  • In this episode I am leaving Etosha Heights and I am riding to Grootfontein for some logistical things. Savannah needs some new tires and after quite a mission to find the motorcycle shop, they lend me a quad to ride around while they change my tyres. Who am I to say no to that!!

The Itchy Boots Video game: You have to find the right guy at the right gas station that knows where the gym with son of the moto shop owner is working out is, to get him to call and send a red quad to bring you into get your new tires. Next level unlocked!

Then when you get to the workshop in the middle of nowhere, the man says, "Here's a quad. Go play on that, have a safari, while we work on your bike." You couldn't make it up!

Except in the version of the game I am usually stuck in, in order to get my tires I first have to pick up their dry cleaning. The dry cleaner will only give me their dry cleaning if I pick up his mail, etc. By the end of which you have your new tires and every one in the county has had you do something for them. ROFL

I lived in a small town in east Afrika 5 years and this is how it is there to, nice people ( exept very rarely and then it is seriously dangerous! ) who are welkoming and helpfull, stunning nature and surprises most days. Powerty. Noraly has the right attitude so she get a good back. I hope to go back permanently in a couple of years instead of only wisiting for a couple of month now and then. A warning: Afrika is not everybodys cup of thea!

Please let me start by saying that I love you with all my heart. My absolute favorite thing about your adventures is when you turn the ignition switch on and hit the start button, hearing the engine burst instantly to life is simply glorious. I feel giddy in sync with the engine's playful happiness. Sad thing: as a long time truck driver, I spent a lot of miles living in my rearview mirrors. Then I see the absurdity of yours, all moogly-googly pointed in every direction except where they're meant to be aimed. That drives me NUTS! I can't count the number of times I wanted to reach into my computer screen to straighten them out. Be that as it may, I couldn't love you more if you were dipped in chocolate.

New light bulbs are carried in the light housing. Always carry a siphoned tube for gas. This is what adventure riding is all about. Doing good, enjoy your adventure.

When they took the rear tire off her bike, it was straight across where the tread is, just like a car tire. They call putting a car tire on a bike "Going to the Darkside". I've read, " People who haven't tried it say you'll crash and die. People who've tried it say they'll never go back to motorcycle rear tires, and that cornering isn't a problem." Car tires are cheaper, last longer, and give you a bigger contact patch for superior accelerating and braking. I'm in the process of putting a car tire on my Honda Shadow Sabre 1100cc.

My neighbor had a quad. He told me they are quite tricky: if you look to the right or left while driving it’s very easy deviate in that direction. He drove almost daily along side a canal and a year later it happened: he looked to the right and a second later he was in that canal. Oh dear…

Seemed simpler than here in the states to have the tires changed. Then again more bikes and not always the right tires so if we take what they have maybe? Cool that they have a ATV for you to play with while waiting, great people.

Hou vol Noraly blijf genieten. ;-) ;-) Stay safe.

If lions were roaring outside my window, i wouldn't even peek out from under the covers! And notice how Noraly attracts a crowd while covering 300k. 😁

Love the 1982 or so Honda XR500R that the Bike Shop was working on. There were hundreds of these used in the Angola bush war of the 1980s.

So nice of them to give you transport....but I HATE quads ! If you flip forward or backward, it falls on you....if you fall sideways, it falls on you !! Hateful things ...and don't put your foot out while cornering !!!! Lovely series....I don't miss one of them !!!

Dear Noraly. Nice to see you on the gravel roads again. I LOVE you talking sweetly to Savannah, a little crazy thing I do myself (to my Honda). Even waiting time, you get turned into a little excursion - how glorious. You will obviously be leaving Namibia, so I will wait, excited - on your next routes. As always; Best regards from Denmark 🇩🇰
