My shifter shaft in my 88 gm 700 r4 tranny pops in and out ever so slightly and I can push it back in...... Would you know why it does this and how to fix it? I need it to stay put so I can install my bandm shifter to it.. Thanks for the video..
I am going to be putting one of these kits in my 87 Corvette this weekend. The instructions for the current kit ( updated 30Jan09) reconcile with this fantastic video perfectly with just two exceptions: 1) Page 3 - Step 2 - Removal of 3-2 control Valve and Drilling of .110 Vent Holes is shown a bit later in this video. It would appear appear not to matter whether you complete this step per the instructions or per this video. Page 4 - Step 2 - 2nd Accumulator Valve Spring is not show in this video. To fill in the blanks, check out this gentleman's awesome video of installation of the SK-700-Jr-B kit. th-cam.com/video/WLfBZeOS2W8/w-d-xo.html
I'm installing the 700 2&3 currently, and I am just wondering what the purpose of the Yellow Spring is, that is installed between the 2-4 Servo cover and the 4th piston, being installed at 35:35?
@@BrianSwayne thank you, the instructions in the 700 2&3 to discard the Snap Ring and OE Cushion Spring, but I have had people tell me to retain the Snap Ring and Cushion Spring, because it can cause a harsh 3-2 downshift if it is removed, so we were thinking about retaining the Snap Ring and OE Cushion Spring. If we do that, will we still need to use the Yellow Spring? We are using the corvette servo.
Can i do this to the automatic in my parents 84 s10 blazer? Trans is pretty sluggish but was overhauled a while back.. seems like there’s much room for improvement
my 700R4 wont shift up into 2nd, my governor looks fine, valve works and the tv cable seems fine, new filter, oil, and even some Lucas oil, still no upshift. help, what next?
Basically the same transmission. The 700 was also designated the 4L60. the e just made it (ultimately) controlled by the computer. Transgo has a shift kit for them also. This kit is supposed to set up line pressures so that the trans acts like its at mid life (40k miles) and eliminates hunting, bumping, surging, ect. They work in all the 200 thru 4l80' I've installed them on. I have not touched one in some time now and I am reviewing. I have a 454 going in front of a tired 700. I want it to live for a good long time. I have all the new hard parts and my kit. BTW, This Is the Transgo video that the pros had access to when the kits were first introduced.
I have a question. I already rebuilt my '93 700R4 (MD8 case) and used the Transgo 700 2&3 kit. All is well, shifts strong, good lock up, good pressures, etc., except that from time to time, I don't get 4th gear. Which parts of the 700 JR kit corrects the lack/loss of 4th gear. The 2 & 3 kit already had a pump valve (looks like the toughest part while on one's back in the garage), and I wonder if some of the JR kit parts are already in my transmission or were a part of the 2 & 3 kit. Some of the parts in the JR kit appear to be the same as in the 2 & 3 kit. Thanks in advance.
If you look at Automatic Transmission You tube page,he installs a jr kit. I would not be able to tell if the valve is from that kit or not,but maybe watching his video might help.
I miss watching the tutorials from the 70s & 80s. Thanks for the video!
Glad I found this. I had to type transgo. I keep pulling up some terrible videos .. Thanks for the video!!
This has to done while your alone!

This is Transgo's video not mine. I posted compliments of Transgo. Maybe updated.
@@BrianSwayne It is still super helpful!
If the servo was too tight on the band, could this cause a binding when you place the vehicle in reverse?
My 700r4 has 1st second and slips goin into third and has the reverse gear… any help???
SMELL THE OIL IF IT SMELLS BURNT YOU HAVE BURNT UP SOME CLUTCHES ETC.

It cushions the shift so it's not too harsh.

@@brianholtmusic You can try it if it too harsh install it. Either way you go it's 50-50.

If it's a 700r4 yes.

Check accumulator spring
Does the TV cable need to be re adjusted after the shift kit is installed?
No you should be good.
No
@@BrianSwayne Thank you.
always double check
how applicable is this shift kit install video to todays 4l60e?
I'm not sure this is a transgo video that I have shared.
