- This week we find two remote Boondocking locations near Sedona/Cottonwood….. actually it’s technically Clarkdale, Arizona. There are a few spots for big rigs of lots of options for smaller rigs. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Sedona but still want to be close by… this is a great option.

Roodle still has that same ball from the pet store. He usually hides them by now. 😂 Yes, town days are a huge culture shock! I am usual at my peak stress level on these days.

Thanks again for doing the videos the way you’re doing them. I love that you give the coordinates the road numbers, that’s so helpful! I live in Arizona, so I want to remind people that there are snakes sometimes even during winter depending on where you’re at. Even if you think they’re not out yet you can have an exceptionally warm day and there will be a rattlesnake laying on a rock. The other thing when you have your dogs running loose be very cautious as to the wildlife around you. The Javelina do not like dogs and will come after your dog. They do mean to kill the dog just so you know. Coyotes will snatch small dogs right off the leash so be careful. And of course cactuses, scorpions and other wildlife can be dangerous to your dog. As long as you’re careful you’ll be OK. Snake avoidance training and venom shots are recommended for dogs.
Great advice there! We had a whole family of Javelina’s jump out in front of us once. Thankfully we had Roodle on a lease so we were able to vacate the area without an incident. Roodle wanted to chase them so that would have been bad news.

We thought that was where you would go. We lived on the Verde River in Clarkdale for 4 years, just across from Sycamore Canyon Rd. Beautiful out there.
That must have been a great 4 years! We were quite impressed with this area. We still need to return to kayak down the river and drive some back roads out side of Jerome. 😀

We have not seen a single snake yet. I expect to any day now. We have heard other nomads talk about snakes they have seen already.

I know the video was a couple/few weeks ago, but our gas here in the Orlando, FL, area just jumped to $4.49/gal. a few days ago. We're just staying put for now... ~ Kir (and Ron)
That sounds very high for gas in Florida! We are having to plan our camping locations differently now. We are currently looking at staying in the same area for 2 weeks, just to keep cost down. Food prices are also going up quickly. If this keeps up a fishing licence will be worth the money spent. 😂

Right on Glenn! That location on the Verde river we just found randomly from exploring. That's going to be our go-to spot for the whole Sedona area. We loved the river access. We stayed there for a week and nobody else camped at any of the other locations on the loop. 😀😀😀
It’s nice the State park has day use and those amenities. That’s worth it. Great way to refill, dump and clean up. Love the camp sites you guys find. Hope when I retire I can go there. Guess I’ll be looking back at your videos for the gps coordinates so I can find them 😂. Great video 👍🏼
We are starting to see a few of our free camping locations get closed. If there is a way to retire sooner I would go for it. I think free camping will be changing in the next 10 years. We hope you get out here sooner than later and we can meet you on the road. 👱♂️👩🐕🎾😀

Thank you, Deb. Roodle is having a great time and loves when people sing to him. 😂10 cents overnight hike is not good. We are about ready to head up through Nevada where the average gas price is over 5 dollars a gallon. Staying in one area for a few days longer is helping keep the cost down. 😎

Right on Terry! We have Gaia as well but need to use it more to get more familiar with it. I hear it's also good for pre-loading maps where you will have no cell reception.

Thanks for all the good info. on places to boondock. Question, I also have a 2018 Promaster, and when driving on dusty gravel roads, the fine dust seeps in the back doors and covers everything inside with fine lay of dust. Is this a problem for you as well, if so what have you done to solve this problem.
Great question, Paulo. Yes, we also had dust creeping in through the back doors. To fix this problem keep all of your windows and fans closed and turn on the vehicle dash fan to high. This keeps enough inside pressure to keep the dust-out.😀

Roodle has the best parents! In your window installment vid, you mentioned you could get away with one fan. Would you have it over the bed or in the galley?

We’ve been looking but haven’t come across ANY snakes in the west. Arizona has 13 different kinds of rattlesnakes too! We tend to spend the winters only in the desert. We did see snakes 🐍 back east in Indiana…. Two mating snakes fell from 40 feet out of a tree….. that was it! Get me outta here!!
You know you hit the big time when you can say “4 dollar40 cent per gallon not to bad” I’m paying around 300 a week in fuel
We are currently in Nevada and the gas is now 5 dollars a gallon.😕 We are staying in one spot for 2 weeks to save our fuel allowance.

What months are snake season. Also we are new to this. Just got a new teardrop camper from Nucamp. I’ve been trying to learn important things before we get started. We have 2 German Shepard I’d love to take but it seems many activities don’t allow dogs. So I’m not sure how to keep them safe while being away a few hours.
+michelle osborne hello and welcome! Snake season depends where you are and what kind of snakes are in that area. I always google it. As a general rule if the lizards are out so are the snakes….. but isn’t always true. Snakes can be out in cooler temps as well. Unfortunately when you travel with dogs you are going to sacrifice many activities. Most national parks are extremely limited as to where your dog can go and it is frowned upon leaving your dogs in your vehicle! Even illegal in some spots. Beware…. In many states they can break your window if it’s over 80 degrees and your dog is in distress. If our dog can’t go we don’t go! Or we divide and conquer…. One person stays with our pup!! There are pet Sitting services you can find such as Rover. Some parks have kennels. It’s much more challenging but can be done 😃
That's the exact price I paid yesterday in Missouri for gas.
We could all sure use a break on these gas prices. We find ourselves driving less each month.

I'm old enough not to play with snakes anymore but I do enjoy seeing them. How is the solar panels and batteries holding up for you now?

The battery and solar panels have been working so well that I can go a full week and not even check to see how much power we have. I might add 2 more 100-watt panels to the roof just to help out in the winter months but so far not needed. Gas prices are so high we are currently looking for a place to camp for 2 weeks. Our driving style has changed a lot. 😂
How do you guys not get more water but every two weeks?
First of all we do not have a shower, we use baby wipes and sponge baths in between showers. We use a sprayer for our dishes that might use a cup or two of water when doing dishes. When fully loaded with water we have about 23 gallons on board. That leave’s approximately 15-18 gallons of water for drinking. We also have a Berkey water filter and a backpacking MSR water filter. If there is water nearby we can collect from streams, rivers and lakes.
