i loved doomsday clock and this story gave me hope and love especially if you are a huge superman fan myself included and it breaks my heart that dan didio had to ruin everything with his awful 5g garbage that's coming out this year.
Matt Garcia 5G is an upcoming era in the DC Timeline. 5G is the era where the younger generation will take over the mantle of the main characters such as Jon Kent taking over the mantle of Superman. 5G is very controversial to most of the comic book community because of how it’s downgrading characters (such as Superman and his family cause of Brian Bendis), how it’s changing continuity, and the selection for some of young heroes to take over the mantle of the significant heroes isn’t liked (Such as a rumor that Lucas Fox will take over the mantle of Batman instead of the past Robins. Honestly in my opinion Lucas needs more character development, focus, and good writing to have readers believe he is worthy of the mantle of Batman if it’s true he’s taking over) I highly suggest looking into more about it to have your own opinion
Rebirth Superman was arguably the best comic from Rebirth and AC started off slow but definitely found its footing. Dan Didiot really ruined everything Superman.
Cactus Black I agree rebirth Superman and rebirth action comics was fantastic and really breaks my heart to see bendis destroy everything and ruining the Superman family for his awful legion of Superheroes.
It’s so much nicer when Superman can be relatable. When he is sad or angry or happy. Has joy but also struggles yet no matter the adversity he faces, he still tries to do the right thing.
This is one of the most inspiring or not the "MOST" inspiring issue I have ever read my entire life. I literally have goosebumps and tears in my eyes man!! HAIL SUPERMAN!!! HAIL Geoff Johns !!!
Superman was raised as a human being; feels emotions as a human being; understands the human condition and empathizes as a human being. Even though Dr Manhattan was human before, one would never know it by looking at him. His powers distance him from the human condition or human understanding. Dr M has forgotten his humanity and the pain and joy that go come with that package. Superman reminds Dr M of what he lost in the nuclear explosion.

Stories like this is why i laugh when people say comic books are for kids. I am 35, and although in the past 9-10 years i haven´t read many comics due to monetary reasons, in all the years i have read them, i have learned more from them than from alot of people i know.
@@ComicBookGuy420 That´so cool. Same thing happened to me with movies and english. Weirdly and inexplicably, at around 4-5 years old, i knew how to speak english before i knew how to write and read in my own language(Portuguese), because my father would buy the guy at the bar in the movie theater(he sold the tickets) a beer or two and he would let me in to watch pg12 movies like the Bruce Lee, Arnold, Stallone, etc ones. So everytime the "ticket man" came in(back then it was like transportation, a guy would come in to make a hole on your paper ticket) my father would tell me to hide below the seat until he went away. That sinister 6 story is pretty cool as well.

Whenever I write, or at least think about writing, for comics, or for an outline for a let's say XMEN show that I wished i could get to a TV channel and funded, anything with fantasy, scifi, comics... I always wind up with the main character having to choose between saving himself or somehow eradicating his existence for the sake of everyone else, or loved ones... I like that nobility, that outward thinking of others, that power of love that makes people crazy or selfless to a point where they sometimes have to choose between their own lives and the life of the world for their family... we all say "oh I'd die for my wife or my best friend or my father..." but when push comes to shove, will someone REALLY give their own life for someone? Or for the human race? I'd like to think that somewhere out there, perhaps more than I believe truly exists, is the power of love or for hope for the well being of others, that someone would literally give their life for that....its a choice I hope no one ever has to truly make in their lives.... but I'm fascinated If I read or watch something like that, and I'm spellbound and mesmerized when I read or hear about a REAL LIFE situation like that
Old School Uncensored when I first heard fox was doing an XMEN show, I instantly let my mind run wild and thought of an ACTUAL X-men show... not LEGION lol... and I wrote out 5 seasons worth of I think 13 episodes with the last season being a mix of days of futures past AND dark Phoenix... and cable has to go back in time and realize that the only way to ever stop destruction either from the sentinels or from Jean grey, is to kill her before she ever gets imbued with the Phoenix force, thus having to destroy his very own existence ... and I ended the series In an extremely ambiguous way... basically seeing her in his cross hairs, a loud blast, and u just see the gun fall to the floor and his feet start to... disappear? Or walk away... did he do it and save humanity AND mutantkind, or did he say NO I CANT KILL MY MOTHER AND MYSELF, and aborted his mission..??? I showed it to a few people, people who aren’t even into X-men/comics, and most of em all liked it... but then I realized that my show would’ve cost more than like DOUBLE every episode of GAME OF THRONES and it would never be made, even if fox picked it up or something somehow lol
@@masterrserch3971 I've learned not to get attached to fox shows They cancel the good ones I enjoy writing myself, but I don't try to get it published Happy to just write little scenes here and there that I think are missing from the movies or comics Such as between Avengers age of Ultron and Black Panther I wrote a short story on how Ulysses Klau got his arm cannon/prosthetic arm I also write our groups D&D campaigns🤓

So much effort to recenter DC comics with Doomsday clock, and it's going to be completely wasted if the 5G rumors are true. Forget the characters and just check as many boxes as you can.
Matt Garcia something along the lines of replacing the main cast of dc with more diverse versions of them which would probably leave a bad taste to people that care so much about the originals

Superman is very relatable, take away the god like powers….he works a regular 9-5, he was raised as a middle class (maybe upper middle class) child in a small town, he graduated high school and college and then moved to the big city to pursue a career, he worries about how he’s going to introduce his girlfriend to his parents, before he got lois he always stumbled around women he liked, he has to work to pay rent and utility bills, etc. other than the god like powers he’s just like any one of us

I need to disagree with Erin in the point where he seas that Superman can’t be relatable Superman before anything he is a Smallville kid. Clark is a shy but good person. That is really bad to talk to girls and great at writing. Clark is a North Star because he understands us, he is part of us. He grew in a farm and start to now that he was an alien when he was teen. I agree with them, I just watched comicstorian’s full story video on it and I don’t think I’ve ever been so effected by a story quite like this. It actually as I kept thinking about it made me emotional, happy, and inspired, which is the craziest part. This made me want to check out western comics again after falling off around a couple years ago. The only other comic book that really really impacted me was invincible which is my favorite superhero comic period, as far as western comics go but this one hit a core in me with how it just slam dunked that ending after all that set up. And did it beautifully, I think this is definitely one of my favorite like top 5 favorite DC stories of all time he’ll probably top 3 or 2.
I really liked the ending of Doomsday Clock. Doctor Manhattan a man who has the power of a god who's also disconnected from humanity, finally seeing the error of his ways by Superman, The Hope, & the god among humanity.
@@kodiak138 Pretty much Dr. Manhattan saw into the future and said that in a secret crisis, superman would fight Thor and a green beast stronger than Doomsday.
Wow, now I want to pick up this book. I completely agree that it's fine to have relatable heroes, but we also need symbols to look up to. That's why He-Man and She-Ra are my favourite Superheroes. They represent the best of Men and Women and what they can accomplish when they work together.
The PR is that Dr, Manhattan is not human but he is very human. His need to control everything and, like every other comic book villain, wants to create his own universe to "get it right". Insufferably human.
My only issue is that I felt many watchmen characters ended up as side characters for superman. Its s great superman story but I would rather have had a straight up watchmen story
Superman has many classic stories. It's all about the character. Don't believe the BS people say about him who don't even read his books let alone comics that can change your perspective or scare you away from him. There's a reason why he's lasted so long. Let me recommend you some stories to check out. Birthright, American Alien, Red Son, All Star Superman, Kingdom Come, For All Seasons, Secret Identity, Peace On Earth, For the Man Who Has Everything (you can even see this story in the Justice League cartoon), Whatever Happened to Truth Justice and the American Way (but you'll have a better chance seeing the animated movie "Superman vs The Elite" for that story. That book is no longer being published), etc.... Not my intentions for this being so long so forgive me but I hope this helps to give you (or anyone else on this comment) somewhere to start.
Wow I am so glad I clicked on this . As far as doc being inspired by supes . Somehow it seems Manhattan is adolescent yet like superman is always humbled . This makes me want to go find this comic bad !!!
I can agree to this, but the fact that It took so damn long for Geoff Johns to complete the story, let alone how unnecessary long it was to tell us something that is important, yet simple. It could've have been 6 issues instead of twelve and didn't have to be a slow burn. Still agree though.
(Sigh) it's an inspiration story and superman will always be my favorite fourth superhero aside from my other heroes, but let's be real here, we all know that darkness will continue to engulf mother earth until The 'Light' fends that darkness away and allow mother earth to once shine her light. To quote 'Light there be light'
What's up? Is it true that after the "doomsday clock", the pre-crisis versions of the characters merged with the post-crisis versions, are they canonical now?

One of my favorite panels in the comic is when the Kents are talking about how Superman will be fine at the prom since he hasn't been "hurt" before, but you can see the pain in his face of feeling like he is out of place when he just wants to be like everyone else.
@@saborescriollos5602 Same, not going to lie either.
@@TheRedCap30 That's exactly what I meant when I mentioned Superman facing internal struggles, people think he's a boring perfect man but that's outward image he presents to be a source of inspiration. He has insecurities and feels uncomfort at times like all of us. That panel was a perfect illustration of that.
I would love to see Dc adapt Doomday Clock and Injustice animated movies!
With the original Watchmen Cast
Yes sir
They will eventually. id love to see it also.
I'd like to see those in animated movies and No Mans Land,
Injustice is happening!
Arris, Tim, this was an amazing section of your latest podcast and I couldn't agree more with you both! we need more meaningful and positive storytelling nowadays that inspire us all to strive to be better! thank you guys you both rock!
And Superman being a father to his own son, Jonathan Kent also makes him more relatable to both old & new readers.
Which is why fans are rightfully infuriated AF with Bendis ageing him up.
I wish they'll make a story where Jonathan Kent will be de-aged.
@@sergeantdogmeat2270 We can only hope... 😑

I noticed no one mentions the bit that DC wrote that Marvel's Hulk dies in service of protecting DC's Superman lol
Nerwrax15 he is immortal hulk so he’ll come back
@@deltaprime3509 sure, but why would you definitely put any character from the other company in that kind of position before any agreements were made? Just seems like poor sportsmanship before any ink has dried(of course this is under the belief that this becomes a real crossover, if this is simply a homage then thats fine, Marvel and DC be killing each other's counterparts all the time lol)
Nerwrax15 well deals like a crossover are done months or maybe even a year in advance, with both of them teasing a crossover than they probably have a deal already and are collaborating and setting it up

Don't worry that shit won't last. Let's not forget about "Marvel Now."
I think I’ve missed news what’s 5G
@@spencerchuong1510 That doesn't sound really good.
I honestly prefer Young Justice
Wrestling Anime 4life If you referring to the show, good LOL. Young Justice in comics is a bit bad cause of Bendis, who brought the idea back

Rebirth Superman was arguably the best comic from Rebirth and AC started off slow but definitely found its footing. Dan Didiot really ruined everything Superman.

It’s so much nicer when Superman can be relatable. When he is sad or angry or happy. Has joy but also struggles yet no matter the adversity he faces, he still tries to do the right thing.
This is one of the most inspiring or not the "MOST" inspiring issue I have ever read my entire life.

Doomsday Clock is the greatest masterpiece since Crisis of Infinite Earths! Marvelous piece of a extraordinary origin of Superman! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Cuda Mopar they are both great characters in their own right
Thank you Variant. This is why Superman is my all time favorite Superhero!
I definitely love this story for what it says about Superman.
This ain't only one of the best Superman stories, but one of the best DC stories, and that's because it delivered the ultimate thing fans have been dying for, the justice league meets the watchmen
Stories like this is why i laugh when people say comic books are for kids. I am 35, and although in the past 9-10 years i haven´t read many comics due to monetary reasons, in all the years i have read them, i have learned more from them than from alot of people i know.
Spiderman not only taught me Morality, it taught me how to read (sinister 6 version 2.0)

I'd like to think that somewhere out there, perhaps more than I believe truly exists, is the power of love or for hope for the well being of others, that someone would literally give their life for that....its a choice I hope no one ever has to truly make in their lives.... but I'm fascinated If I read or watch something like that, and I'm spellbound and mesmerized when I read or hear about a REAL LIFE situation like that
One of the reasons I enjoyed Legends of Tomorrow's first season was one of the characters did that exact choice

Doomsday Clock. This is why I say the DCEU should've began with Watchmen. Doomsday Clock would be the endgame of the DCEU. And tbh, in my eyes, the DCEU should've basically been The New 52/DC Rebirth timeline with some tweaks made of course. And yes, Geoff Johns would/should've been the man in charge of the DCEU from the start!
There is no way Doomsday Clock was in Geoff John's head in 2013.
@@Nerwrax15 That's a good thing. With the DCEU First Wave already planned out from 2009-2017, time would eventually come where the idea of Doomsday Clock would come to him.
While I would like to see the Snyder Cut as well, what I really hate about some of its supporters is how they trash Geoff Johns, blaming him for the JL movies and acting like Zack Snyder understood or contributed even a tenth of what he did. Geoff should lead DC's future again.
@@rcbmmines4579 Agree 100%. If Geoff Johns was in charge from the very start, I guarantee you, that Justice League movie would've been VERY much different from what we got. It would've basically been an detailed extension of his Justice League: Origin storyline.

So much effort to recenter DC comics with Doomsday clock, and it's going to be completely wasted if the 5G rumors are true.
Forget the characters and just check as many boxes as you can.
No Guard I think I missed some info, what are the 5g rumors?
Matt Garcia something along the lines of replacing the main cast of dc with more diverse versions of them which would probably leave a bad taste to people that care so much about the originals
I think rewriting it would be good. Because you have opportunity to bring them back. Come back story.
Doomsday Clock mentioned 5G in the end. The point was that no matter what happens, no matter how the stories change or go, Superman will be there in some shape or form.
Also Didio was fired. I don't think that's a good thing overall but that does mean 5G is in question.
Now... how shall the Justice League get their badass credit back after being given the Mary Sue of Mary Sue trivializing defeats?
Superman is very relatable, take away the god like powers….he works a regular 9-5, he was raised as a middle class (maybe upper middle class) child in a small town, he graduated high school and college and then moved to the big city to pursue a career, he worries about how he’s going to introduce his girlfriend to his parents, before he got lois he always stumbled around women he liked, he has to work to pay rent and utility bills, etc. other than the god like powers he’s just like any one of us

Its a personification of what people wish the American value system was
I need to disagree with Erin in the point where he seas that Superman can’t be relatable
Superman before anything he is a Smallville kid. Clark is a shy but good person. That is really bad to talk to girls and great at writing. Clark is a North Star because he understands us, he is part of us. He grew in a farm and start to now that he was an alien when he was teen. Superman is relatable because he has crushes, family, friends, good things and bad things, props, an anxieties. Clark is not a god, he is literally a SUPER MAN a physical way, but at the end he IS one of us
You di realize the Clark Kent persona us just pretend right?
He is PRETENDING to be human. How is that relatable?
@@cpenner7086 Superman the way I see it has 3 personas. Superman the confident and powerful hero. Clark Kent mild mannered reporter who keeps to himself and doesn’t say much. Clark believed himself to be a human since as long as he could remember it was only until his teenage years he discovered he was an alien but at that point he wasn’t pretending he spent so much of his life already as Clark Kent not Kal El

That's why He-Man and She-Ra are my favourite Superheroes. They represent the best of Men and Women and what they can accomplish when they work together.
so who's smarter lex luthor/adrian veidt/or bruce wayne?🤔
The PR is that Dr, Manhattan is not human but he is very human. His need to control everything and, like every other comic book villain, wants to create his own universe to "get it right". Insufferably human.
My only issue is that I felt many watchmen characters ended up as side characters for superman. Its s great superman story but I would rather have had a straight up watchmen story
I think I needed to reread Doomsday Clock one more time to have a final opinion on it.

I agree. It made me fall in love with Superman and I really wasn't a huge fan of him.

I can agree to this, but the fact that It took so damn long for Geoff Johns to complete the story, let alone how unnecessary long it was to tell us something that is important, yet simple. It could've have been 6 issues instead of twelve and didn't have to be a slow burn. Still agree though.
Is Superman still the only one who can notice Batman leaving off screen?
What is Superman's total fight record?
(Sigh) it's an inspiration story and superman will always be my favorite fourth superhero aside from my other heroes, but let's be real here, we all know that darkness will continue to engulf mother earth until The 'Light' fends that darkness away and allow mother earth to once shine her light.
