I keep coming back to No Man's Sky, and it always gives me something new. I "beat" Starfield once, and have no desire ever to play it again. That tells me everything I need to know. Shipbuilding was good in Starfield, but you can't actually fly it anywhere, so what's the point?
This is pretty in line with how I feel though I do think I’ll keep coming back to Starfield to try and 100% (without going too crazy). But I can see how Starfield today does feel like a finite experience, No Man’s Sky less so! Are you as hyped as I am for Light No Fire?! Thanks for watching :)
@@AretaicGames "I've recently adopted a policy of never pre-ordering a game, but I'll make an exception for LNF. After eight years of free updates to NMS, Hello Games can basically just take my money." This is EXACTLY how I feel, and have said as much to a few friends!
I love no man’s sky because after a long day, I can just kick back, cruise around the galaxy, farm and mine and refine stuff, and always find the time goes by faster than I expect. I would understand if people say it’s “boring”. It sort of is, but for me it’s great. I really wish there was more to do with the success you achieve in late-game though.
It blows my mind how time slips by while playing NMS. There’s always one more thing to grind or one more planet to peek at. Really great, addictive loop. And it feels even better because there is always something else you could do, but never anything you have to do. Thanks for watching!!
If Starfield didn't adhere so strongly to the realism in a science fiction game, we could have had something good. After you find an artifact you have to go through a minimum of 4 loading screens, (1: getting on your ship. 2: fast travel to the eye. 3: attach to the eye. 4: enter the eye.) talk to Vlad and get your next artifact location. If all you had to do was sit in your seat and call Vlad on the space phone for the next set of coordinates, I don't think the criticisms would be too harsh. Just having a space phone in general would smooth out a lot of the questing process. They already have a News Station that can somehow run breaking news alerts across the galaxy in seconds, not to mention the bounty system that somehow knows you killed an NPC 10 jumps away from any populated system, but somehow the police know your exact crime the moment you fast travel back to Jemison. Mechanical systems aren't congruent with the established lore systems and immersion just falls apart.
SSNN use ships to broadcast and move data around through grav jumps. And the bounty system only communicates the bounty back to the settled systems if the last witness is alive. If you take out the last witness the bounty is discarded.
IMO the lack of any sort of phone is a big blow to realism. Why are you jogging across town to talk to people? Also, if they are not going to let you shoot CEOs who casually propose mass murder of refugees, which I believe you can do, ?… why not explain that by CEOs not actually allowing you face to face? Limiting it to a planet would still avoid a bunch of loading screens, but whether an ftl phone is realistic in an ftl setting is pretty arbitrary. I haven’t played it.. I may be misrepresenting things. This is just based on reviews.
@@peterd9698Shifting gravity to fold space around a mass to make it traverse said space faster than light is worlds apart from the concept of just simply shooting WAVES faster than light back and forth in real-time. Trying to exchange information without a medium to use the FTL technology on, is like trying to make a bullet hole by shooting a bullet out of an empty magazine.
No Man's Sky is an exploration, item collector game with a tragedy story. The main story of No Man's Sky was actually inspired by what happened to Hello Games during the first few years of development of the game. I don't know if it was intentional or by accident, but clearly their real life experiences trickled into the game. The story is about a simulation that is broken. A vast universe with endless possibilities, yet the Atlas, the god of the simulation is dying. Planets are anomalous, some creatures are anomalous, indeed the player iteration is also divergent. Fancy words, but they all mean: it's broken. The player iteration wants to help the Atlas fix the simulation, but they are unsuccessful because they can't reach the alien hardware the Atlas is running on. And in the end the iteration dies when the simulation resets once again. Nobody notices anything except the player. The Atlas will never be saved in game, no matter what you do. It's like if Notepad wanted to crawl out of Windows and onto your desk in real life. It's not possible. And every time you reset the simulation, your iteration is deleted and a new one is created. So, the story is a tragedy. Eventually, you're forced to accept defeat and hope you still got enough time left to retire and enjoy life before the universe crumbles.
Great summary! I’ve always felt a bit hopeful about it too though. Ultimately the reality of the situation is a tragedy but the idea of making the most of the time kinda gave me hope. Maybe I’m just weird though lol. Thanks for the comment and for watching :)
No Man's Sky for its fun gameplay loop and seamless exploration. I can do whatever I want when I want without being level gated by weird skill trees or restricted to some boring questline.
Starfield : Single player Exploration, Procedural generation and base building scaled down & but backed by fast combat filled with Blood, Gore, Enemy Screams + Magic powers - you will enjoy it if you love being a one man army like literally every other OP Bethesda protagonist. No Mans Sky : Multiplayer Exploration, Procedural generation and base building scaled up to the max but combat scaled down to kid mode. So an average consumer would prefer Starfield, while a hardcore sci-fi gamer would prefer No Man's Sky.
Very good summary! And much faster than my 24 minutes :D I do think that makes sense that Starfield is probably easier to get into for most gamers. Thanks for watching!
Honestly I was underwhelmed by the combat in Starfield. And there is barely any blood or gore even if you use a shotgun on someone's face. It felt toned down compared to Bethesda's other two franchises, The Elder Scrolls and Fallout.
Fantastic video. Thank you for your efforts! Exactly the comparison I was looking for. Comparing the 2 biggest space exploration games I would definitely choose NMS for obvious reasons. Are there any other big competitors to these 2 games worth mentioning? I mean games with the same elements and aspects (open world space, planets, survival, crafting, building, combat.. etc).
This was a really fun video! I got back into No Man's Sky with the Worlds update after not having played in several years so there's a lot I missed. And I just redownloaded Starfield today to take the buggy for a spin after beating the main story at launch. Talk about a tug of war for my time! Looking forward to seeing more of your videos!👍
So glad you liked the video and more importantly are enjoying both games :) the buggy is pretty sweet so far and the World Part 1 update is rocking my world! Totally with you, it’s getting real hard to choose what to actually sit down and play! Thanks for watching!
Interesting! Totally understand that. What do you find boring about NMS? Do you think it’s a story/character thing or just overall not interesting/fun to you?
My absolute favorite thing about Starfield is the AWESOME Ship Building and My most favorite thing about No Man's Sky is the SEAMLESS TRAVEL between planets and atmosphere. !!!
Difficult comparison, well done on it... I love them both, I have a lot of time in NMS, the Expeditions always draw me back, but I am still really enjoying Starfield... Good job on this vid. Thanks a lot.
Thanks so much! Really digging them both currently too. The expedition in NMS is fun and the new vehicle in Starfield is very exciting! Appreciate you watching.
One thing ive found extremely odd with starfield is how people commonly compare it to games that needed 3-6+ to get fixed. Cause in some way starfield needs some time to get fixed too, but unlike the others, its not givent the the same treatment by gamers This is probably the most fair comparison ive seen so far. Cause usually theyre veey irrational
It is really interesting! Starfield definitely feels like it was built with a long term future in mind which I’m excited for. There are some improvements/additions that Starfield needs but definitely don’t think it’s busted in its current state. Will be interesting to see how the conversation around Starfield evolves over time! Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts!
I think it’s more to do with the history and differences of the developers, Bethesda is a giant soo rightly people are pissed it was realised as it was and they are not know for repairing their games very well, on the other hand hello is very small is comparison and managed to do a 180 yeah people were pissed with NMS on launch but after a few updates people realised they were committed to fixing it something Bethesda knows very little on
Honestly, No mans skys long post release development did wonders for it, also being able to see the passion in it makes it extremely wonderful to play. Starfield, to me at least, lacks a soul, something to distinguish it and make it, it's own thing. I hope through DLC and updates they'll be able to make something of Starfield, but my hopes aren't too big on that front, especially with how they're pricing creation club stuff.
The creation club is a little concerning for sure. I am hopeful that there is some TLC here just like NMS. I love Starfield in its current form but it has so much more potential than just what it is today!
I love No Mans Sky, because it is about exploring and the limited amount of combat is what i love! I have over 3000 hours in it since it was releasd! No Mans Sky is just MineCraft in space for me! Those are the only 2 non turn based games i love!
Amazing! It’s so perfect for what it is in my opinion. Totally agree with what you’re saying. Interesting too that it’s one of the only non-turn based games you play!
Great comparison and video. This is the first time a reviewer has recognised the simple zen-joy of exploring fauna of a few planets after a busy work and home life. As you say very simple and repetitive...exactly what a tried Brains need at the end of a long complex irl day😊
I love both games for what they are. NMS clearly wins in the "seamless experience" category and just on sheer scale, but Starfield is FAR more realistic and has a far more flexible and enjoyable ship-building system. I am constantly blown away by the fact that the inside of your ship *exists* in the same space as outside. (yes, some things aren't rendered if you are viewing from the "other side," but they still occupy the same Euclidian space.
Yes, so cool when you idle and can see into your ship where you and the crew are. Awesome and immersive. Glad you like both games also, I think they complement each other well! Thanks for watching :)
The loading screens can be frustrating for sure but I find once you get used to playing you can actually avoid some of them and it starts to play more smoothly! Its probably not for everyone though which I understand :)
no mans sky was perfected with updates and to be honest starfield looks like they were overfocused on graphics not story and gameplay most of games today are all about graphics its hard to find a good game with compelling story and innovated gameplay
I love Starfield, for all the reasons you gave and more. Most importantly, I take the game for what it is, not what I think it should be. I bought NMS on launch day. Tried to give it a chance but it sucked. Bad. Forced Sony to give me a refund. I've tried it a couple of times since it's been on Game Pass. I haven't been grabbed by it. The cartoony, arcadey, Skittles-puke color palette turn me off. I'm probably too old for the game. I do believe there's something good in there and if I could get past being repulsed, I'd find the fun. I had no idea they added a story. Knowing that might keep me from quitting after 15 minutes. It took prodding for me to appreciate Minecraft's pixelated blockiness and I now think it's a top 10 all-time video game. Of course, it does use a natural color palette. If it also looked like NMS no amount of prodding would have worked. For now, if I want a sand box game it's Minecraft. If I want a space sim, it's Elite or maybe Star Citizen sometime in the 2030s. Starfield is neither of those things (space sim or sand box game). It's a big-assed Bethesda RPG set in space - with more side activities than any other from BGS. I sure hope Shattered Space adds substantially to the game.
Love what you’re saying about meeting a game where it’s at. I understand if people have sky high expectations but when the finished product is different than those expectations, you run the risk of missing out on something great if it’s not in alignment. Just my rambling at least! I think the cartoony aesthetic of NMS totally makes sense as a turn off. Honestly would be hard to push through if that’s a no go for you. But there is a really great game there past that! Although it sounds like you’ve already got a solid lineup for current sandbox, space sim, and giant space RPGs. I’ve never tried Elite Dangerous so I’ll add that to my list! Thanks so much for the thoughts and for watching!
Yeah, now that I think about it, no man's sky did make me feel real lonely but not in a hopeless sort of way more of a I can't wait to meet somebody to play with situation
If you want to explore, it is very hard, but you can actually explore all of starfield. While in no man’s sky, well, .0001% has been explored of the starting galaxy in no man’s sky. Combined with every single player. There’s 255 galaxies, 18 quintelion planets.
@@joshbryant7363 I have played NMS... You can go to any star you can see and land any of the planets.... Not to mention, you can actually cover the distance between any two points in the game.
I just got starfield and have played for about 14 hours so far. I also have over 200 hours in nms. Both games are fun for sure, the ground combat in sf is much smoother and better but i do prefer the space combat in nms. Yes it is more simplistic but less annoying when you are trying to manage all the systems. I have also really wished i could jump in my ship or call down a rover in sf when venturing off on a planet surface. I also like the atmosphere in nms, the abandoned freighters can be creepy but really cool.
Glad you’re enjoying/have enjoyed both games. I also have amazing news for you: Starfield just released an update today that added a rover for planetary exploration. Just tried it out tonight and it’s neat! Costs 25,000 units and the ship tech and you’re good to go! Thanks for watching :)
No man's sky by a mile, er, light-year. Only reason anyone should be playing Starfailed is because they are a shill. It's honestly on the verge of being amoral at this point to give it any praise at all.
lol, I appreciate where you’re coming from but I also unironically love Starfield. I haven’t ever been paid for saying that so if you know who I need to call to make that happen, let me know :D All jokes aside, thank you for watching and for the thoughts!
By far. Waaaaayyyyy too far, NMS is the freaking winner. It's not just a game, it's a Monalisa work or art for you to admire. And if someone disagrees hop on a ship and fly through the clouds of a paradise planet
I love both games and I do agree the loading screens can be boring but I don’t pay it any mind for Starfield but it’s still a great game to play for me. But people forget that No Man Sky has been out and Starfield just came out a years ago and having all these updates. Imagine how it would be in the future. In the end I get to enjoy both games lol.
I’m sorry, are you me? Is this my comparison of these games? I feel like we’re in almost complete accord. Though I would might quibble on giving the base building point to Starfield. As you say, NMS has an advantage because it’s mature, but as of now, there’s just so much more you can do in NMS creatively. Again, though, I 100% feel what you’re saying about the bases feeling lived in. That’s why I build my bases in NMS around towns and staff my terminals so that they feel like part of a community. Now, I’ve heard there’s a glitch you can use to actually integrate a Starfield base with a POI so I’ll have to report back on that. I also would’ve just barely landed on the other side of the vibes round. I love both, but Starfield really had me feeling like I was a space captain-the verisimilitude of the world just pulled me in. Dang, guess when I finish building my current city in NMS, I’m going to have to go try that rover in Starfield.
Hey! That’s pretty neat. Love hearing all of the different opinions from people but very cool to be in sync with someone lol. I could honestly go either way on vibes depending on the day but totally agree that space captain feel is so great in Starfield. Thanks so much for watching! Edit: and try out the rover! It’s a fun time so far :)
Just wanted to say, NMS is an incredible achievement, but I couldn’t personally get into it because it lacks certain RPG elements I need to feel connected to the character.
That’s a great way to put it. There can definitely feel like there’s a disconnect there which Starfield does a lot better in my opinion. Thanks for the thoughts and watching :)
I will say, by the time i learned who my character was in the lore of no mans sky it actually made me get mroe intot e roleplay, its a very good twist worth looking into!
I grew up with TES Arena & Morrowind....then as an adult I lost endless hours in Oblivion & Skyrim. For 20 years I dreamed of Elder Scrolls in Space. Then Starfeild dropped and an hour into the demo I knew it was one of the worst AAA games ever released. I have zero hope for The Elder Scrolls franchise going forward. That said, I choose neither option. Play Sins of a Solar Empire 2 instead.
Sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy Starfield but hopefully the next TES is awesome and a return to form. I haven’t heard of Sins of a Solar Empire but appreciate the reco! Will try to check out :) thanks for watching!
Light No Fire is a different game so I dont really get how you counted that for the Long Term Future plan. You might as well have included Elder Scrolls 6 in the Starfield future
Starfield and Elder Scrolls are pretty different in design/execution. Light No Fire looks like the fantasy skin of No Man’s Sky in my opinion. You make a fair point though but I do think there is a difference between NMS & Light No Fire vs Starfield & ES but also too early to tell so I’m with you there. Appreciate your thoughts and thanks for watching!
@@beepbooploot I hear you (but disagree). My main point though is that Light No Fire is a different game so shouldn't be included in the future of the game :)
Very fair perspective! I feel a fundamental similarity between the two in the fantasy they let me live out while playing both but also totally understand that moment to moment they feel pretty different!
I agree with most of your takes, but Starfield's story just killed the game for me. The game is an RPG with sandbox elements, not the other way around; the story NEEDS to be good, or at least passable, or the whole thing falls flat. And unfortunately I'd have to rank Starfield among the worst of Bethesda's stories. I can't see myself ever choosing it over their previous titles in the Elder Scrolls and Fallout series, even though Starfield has better gunplay and, arguably, graphics.
That’s a fair take for sure! Have you tried any of the faction quests in Starfield? I know it doesn’t make up for it, but the UC Vanguard quest in particular I feel is great and significantly better than the main quest. Just curious your thoughts on it! Thanks for watching!
I love both. Both have awesome exploration. I will have to say, To me, Starfield outpost (without mods) building is awwwwful. It is boring. Not enough creativity to build my house from the ground up.
Totally fair! I think it being so grounded hurts the creativity aspect of base building in Starfield. Maybe we will get more building options in future to make this more varied! Glad you like both games though and thanks for watching :)
NMS is the more obvious comparison with Starfield, but but there's plenty other games to choose that would make more sense to compare with Starfield. The truth is tha Bethesda tried to engage in a nich genre of game that they didn't have experience doing it the closest Bethesda has done before was Mothership Zeta dlc for F3, and you spent 99% of your time there inside of the spaceship fighting zetans. Bethesda ended up comming like an obsolete game compared with likes of Star Citizen, NMS, Elite Dangerous, X4 foundations and plenty others space sims. The worst part is that can't even claim to be a great ARPG game set in space, because theres plenty Mass Effect games to claim the best space arpg title. Starfield is a game of 2011 with graphics of 2021.
Appreciate the thoughts here! A lot of space game recos have come through on several of my videos so I’ll have to check those out. I’m open to my mind changing on this as I play some of these but right now I genuinely love Starfield. It’s a very perplexing thing because I totally understand all of the negative commentary/criticisms and I acknowledge them. But for me personally, they don’t outweigh the fun stuff. Again, though. Totally understand where you’re coming from and appreciate your thoughts here! Thanks for watching :)
I talk about this a bit in the video! NMS is more arcadey, but in my opinion feels a bit smoother. Starfield is very cool but can be a bit frustrating. I think I still like Starfield more because it feels like there’s more to do while fighting but both are good!
Starfield is full of bugs. The game crashes too often on my Xbox Series X, often slows down so I need to do a save and reboot, and I recently lost all my followers and had to reload a save causing me to lose hours of gameplay. I’ve been playing No Man’s Sky for years now and I’ve had zero issues. Bathesda use to be great but they suck now.
Not sure how you are playing but you can bypass the menus to travel in Starfield. You use your scanner. So let’s say you grab a mission that is go to planet and deal with some Zealots from Jamison. I walk to my ship from the cafe. I go to the gangplank, load into my ship nearly instantly. I walk through my ship, nap, go to the cockpit and jump in chair. I launch from planet. In space I wait a minute and pull up my scanner to highlight the mission waypoint. I grave jump to the planet. Likely have an encounter on arrival. Then tag to land at mission. Landing sequence, exit seat, walk out of ship. Massively immersive if you play it this way. And minimal loading screens.
Also add in a few rando space missions to traverse space and then to mission. This lets you use your ship. If you are having problems with space combat you have thruster lateral controls but need a skill point. Even so with let’s say the frontier weakeest. You boost into the fight at an angle and drop missile lock with boosts. Boost in and slide behind using the proper thrusting range. If you are getting hit boost out and try again. Boost can be cancelled by throttle down. Also note I play on PC but Starfield plays best with a controller. It’s very smooth. To me it’s the best ship combat in a space game in ages that has weight as well as boarding basically mini dungeons. Every ship you fight it potentially a mini dungeon to explore.
@@Antares-Dragon this is a great immersion tip! I honestly don’t mind the load screens that much but I do, generally speaking, prefer ship exploration in NMS. That’s not to say there aren’t great ship exploration moments in Starfield also! Thanks for watching :)
I enjoy them both. But if I had to pick one be starfield for me. Main issue with nms is u kinda lack purpose or don't really feel like u have a place in its world unlike starfield.
Good point! When I’m in the right mood, that aimlessness and lack of place in the world is exactly what I want. But totally understand not liking that as much and preferring the Starfield world experience!
I like both games, but I don't think you can really compare them, as you say NMS has 8 years of updates over starfield... if you compare year 1 of NMS vs year 1 of starfield, I think your scores will be the other way around. I didn't expect seamless landing etc in SF, so wasn't disappointed by that, which seems to have been one of the main gripes with people. At heart I'm more of an explorer and I found NMS planets all started to look the same, the same biome on the planet, really? where as starfield it's has several biomes on a planet. When they bring out land vehicles and full open planet (5k limit removed) it will be great to explore. For me. SF wins, and if BGS does updates for the next 8 years just like NMS, I think it will be much better.
That’s actually something I think is so great about Starfield: different biomes on the same planet. I know it’s interrupted but still, I dig it. Is that a confirmed detail that exploration will be getting broader on planet? Very good points made about the issue with comparing Y1 SF and Y8 NMS! Can’t wait to revisit this in Y8 of Starfield :) Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
@@beepbooploot > Is that a confirmed detail that exploration will be getting broader on planet?< I'm not 100% sure, but if they bring in land vehicles, then they really should extend the 5km area, otherwise what is the point of land vehicle you an "fly" it quite quick with a jet pack.
@@harag9 okay, yeah makes sense. I was thinking about that being a potential issue when I watched some of the vehicle footage. Hopefully they make the maps a lot bigger!
@@beepbooploot If they don't make them bigger with some streaming tech in there, and instead put in loading screens, then don't think people will be happy. But we will have to wait and see :)
Bethesda should feel bad about themselves that a small indie studio beat them so badly on a tech level. They have fallen sooooo far behind in the gaming industry. They use to make state of the art games but now their games feel generations behind. I was hyped for Starfield. I bought the pass to play early and took time off work. I just couldn't get myself to play it though. There just wasn't a hook. The entire experience felt disjointed and boring in comparison to their other games. The loading screens make this game a deal breaker. Its like they had a plan to make something seamless like No Mans Sky but couldn't execute it. This game should've been canceled.
That’s understandable! I mentioned this on another comment but I get a similar feeling while playing both. Like I’m living out the same space fantasy even though the games play differently. Thanks for watching!
@@beepbooploot , if I had to choose between the two, it would be Starfield. It's more focused, and I'm an RPG nerd. NMS is tons of fun, but I find it harder for me to focus on what I'm doing usually.
That would be a fairer comparison but I wanted to evaluate both as they are today to help decide which is right for different people. My main point is that they are both great but different in many ways! Thank you for watching :)
@@SBahamondes apples to apples it would be fairer to compare the year 1 state of both games! Practically speaking, it’s not very useful but yeah, that’s what I meant :)
Haters of Starfield claim Starfield is too large and full of nothingness. Then they praise No Mans Sky which is too large and full of nothingness. Exsploring and exsploring and exploring and just boring.
I think there might just be a difference in the way that emptiness is realized in both games. I like both of these vast universes but they due have some differences that make the end product feel different. But I do get what you mean and where you’re coming from!
unfortunately, starfield won't receive much funding in the future. It doesn't have the silver lining that cyberpunk had, as in, not nearly enough funds or profits to continue development. It lost tremendous amounts of money at launch and the current active player base is less than half that of no man's sky, an indie game that cost a fraction of a fraction to make and was released 8 years ago. Starfield is currently on life support, the only chance it has for a dlc is if it was in development before launch, no investor would look at the reception and player retention and agree with more of that.
Thousands of planet in no mansky..... repetitive, combat is arcade. You can't walk inside your ship... no animation getting in to the ship. Combat is boaring. Story suck no doubt about it. It's a game for the kids. I really wanted to like it... but it's to childish.
these two games are of different genre's. might as well throw starcraft in there because "space" also...lets compare release version of NMS shall we? lol
@@nonyabisness6306 I think it’s the overall fantasy both games fulfill that makes them similar to me! That would be interesting-comparing year 1 NMS to year 1 Starfield. I think they’re both awesome games currently though! But yeah, NMS in year 1 would probably do much worse here lol.
I’m probably a little bitter:) i did maybe half the main quest line but spent most of my time on the the side quests etc then the main broke for me and there was no fix other than starting again felt a bit burnt considering the price, I think the game has a lot of potential and I did enjoy your vid :)
@@mossy9756 totally understand! That’s rough but at least you got to the side quests which are arguably the best parts of the game :) thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed!
I don't think this comparison is fair. First both games are very different and are trying to accomplish different things. You say so yourself by saying Starfield is a theme park, and no man sky is a sandbox. Yet most of your comparisons or categories are sandbox driven. Naturally, No Man Sky would come out on top because of that. As an example, you list all the things that no man's sky has to do, which is far more than Starfield. But when you compare these elements, starfield is far deeper. Let's compare factions as an example. Take the corvax faction from no man sky versus the UC vanguard. In no man sky, it's all about doing randomly procedural tasks to watch a bar go up. Whereas in Starfield, it's a full-fledged questline with voice dialogue, combat, set pieces, dialogue choices, and it's far more than anything in no man's sky. Hence, the reason why people say no man's sky is as wide as an ocean but as deep as a puddle.
You make some good points! I guess my approach here was looking at the things I actually really like about both games and then putting those head to head. So for every category I talk about, I genuinely like (or love) it in both games regardless of who won the point. It’s definitely not a perfect comparison and there totally is an inherent flaw in trying to compare them but that was also kinda fun to try and work out. I do really love both games though so I hope that comes through regardless! Thanks for watching and appreciate the opinion/feedback :)
Let's put it like this. Other than Space this is a terrible comparison. If I wanted a Space sim, I'd play NMS...I don't. I play RPGs. What do they have in common? Space.
Interesting! They both give me the same fantasy fulfilment. Exploring space, solving mysteries of ancient civilizations, customizing/building an outpost and ship, surveying planets, harvesting resources, etc. I think there is a ton of overlap between these two, specifically in the areas I compared. But totally appreciate where you’re coming from also! Thank you for watching :)
Bonjour mon ami! Je pense que Mario Kart et Forza sont très bien mais pas la même chose. ^^Very sorry, I definitely butchered this but I wanted to try (and didn’t use a translator) But because they’re both fun in their own way, I wanted to compare them because they feel similar when playing (not in gameplay but in the fantasy you are living out while playing). Thank you for watching!
Does anybody actually care about either? Neither game lived up to its promise, no one seems to care that they keep trying to fix No Mans Sky and few were surprised that Starfield was a mess.
Fair point! I get a very similar feeling when playing, not at all from the actual moment to moment gameplay but from the fantasy I’m living out while playing. Exploring uncharted worlds, building a home in space, solving mysteries of the ancient civilizations. That’s sorta where I’m coming from but appreciate your opinion and thanks for watching :)
@@blickedxb I love both games so I am a fanboy of both! Is there something I was dishonest about in the video? I am actually asking because I want to provide the best info I can about the games I cover. Thank you for watching!
If you're going to compare Starfield with No Man's Sky you might as well compare No Man's Sky with Red Dead Redemption 2. It's as ridiculous a comparison. Starfield is an open world RPG, No Man's Sky is a survival exploration game. Starfield was developed by a triple A studio on a huge budget, No Man's Sky was developed by an indie studio with a tiny budget. Comparing them as if they're comparable games is like comparing a Formula 1 car to a Mini Cooper S simply because they're both automobiles.
Hmm…I do think NMS and Starfield share more DNA than with RDR 2. My main driver for comparing these two is that they both fulfill a very similar fantasy of exploring a huge universe in a spaceship, solving mysteries of ancient civilizations, and building a home in the stars. Moment to moment gameplay is definitely different across these two games but that space exploration feeling is very consistent in my opinion! Still, I understand where you’re coming from and thanks for commenting :)
After eight years of free updates to NMS, Hello Games can basically just take my money."
This is EXACTLY how I feel, and have said as much to a few friends!
Exactly one time before I knew it I had like 60 stacks of chlorine ready to sell
It blows my mind how time slips by while playing NMS. There’s always one more thing to grind or one more planet to peek at. Really great, addictive loop. And it feels even better because there is always something else you could do, but never anything you have to do. Thanks for watching!!
NMS +X4 foundations mixture both games and see the magic happens.
A space phone would be so great to minimize load times. Totally agree with you. Thanks for watching!!
You are trying to use a method of transportation for a method of communication without actually transporting a medium that carries the information.
@@beepbooploot It's like real life. Best not to think about where we'll all end up. It's the journey that matters!
No Man's Sky for its fun gameplay loop and seamless exploration. I can do whatever I want when I want without being level gated by weird skill trees or restricted to some boring questline.
Nice! I love both games but understand your perspective here. Thanks for watching!
Your hardcore sci fi gamers are busy with Stellaris and Sins of a Solar Empire 2....not these FPS games. :)
For me starfield! I like nms but it’s kinda boring!
Cause in some way starfield needs some time to get fixed too, but unlike the others, its not givent the the same treatment by gamers
This is probably the most fair comparison ive seen so far.
Well, they can't get rid of the loading screens with any amount of time and I doubt BGS will support the game as long as Hello Games did for NMS
@@pawanreddy7456 They last like a second. It's not a sim, lot's of other games also have load screens that last more but everyone's just fine with it.
I think it’s more to do with the history and differences of the developers, Bethesda is a giant soo rightly people are pissed it was realised as it was and they are not know for repairing their games very well, on the other hand hello is very small is comparison and managed to do a 180 yeah people were pissed with NMS on launch but after a few updates people realised they were committed to fixing it something Bethesda knows very little on
@@pawanreddy7456 Bethesda has a longer history of supporting their games....
As you say very simple and repetitive...exactly what a tried Brains need at the end of a long complex irl day😊
Totally! So meditative and relaxing, especially at the end of the day.
Starfield is a loading screen simulator from what ive seen
The loading screens can be frustrating for sure but I find once you get used to playing you can actually avoid some of them and it starts to play more smoothly! Its probably not for everyone though which I understand :)
They literally take like 2 seconds lol
People love to complain on the internet
no mans sky was perfected with updates and to be honest starfield looks like they were overfocused on graphics not story and gameplay most of games today are all about graphics its hard to find a good game with compelling story and innovated gameplay
Totally agree! No Man’s Sky is crazy good and just about perfect in its current state. Thanks for watching :)
Love them both
Awesome, I’m with you on that :)
Me personally like Starfield more, because i am big Skyrim fan, and for me is the closest to it.
There is no battle between the two. NMS has been around for ages and has solid game play that starfield just doesn't have.
Appreciate your opinion here! NMS is definitely an awesome game and glad you like it. Thanks for watching :)
I agree with you and should have specified it’s not a bad lonely at all. Good point and thanks for watching!

Nice! I definitely love it too!!
If you want to explore, it is very hard, but you can actually explore all of starfield. While in no man’s sky, well, .0001% has been explored of the starting galaxy in no man’s sky. Combined with every single player. There’s 255 galaxies, 18 quintelion planets.
Honestly still mind boggling how big NMS is. Crazy!!
Now this is what I simply can’t grasp. I have never played either. How is this even possible?

You can now fish in no man's sky
And fishing I have been! Loving the update so far. Can’t keep up with everything haha!
Wonder what the comparisons will be like when both stop being updated.
That is an excellent question. See ya in 8 years I guess ;) thanks for watching!
Totally agree! It’s awesome to have both of these games at the same time and I’m super excited to see how Starfield evolves over time :)

🤔 Starfield has the best loading screens and invisible walls.
Are there invisible walls? I have 200+ hours and never run into this except when I tested out the rover and intentionally went to the edge of the map!
I like for different reasons as they are both VERY different games
Very fair perspective! I feel a fundamental similarity between the two in the fantasy they let me live out while playing both but also totally understand that moment to moment they feel pretty different!
I think no mans sky has a better redemption arc than anything bethesda will ever do, but I love them both.
I think I’d have to agree with you on that. But yes, love them both!! Thanks for watching!
Which is better for space battles?
I talk about this a bit in the video! NMS is more arcadey, but in my opinion feels a bit smoother. Starfield is very cool but can be a bit frustrating. I think I still like Starfield more because it feels like there’s more to do while fighting but both are good!
You are not MY referee!
😂
NMS ftw
Love NMS. Can’t blame you for that!

Loving the new expedition also. Glad you are enjoying :) thanks for watching!
shouldn't it be, Eve Online or Elite Dangerous vs star Citizen?
Hmm, that sounds like another great idea for a comparison video!!
@@beepbooploot for sure! I do like the sandbox nature of nms. But I do have to be in mood for it. Both great games!

Empyrion: Galactic Survival beats both.
Oooh, cool. I haven’t tried it so I will add to my list!
Can’t wait to revisit this in Y8 of Starfield :)
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
@@beepbooploot > Is that a confirmed detail that exploration will be getting broader on planet?<
I'm not 100% sure, but if they bring in land vehicles, then they really should extend the 5km area, otherwise what is the point of land vehicle you an "fly" it quite quick with a jet pack.
@@harag9 okay, yeah makes sense. I was thinking about that being a potential issue when I watched some of the vehicle footage. Hopefully they make the maps a lot bigger!

Great quote! I love both games so this was more for fun than anything else :)
Sorry to hear you didn’t like it. Totally fair if you felt it wasn’t up to snuff. Thanks for watching!

I don't find these games comparable at all. They're two different experiences

Starfield asks for more money for what is essentially paid mods.
NMS wins easily
Hard to compete with the NMS update model for sure!
Dang! Fair points here. I hope that Shattered Space turns things around then :) thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts!
Thousands of planet in no mansky..... repetitive, combat is arcade. You can't walk inside your ship... no animation getting in to the ship. Combat is boaring. Story suck no doubt about it. It's a game for the kids. I really wanted to like it... but it's to childish.
Hey! Totally fair criticisms and appreciate your perspective. Thanks for sharing and for watching :)
these two games are of different genre's.
might as well throw starcraft in there because "space"
also...lets compare release version of NMS shall we?
Maybe if you compare them both at their respective launch’s but in 2024? Get out of here..
Fair enough! Just wanted to compare two of my favourite games as they are in their current states :)
It’s Starfield for me!
Love it!!
Your standards are low.
@@Raymond-v5t Yes, user-br7vw1ym8x, my standards are low. Lol
Thank you for watching :)
tu compare Mariokart (no man's sky) a Forza horizon 5 (starfield)... ca n'a pas de sens!
Bonjour mon ami! Je pense que Mario Kart et Forza sont très bien mais pas la même chose.
^^Very sorry, I definitely butchered this but I wanted to try (and didn’t use a translator)
But because they’re both fun in their own way, I wanted to compare them because they feel similar when playing (not in gameplay but in the fantasy you are living out while playing).
Thank you for watching!
@@beepbooploot bah pourtant tu compare No man's sky a Starfield...qui eux non plus n'ont rien a voir.
Does anybody actually care about either? Neither game lived up to its promise, no one seems to care that they keep trying to fix No Mans Sky and few were surprised that Starfield was a mess.
lol, I definitely care about both but I think it’s totally fair if you don’t like or care about these games. Appreciate you stopping by either way :)
They’re not remotely close to each other, and I like both games.
They’re both space games. That’s alike imo
@@lunatoon4597 Baldurs Gate 3, The Witcher, and Mass Effect are all RPGs. They’re not remotely similar either.
I have the answer ... both are terrible boring.
Appreciate your opinion! I love both games but understand if they’re not for you :) thanks for watching!
You just don't like space games
Not even the same kind of game and only a dishonest fanboy would pretend they are...
I'm sorry I didn't realize it was the biggest space game battle. WTF are you talking about bro? No one is talking about this except you.
Are you lost? Completely new to TH-cam?
I enjoyed making this but appreciate if it’s not for you. Different strokes for different folks :)
Other than Starfield shipbuilding i see no point to the game, NMS all the way.
Starfield Shipbuilding is definitely a standout! Glad you enjoy NMS :) thanks for watching!
They're both crappy games, nobody's asking that and why is this in my feed
Appreciate your opinion! Thanks for watching!
You lost me at giving Starfield any points. Starfield is a trash game all over.
I’m sorry I lost you at that! I genuinely enjoy Starfield but appreciate your opinion here too :)
Sure... The combat in Starfield is worst than No Man Sky. Try to be objective.
Uninstall both and play Star Citizen instead
I will check out Star Citizen at some point for sure! Thanks for watching :)
