Mark Trammell and Danny Funderburke are two of the most powerful gospel singers I have ever heard and when they get together with the cathedrals it is absolutely powerful
I have sang this song for a lot of years, But man what a Great job they do singing this. Glory be to god. He loved us that much. After all that he had been thur, He still love us to were we would not have to live in sin. But Be Free and have life. Thank you Lord>
This song makes me cry because of the sins Jesus Christ took on himself for me and all of humanity for that matter. I can never be eternally grateful enough to you Lord that as this beautiful song says you didn’t come down from that cross.
The Spanish version of the song was written by me and Mierreau Diego. Again the copyright was stolen by Topic and the wording was changed. Mr. Diego taught me both languages when my family lived in Michigan in 1970- 1971.
Love this song. Such a blessing! Thank you Jesus Christ that you forbear all the pain, suffering, and humiliation, and died on the cross for our sins. Thank you Lord.
An interesting note to this video: Mark was not saved until 1988. This was recorded before then. Be sure you know that you know that you know you're born again! Don't think so, hope so, or maybe so. KNOW SO!
He Didn't Come Down was written for the Papal crusade which Pope John Paul II held in Sochje, Albania. The first verse was written in Croatian. The chorus was written in Bosnian. The second verse was written in Greek. The second chorus was translated into Kosovian. The next chorus was written in Slovenian with a descant in Yugoslavian Creole. The ending is in Albanian with a descant in Herzigova.
I am upset that someone wants to suppress this song. It was written for the Papal crusade in Sochje, Yugoslavia which was held by Pope John Paul II in 1989. I had the privilege of going with The Pope as a language translator on His trip down the Danube River and through the Balkan Peninsula. This was the final crusade of that trip. And the song He Didn't Come Down was the theme for that crusade.
Well, EmperorMaxi, you`re very strict. But what a group!! Admire the old Cathedrals. What a sound! What a precision! What a spirit! Agree with Arizona Paul below, about the tenors.
This is probably kind of off-topic and I do apologize, but George is displaying a very wide range chair vocally, and he is doing quite well. He takes on the lead at least twice in this song.
@16firefly16 I agree. I had the privilege of meeting him several years ago in Spruce Pine NC. I told him then that I'd rather hear him sing than anybody. I don't know if he believed me or not but I meant it then, and still say that today.

Danny is the best ever to sing tenor for the Cathedrals. What a group.
What a true song. Thank you Lord Jesus, that you didn't come down, but went all the way to Death to rise again that I don't need to die 'twice'.

The Cathedrals have always been blessed with great tenors to go along with George
and Glen. Danny, Roy, Kirk and Ernie just to name some of the best.
I personally like the lineups with Kirk.
don´t forget Mack
Glen Payne said that Mark was the best "quartet man" he ever worked with.
best version of the best song!!

Most uplifting message.

Svein02 The fact that Trammell wasn't saved was his own testimony.
Why strict? What about sharing Mark's testimony or saying we need to be born again is considered "strict?"
Like others I hadn't heard this song before but will try and find it to download and have added it to my favorites
Love it
Mr smooth himself
