I’m sorry 🙏🏽..but you are wrong on some things. Yes all what you mentioned happened unfortunately but what you are indicating here is that Osho and his entire following was a cult and out to bring out the worst in society. Osho was an enlightened being, the greatest that ever lived. One of his close circles turned sour and they did a lot of wrong. Sadly it brought down the entire reputation of Osho. It’s actually very sad but if you read his books, watch his discourses you will know that the knowledge that he brought out to the world was way beyond his time. So many could not understand him at that time and yet millions did as well! Millions got transformed in the most beautiful way and please have a look at his ashram in Pune which is flourishing right now. See his popularity. A man who is supposed to have done so much wrong in this world will not have a following like he still does🙏🏽. He spoke the raw truth..he was careless not to keep an eye on the many wrong happenings in his commune but as a being, he was completely innocent and never hurt a soul.
His legacy will only continue. He was / is the greatest that ever lived. Please read his books, please visit his centers where you can learn the meditation techniques …only then ( with experience) one will understand. Only those who has come under his grace, who transformed into meditative states ( extreme bliss) will truly understand this so I also do understand that’s it’s difficult to grasp this.
Please read his books…there will be some understanding. I wish more people would not just see the surface level of such things but go deeper to truly understand. There is so much misunderstanding in this world.

Atlas Obscura interestingly enough I grew up in Hood River, the next town west of The Dalles , I had a girlfriend in highschool who worked there and my father still eats there weekly (their veggie burrito is amazing and neither he nor I are vegetarians). Sri-Rajneesh is kind of a weird tale in oregon, for years in multnomah county the city restitution center was called the Rajneesh hotel because the sheriffs department bought the building from the rajneesh family after he had gone through court with the antelope deal........I was born here in oregon in 1980 and can count members of my extended family who were taken in by the whole "rajneesh path to enlightenment" and have been told stories of waiting in a single file line that stretched for more then a mile, waiting for the eminence himself to drive by in a gold Mercedes so's they can blow kisses in its general direction (this was done in the middle of the day in antelope which is high desert and 100 degrees plus in the summer).

kind of , The "dælz" is the phonetic way of spelling it. Comes from the french word "dalle" which refered to the basalt rocks in the columbia which was then used to describe the rapids in the river. The Dalles = The Rapids

I agree, it's not dulles, oregon..it is actually The Dalles. The is part of the town name. It's a translation from the French name Les Dalles meaning the stepping stones. The town was named this when the Lewis and Clark party stooped because the islands in the Columbia looked like stepping stones. My mom was pregnant with my brother and then me at the time of these attacks. It was mainly salad bars. US locals are particular about the town name and facts, it so.often mis pronounced or the is left off.

Poor Sheela had nothing to do with it. She certainly became a victim; I have all compassion for her. It has to be understood how you can become entangled. All the telephones from the commune were taped. I was in isolation and silence; Sheela was my secretary and the president of the foundation. Seeing that all the telephones were taped , she started taping the incoming calls to find that the government, F.B.I., C.I.A.,and other government agencies, had their agents in the commune hiding as sannyasins, who went on giving information.
Sheela was not a criminal. When I chose her as my secretary she was an innocent woman of great intelligence, but the American politicians destroyed her innocence. Whatever they were doing, she had to do as a counterattack, as a defence. All her crimes are basically the crimes of American politicians which she repeated -- just to save the commune.

What about all the incidents of salmonella happened across the US after Rajneesh? Who is responsible for those?
There are hidden messages in some of the recalled items when put together to form sentences. Not all recalls are from a virus or bacteria. Sometimes a group of people will make multiple complaints to get a brand on a recall list.

The coolest place I've been has been Rome. They have lots of classic falling down buildings and white statues. My question is why are all the statues blank and stuff... Did the paint just fall off one day and everyone was like, "oh, that's how they liked it" They seemed to have appreciated color in their life as evidenced by the frescoes and tesseract picture thingies. But all the statues are plain, even in the vatican. And now all the monuments in D.C. are similarly blank and plain, Too!!!

When classically-inspired sculptures and reliefs were made during the last five hundred years or so, the sculptors deliberately left them blank as people assumed they were white originally!
