    This must be the most stunning Typhoon I've ever seen of any scale. Stunning work mate, the weathering and accentuation of the panel lines is perhaps my favourite part of the build. Wish the 1/48 kits marked the rivets on the wings as in this kit.

    Great looking finish but do feel the weathering a bit over done. Typically typhoons are generally cleanish. Looks like it belongs in the USAF rather than the RAF
    Nonetheless…. Great finish and nice display piece 👍

    I've worked on Typhoon for a few years now, since 2004, during the type's introduction to RAF service. Just my tuppence worth. The highlighting of the panel lines and rivets is over emphasised, military aircraft are not as flush and airstreamed as you might imagine when you view them close up, the gaps are there but not as noticeable as on this model. The soot deposits from the APU are spot on though. I've loaded a few ALARM missiles to another platform, ALARM was intended to be incorporated to Typhoon but it was withdrawn from service before this happened. The national insignia on the LH side of the fin is incorrect, the (subdued) red should be ahead of the blue. The AMRAAM/ Meteor missiles (sorry, did not scroll back through the video to check which ones) could never be fitted to the rear stations only, as the aircraft systems would prevent entry to FRS and therefore takeoff due to mass imbalance. Flight Resident Software does not like imbalance! Lastly, it's an ejection seat, Martin Baker type 16, not an ejector seat, anyone using the term ejector seat should be strung up by their own gizzards IMHO.

    Considering the limitations of the kit the result is astonishingly good. I am impressed by how little masking you do.... It's almost a cavalier approach to painting, regardless the finished aircraft is truly outstanding.

    You are a brave man. I got scared off by this kit when I heard how much of a pain it really is. I opted for the Revell typhoon instead, with extras, of course. She turned out really nice, a little more weathered than normal it would appear. Really cool idea with the afterburners masking the screws.

      Thanks Ian, and sorry to hear that. Any of the more recent Airfix starter kits are great fun, and not too challenging, plus they come with decent enough paints and glue to get you going. Or if you fancy a tank, pretty much any Tamiya kit will be a trouble free build. Particularly to start with, their older 1/35 Panzer II is cheap, easy to build and fun to paint & weather.

    • @ianslee8968
      @ianslee8968 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s great, thanks for your comeback. I’ll do those things, also the vids and presentations are great for ‘behind the scenes’ tips. The way to pick out seams in the metal and how to show exhaust dirt from the jet engines is fantastic. I’ll be going with a 1/32 harrier jump jet. Should be interesting. When I’m finished I’ll put it here to see who likes or dislikes, hints and tips ect. The air that’s used in this presentation I’ll be getting. Not harbouring anything good but it’ll be a good learning curve. Any suggestions where to get them? Mail order would be best. Don’t go out much anymore. Cheers fella. 👍😆

      @davidcole333 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just picked up the hobby again after a 30 year hiatus. I'm now on my 5th kit. My suggestion would be a WWII Tamiya 1/48 aircraft or some of the smaller 1/72 Airfix kits. I'm currently working on Academy's 1/35 AH-1Z helicopter and having a great time. Invest in good tools and have fun!

    • @ZicajosProductions
      @ZicajosProductions 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ianslee8968 if you’re able to find a nearby hobby store like a HobbyTown, they have a LOT of kits, a great place to get a look at a vast selection of models and find something you think you’d like. Places like Hobby Lobby and even Michael’s also tend to carry several aircraft, car, and tank kits, albeit a smaller selection. All of these places will offer most of what you need. To me it’s a more fulfilling experience to make a trip out of it and bringing a plastic bird home rather than having to buy something online. At the end of the day, whatever is more convenient for you!

    • @EchoRangeModels
      @EchoRangeModels  23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Richard, essentially the underlying paint finish will dictate how the wash behaves. I applied a gloss varnish as 1) this makes it easier to wipe a majority of the wash away, just leaving it in panel lines, and 2) it also protects the decals and underlying paint from the quite harsh method of rubbing the wash off. If the wash is applied over a matt surface then it's much harder to remove, but this does mean you end up with a dirtier effect, so it's down to how you want your model to look really.
