First of all, I thank both of you for sharing this video to show how the people in Burma live and go through their daily life. Alan clearly describes the condition inside Burma to let the people around the world know that the country is in decline due to the civil war and under the military region. Thank you 🙏
Burmese people individually tend to have this perception of tourists as guests to their home. They don't usually see tourists as a source of income/customers but rather, a visitor. That's what I love about my country and it's people. It'd be sad to see that fade away as Myanmar modernizes
I've been travelling around in Asia for years and honestly Myanmar was the best experience I have ever had. Amazing people, beautiful culture and delicious food. I wish things get better for the wonderful people of this amazing country. Love from Saudi Arabia.
A nice video on Dala Township, unbelievable the tricycle driver understand what you were talking to him and his response were correct even though you can judge because of his broken english. But I can not believe he understands most of your words. I am a Burmese and I admitted, very hard to pickup Irish, Scottish and cogny atcent. Well, very good showing your experiences.
Thank you for visiting Myanmar ❤ my recommendation is to explore more areas in Yangon and other cities . Da lah Township is one of the worst places to visit in Myanmar. Wishing you all the best from Canada
The official ticket price is just for 300 mmk. Anyway thanks for showing the conditions happening in Dala, Yangon. I wish Myanmar to be peaceful. I'm very upset to see our country's situation because of military government.
The official ticket price written on the wall is just 300Ks. He charged 2000Ks a ticket but that might be the real market price because 300ks in Myanmar nowadays is nothing but a penny.
The attraction of your video is that you didn't first visit the usual tourist haunts like the Pagodas and Shopping Malls but went to DALA to see the poverty.
Its also thought of as beautiful by burmese, so not only sunblock but its literally also their form of makeup I cant wait to go back to Myanmar...i hope the war ends so i can get back to Inle lake area and visit my friends i met on my last trip
Myanmar is a diverse community of people unlike other Asian countries. There is no one common appearance in people. They look different from each other because of the the make up of different races & etnnicity. Buddhists, muslims, hindus & christians lives side by side harmoneously. Many despite being poor would welcome strangers into their homes to share a meal.
Memories of 5 years ago when we also explored DALA. Lots of foreigners were met by the rickshaw drivers when the boat arrived. Would love to return. Was also there in 2012, but best time was in 1993 when we crossed the river illegally from Thailand and spent a few days with the Democratic Student Fighters.
Alan & Shannon: In the future, cold you please ask the locals to slowly pronounce such plants/trees/ingredients on their own language? These days the rest of us can find ways to decipher exactly what something is with context and then track down the scientific name of the plant (which is universal around the world for plant identification). Cultural practices like the natural sunscreen are becoming lost knowledge world wide and essential for preserving real knowledge and ancient traditions.
"The thanaka tree is the source of a natural sunscreen and skincare product used in Myanmar: What it is Thanaka is a paste made from the ground bark, wood, or roots of the thanaka tree mixed with water. It has a yellowish, chalky appearance.
The thanaka tree is also known by the English names sandalwood, wood-apple, elephant-apple, monkey fruit, and curd fruit tree. Its scientific name is Limonia acidissima or Hesperethusa crenulata.
Why dala? Tbh I wouldn't really recommended visiting that town. People are only friendly to foreigners. They don't really get along well with people from same country, just like ethnics groups in Myanmar. No wonder why there's still war for more than 70 years. Exact is 89 years as I remembered

I'm so impressed by my people! I couldn't even speak a full sentence when I was in Myanmar. Hard working and intelligent people. May God bless them.
One of the best country I would say in terms of hospitality, honesty.
