANY seasons of Pretty Little Liars
Nah, I get it. That show was terrible and yet extremely entertaining
@KEENG LOUIE
If you can't see the entertainment in Noel Khan tripping, getting decapitated by an axe that was lying on the floor, his head bouncing down the stairs, and the cast using that noise as a distraction to escape a blind girl with a gun.. I pity you
For the absolute love of everything, please do that friggin seagull movie. Omg, I was cackling until I couldn't breathe!!
I second this! We must know if Not Steven Seagull succeeds in his journey!
🤣🤣🤣
That seagull movie seemed familiar, like trauma I buried from my school assembly years.
“I designed this house myself………. It was very ahead of its time” I cackled.
I love that “fuck you, movie!” has become “Fuck! That! Ghost!” I approve of this development wholeheartedly.
Y'all. My parents had on Jonathan Livingston Seagull all of the time growing up, but I had no WHY until now. It's because my mom loves Neil Diamond. Thank you for connecting dots I didn't know existed.
Back when it was made, Johnathan Livingston Seagull was taken VERY seriously. Both the novel and the movie. watch it at your own risk.
I remember reading the book. I liked it very much. For what it was, short, with pictures, it was good. I can't imagine stretching that into a movie.
I can verify this is true.

Please invite Katya back to review the new Batman movie. Your Batman and Robin review with her is brilliant.
This type of trash being reviewed by you two is exactly the content I am HERE for.
(19:55) that is Antonio Fargas who is known for playing Huggy Bear on Starsky & Hutch. Also from 70s Blaxploitation films.
I couldn’t believe Avaryl didn’t know his name.
If you want a taste of the terror a ghost piano can inflict then watch the campy, japanese, horror movie House (1977). Absolutely wild time and I watch it every halloween.
I love that one! We watched it in my j-horror film class and I fell in love with it lol that and X-Cross!
I love Hausu!
I want to watch a whole livestream reaction of John Livingston Seagull
So here is my pitch for the horror ghost piano movie, there is an old music school that was abandoned but got recently purchased and they now want to remake it but it was abandoned because a massacre happened in the school (I’m thinking Carrie prom but it’s a piano recital) and when they clean the place up, the new owner comes across this blocked off room that has this very rare and well intacted piano and of course the piano is cursed by the ghost of the person who started the massacre but I was thinking it was like either a ring situation where they need to know the ghost and why or a Prom night 2 situation where they wanted to win first place. Now, could jonathan livingston seagull be a good drag name?
Oh absolutely
You guys always make me laugh, but only once before had you made me laugh so hard I couldn't breathe (Wild Mountain Thyme, THAT classic), but then there was Avaryl, stone faced somehow, talking about the 15min period in the middle of the glorious seagull movie where there were just seagulls walking, just walking around.

Okay but I need Avaryl to give her review of Pretty Little Liars immediately because that show turned into such a complete mess from season 5 onwards
Very obsessed with the way Avaryl pronounces seagull
A piano playing rodent movie: "Ratmaninow"
So we all agree that Rik needs to create a "Fuck that ghost!!!" t-shirt, right? ;)
My only issue with this review is that I'm not there to keep our wine glasses full while discussing Leslie Jordan at great length.
This video is hysterical and I was looking forward to this movie being reviewed. I really hope you review the new Jurassic world movie when you can because your review for the last one was a cultural reset.

I now have a need to see 'Ratsody in Blue' !!
[ I will admit that I did see 'Jonathon Livingston Seagull' at a drive-in many many years ago.]
Your guys’ idea of a ghost piano movie reminded me of one of the episodes of the disaster/masterpiece “horror” anime that I adore called “Ghost Stories”. I saw Run Lola Run at the German film festival the other day and it was only 80 minutes. So good
I saw Mona Vanderwaal and Jasper Hale interacting. I'm. In.
Strangest find of 2022 lol
Hoping for a review of Everything Everywhere All At Once
Ratmaninoff!

Love that Man on a Wire was 3 phones ago but ‘I believe in you’ is still a thing😂😂
Hello fabulous cooonts,
may I please make a request for a retro review?
Maxie, the 1985 film with Glenn and Mandy P, and Ruth Gordon.
(librarian gets possessed by the ghost of alcoholic silent movie star, which saves their marriage) x
That red phone. Is she staying in Adam West's Batman's west coast house?
Avryl I thought you have seen everything and read everything how, how have you never seen Johnathan Livingston Segull???????!!!!!!!!! I read that book as a child and it weird..well I thought it was weird a whole book about a seagull.
I can't believe I used to be obsessed with Jackson Rathbone. What was I thinking??
I mean he is handsome and I was in love with Jasper.
I absolutely lost it at “He’s eating, drinking, and presumably pooping.” Just regular ghost stuff, ya know?
So I was looking at the IMDb page for this movie and honestly everyone needs to read the 10/10 review someone left because wow! When this movie eventually becomes a movie covered on HDTGM, that needs to be one of the second opinion reviews.

Until We Meet Again is my favorite Thai Bl. I don't think you should review it but I do recommend you watch it. The acting is amazing and you will cry your eyes out.
That seagull book the movie was based on was a really popular book where I'm from, I think it was even taught at my school!
My mother played the soundtrack a LOT when I was a kid... and there was even a spoof called Jonathan Livingston Budgerigar unless that was a fever dream I had...

Not LeToya Luckett one of the original mebers of Destiny's child is in this movie
I completely lost my mind when the seagull said "You do not believe as we believe." never has there been a greater example of kismet
I watched this last night. Today in work I met a director who referred to Johnathan Livingstones Seagull…I have never laughed so much in my life. Thanks Avaryl 😂 now I need to watch it

Your ghost piano reminded me of the Japanese horror movie "housu" , where a girl gets eaten by a piano. It's fun.
omg I remember reading jonathan livingston seagull I didn't know there was a movie lmao
So 'Romeo I found the again' or 'juliet why art thou ghoulish?'
Avaryl, are you not-so-subtly trying to stop Andrew doing his Cher impression?
Yes. This is gold. More please.
Holy shit, I read Jonathan Livingston Seagull when I was a kid. I had no idea it was a movie. Just…how? And…WHY?
i totally understand everything you said averyl. i sadly dont know anyone in digital art who can do that animated cher share button for ya but great idea. wait. double toasted has an animated toast when ever they get a new subscriber on twitch. ill ask them tomorrow and see if they can give me that person's information

There's a ghost piano in Girls5eva season 1
I don't know if you ever watch teenie series, but the way you're talking about this makes me think you might enjoy Julie and the phantoms a bit more.
The only movie I've ever walked out of was Air America. I was bored to tears.
Thanks!
Missed opportunity for Jackson to become her ghost writer to aid her music career.
🤣👻🤣
18:54 speaking of which are we getting a review of everything everywhere all at once??
The line of the day is... I'm confused.
Honestly would not be upset or made or dislike the video if it ended at 5:58 periot
more sharks
Fuck! That! Ghost!!!!
It's Shane in the shower and then he cheats on her with the ghost.
🌼
Woooooo movie bitches!!
