Hey everyone! Thanks for your patience during my work on "Streets of Rage - Final Crash." It's time to get back to 🦔Sonic the Hedgehog 🦔and move forward! "Marble Zone" is a rather somber, yet energetic little number that sets the feel for stage 2, but I wanted to build up the momentum and energy to give it a more lively feel. My expansion plays upon the original track with variance, before slipping into a happy-go-lucky middle section that keeps building more and more, until the song dives back into the darker-sounding territory of the stock track. I like how it bounces back between light and dark, simulating how Sonic might have felt when he was dealing with traps and perils underground, all in an effort to make it to the surface for a breath of fresh air.
Really like the distinct upbeat/melancholic switches throughout, highlighting the above and underground sections, as you mentioned. This is a zone I hope to cover sometime. I actually updated my previous Star Light remix yesterday.
@@MaestroDraven absolutely, it just had a really different vibe to the rest of the ost, suited the almost graveyard like setting of the marble zone, was always a big favourite of mine for that reason, cannot wait to hear what you have planned for the rest of the album.
Ahhh yes, the Marble Zone! One of my least favorite levels in the Sonic franchise, but still has a fantastic theme song! (Can't wait for Labyrinth Zone, by the way 😂); for whatever reason, it was always the last Act of the second Zone that gave me trouble in each Sonic game when I was younger- so weird- but enough about that: onto the song! The original section of the song sounds beautiful of course~ That snare drum compliments the main melody so well! That high quality sound just hits me right in the nostalgia feels 0:38 I love the doubling up of this Marble Motif right at the end in the lead up to the expansion~ A classic musical technique, never gets old for me ☺️ I love that these are the notes that appear most frequently in the song also 0:45 Fantastic idea on slowing the pace of the song down, kind of like how this Zone slows the pace of the game down from the "run wild, live fast and free" pace of the Green Hill Zone~ The rapid back and forth of those two notes kind of reminds me of Bowser's theme in the original Mario Bros.- not sure if that was intentional, but I think it helps me to visualize the lava pits within the ancient temple ruins 1:14 Marble Motif! Loving that snare drum~ 1:30 In speaking of the Green Hill Zone, I hear that Green Hill instrument there! You can't hide from me, Maestro 😂 This section sounds more optimistic and happy than the previous section, which must be the above ground sections of the Zone, where the Green Hill grass is visible for the last time in the game- oh my goodness, I just realized that... that's kind of wild- I must say, I do feel much more optimistic about the above ground sections personally 😂 1:41 I love that waterfall-like sound from the Marble Zone theme as well~ I'm happy that you made use of it a couple of times in this section 2:12 Marble Motif! 2:30 And there it is again! Right in the lead up to the main melody reprisal~ Oh this is so brilliant!! 2:45 Back to the main melody, no backing track until halfway through to build some tension~ And then the tracks just keep building up and up to a satisfying crescendo! Yes, yes, YES!! 3:45 I love the optimistic end to the song - Sonic has finally escaped the Marble Zone, and it's onto the Spring Yard! You've still got it! Fantastic work! I'd also like to congratulate you on finishing the Final Crash remixes for Streets of Rage at long last ☺️ You've put so many years of work into those remixes, and I'm really happy that you've finally produced versions that you're happy with - even bringing in some unused tracks! It's onto bigger and better things from here; I hope I'll get the opportunity to play SORX someday
It's time for another DrVolk breakdown! 👍Great ear, but the snare is actually a modified clap. I originally created an enhanced and beefed up snare that felt similar to the one in the original game, but I felt it was a bit too potent here, so I only used it sparingly. And yes, the idea was to offset the ominous tone of this by referencing the overall happiness of the game, so it was an above/underground switcheroo feel. Thanks for the support as always, and I appreciate your comments about Final Crash, too. As for SOR-X, you should be able to play the Beta of it right now, but a new one is on its way soon once IceFerno and I finish our collab track that will be used for the main menu. More on that soon.
Marble the Zone, sucks ass - Marble the Song, slaps. i think out of all classic sonic songs its the one that randomly comes to me the most. This is a wonderful extention of it.
Make the "Marble Zone" more fun? It's a good idea, because it's true: this track was soporific. The extension came out great! Keep up the good work! The only thing that bothers me is the Bells ("Tinkling", as I call it). They hit the ears a little bit and sound like they came from "Sonic 8-bit Games". We need to lower the frequency a little bit.

Oooh, that's clever!
Keep doing this ALL THE WAY to Sonic 3!🎉

I'm gonna be listening to that when I wake up in the morning! Thanks for the heads up on that. 👍
I agree with you Ice and your remix is incredibly good
The nostalgia hits hard. Great work!
That extension went from melancholy to one hell of light at the end of the tunnel shift. This is going in the playlist for sure.
How I feel playing that level 😊
This brings back so many memories of playing this at my friend's house when it came out! Great job! 👍
Yeah Man ! Ive been grooving on the Title theme since.
this is a certified marble moment.
Bravo, Maestro! Nostalgia meets innovation in a perfect harmony. Love the vibe! 🦔💙
I love your remixes, dude. Keep up the good work!
This Is my favorite music in the ruins of marble zone
Damn, it sounds just perfect. I loved every bit of it. Will surely recommend to the people of my channel, since we all love sonic. Great job 💜

Damn this track never fails to hit me in the childhoood, beautifully done. 😎💜
Thanks RR! I also used to think this was a sleeper hit on the original album.

Yo Draven, I great job, I get the same vibe from when I listened to Tee Lopes, I hope you get to do the soundtrack on the game of your dreams!
