Even getting just 50% of the intended inheritance was way more than they deserved. If I were the grandparents, I would've changed the will again behind their backs so they'd get a dollar each.

They more than likely signed some form of contract. So it wouldn't hold up in court if they did.

My DNA donors actually hated when my brother and I got along because it meant I was happy. Does nobody think about what the end goal is anymore?? Ah yes let’s just lie to everyone and hope they don’t question it or talk to anyone. This has only 1 potential outcome provided that somebody other than them has a modicum of decency. This was entirely reliant on the aunt being oblivious or uncaring, the sister just not asking any questions about where OP had gone, and even if they did tell her, did they expect her to just say okay and move on?? Oh and that sister would even be willing to move everything in that house anyway. Like this was so poorly thought out its genuinely baffling

It’s their money and they can do with it what they wish. 16 is old enough to emancipate themselves from their parents so this can end quickly. But it’s not unexpected for a grandparent to set expectations for their adult children.

I do see your side of this argument, but it has less impact when they already considered OP as nothing but a burden. Now it's the same, but for different rea$on$.

why? they didnt know that OP's relationship with her parents was that bad since they live far away and parents acted like theyre nice to op whenver its family get together, in their eyes, the parents chose sister over op cause she was pregnant, but wanted them to take OP back since she is also their child that needs a roof.
But once OP told them she didnt want to go back and how neglectful they were, they supported her, and even helped the aunt get OP's custody.

Lol... can't legally kick a kid out before 18 if it's the states. Most of them anyways. Also, newborns, at least in my family, live in the room with mom and dad.

She must be the so called "Unplanned" and her mother might have suffered severely during the birth thats why they were doing this.
Look everyone, this is the ancient times to till now reasoning of neglectful parents...Even my father hated me like this even though I am the only child saying he and his side hates me because "I am a girl"...IDK why they hate me just for that...

I have a really good buddy that when we were 14 his family moved a few hours away for a new job and while down there his step dad and mom split and then his mom got on drugs with a drug addict. She eventually kicked him out and he had to couch surf until one of his buddies up there, that he met at school, convinced his parents to let him move in. So he did that until he left for the army at 18. He’s doing good now though. Married. Living a few states away. Has his own house and ranked up multiple times in the army.
