FYI Jeff Phillips just did a video on what he did to quiet up his ILF. Worth taking a look at. Jason's revelations were a real eye opener and supported by video and a lot of data points. I primarily hunt elk but have started branching out to white tails so your video and Jason's are really helpful to me.
Someone once said that if you make it your only option, then you'll get it done. I know you can get one with your Recurve, just stay focused and don't give up 🤘🏼
My self bows are the quietest bows for sure. Longbows of various designs are next, and then recurves. I also have a compound bow that shoots very quietly because it is 60 # shooting 615 gr. arrow. (It is a 15 yr old Mathews Switchback XT). I think if the deer sees movement of the shot it has a warning ahead of the sound, but sound is very important. I hunt a lot from the ground so trying to get the shot off without the deer seeing the movement of the shot is important.
Thanks a great video! String noise is nothing but energy stored in your bow that didn’t get transferred to the arrow. I would say shooting anything above 15 gpp makes a difference yes the arrows are slower however they are still in the 120-150 range and people shot like that for thousands of years. If you see arrows of tribal people they look like spears made for kids.
Hey so I have a 50 lb ilf recurve and I have a 29.5 in draw length so it will be a few pounds heavier . I was thinking of getting black eagle vintage arrow at 340 spine and cutting them down to 31 in and then putting in a 100 gr brass black eagle insert and a 125 grain arrow point for an overall weight of 550 grains, do you think this would work? Would this be too stiff?
Yep, we broke temp record today. Just bit south of ya. And tomorrow will be in 20's! Ain't spring-ish exciting?! FastFlight type strings are, in my experience, nearly as quiet. And, yes, my glass bow just gathers dust.
@@EthanPageHunter all right , i feel , i shoot 60 inch mesa r&d longbow , but im looking on ebay at bear recurves , its funny were never satisfied, this video hit home , why am i trying to change what works , i guess its my idolatry, this video encourages me to stick , thx love your content , its rt in line w where im at
I want to note some of the sound you all will hear while I shoot is due to poor placement of my Lav mic 🙄 not the bows making that gosh awful noise.
Excellent video! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching 👍🏼

Thank you for the information. I will look into that. Also thanks for watching and best of luck.
Good vid, longbows are the quieter bow design, no doubt. Some are spooky quiet.
@@hoosierdonkeys8073 I saw one the other day they blew my mind. Quietest I’ve heard ever.

You will likely even be cutting those 340 down a little more than that. But yes it will be very close!
Ok thanks a bunch
I agree quiet bows are killers . Thanks for sharing
🤙🏼
I’m in the process of making a Osage self bow I hope it’s quite and hope to deer hunt with it this year. But we’ll see.
Best of luck to you. Osage makes a beautiful bow.
If you install a selway slip on quiver, it’ll quiet down ur Satori, BIG TIME 👍👍
Tried it. Not much change.

Missouri is never short of excitement on weather
Thanks for sharing an I agree with you quite bows are killers
You got it
I thought the satori was your new preferred hunting rig ? Is this change of heart
Little bit of that and things getting too over complicated for my liking.

@@donwaldroopoutdoors3665 absolutely. It’s a journey I’ll always think that. Best of luck.
🙂
Your self bow is quiet and prettier than Dolly 🙂
I like the way you think 😬
Take the quiver off of the other bow
I filled the hood with foam. Helped a lot.
650 gr or700 is quite
Yes they are.
poor Dolly
Haven’t asked my bow how it feels about the name yet
