    4:00 "I'm using a biscuit joiner for the bottom and even though you're not going to see it I wanted to accomplish a super clean look." That statement speaks volumes about who you are as a craftsman.

    Nice work! Love the floating shelves!! Wiring tip - if you stagger the cuts/splices of the wires slightly so they're not at the same position, you'll have less "bulk" to slide the tubing over

    I make “floating” shelves. There are so many videos out there. So many. Yours is the one I would recommend to others. A good pace. Only the necessities but not skimping on important details. And, as a contractor that has been paid to install floating shelves, I love you secret storage and lighting idea. Nicely done.

Plus most of the employees there are very helpful with beginners tools such as squares, hand saws even the electric hand saws, and when our host here posts his tutorial for beginners, this post will help you a little more :)

    Looks pretty cool, but I think it would look a lot better with a larger tv mounted just above it so that it's more obvious why it's there.
    Also would have been a good idea to add a surge protector multiplug built into it so that you can easily plug and hide any other wires (like for a game system or dvr). also perhaps you wouldn't have had to mess with the cutting and extending wires, etc.

    • @DIYCreators
      @DIYCreators  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you, I actually replaced the tv already for a larger one :).
      All my equipment is in a remote location so everything is out of sight.

      @EileenTheCr0w 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      DIY Creators Oh, I suppose that works too. Is there a closet behind that wall or something to put the wires through?
      Btw, really like the design. I wonder how much weight it would hold.

    • @DIYCreators
      @DIYCreators  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It does, I'm using one of my kitchen cabinets that we don't use to hide all the equipment. I show that in one of my future videos of the house tour.
      This could easily hold a 100 pounds. I wouldn't put anymore unless reinforced differently.

      I have to say you do a fine job on your projects.
      One thing you could do for some of us is to offer a tutorial as to the aspects of the LED lighting you use or lead us to that end. This aspect of project ideas is full of fertile ground. Understanding the 'number types' of lighting available, styles, and basic make-up of the energy needed to make things work would be useful.

      Hey Man, I started with a few sites that actually have plans and step by step guides to doing some stuff. Sold some, Kept some but it was good to start getting acquainted with techniques and tools. Try Anna-White.com Fixthisbuildthat.com diypete.com

    I often wonder how many people try to find a secret hiding spot in a regular floating wall shelf.

      Royal Bleach I thought the same thing. It’d suck for someone to sit on it and ruin all that hard work. Awesome build still!

    You are fantastic!! That shelf is great! I started woodworking last year and I love it. I’m going to attempt to make this shelf. The only thing I don’t have is the biscuit thingy. Thank you so much for sharing your time and wonderful creations.
