Crossing the Highest and Most Chaotic Land Border in The World 🇨🇳🇵🇰

  • We sadly leave China behind, and head onwards towards Pakistan, across the Kunjerab Pass, which at 1600 feet above sea level, stands as the highest paved land border crossing in the entire world!
Everything runs smoothly until exactly the moment when we cross the border...find out why.
Khunjerab Pass is a mountain pass in northern Pakistan that lies at an elevation of 4,693 meters above sea level. It is located in the Karakoram and holds a significant strategic position on the northern border of Pakistan, specifically in the Gilgit-Baltistan's Hunza and Nagar Districts.

China helped pakistan to build G Highway . as well as built the ongoing China pakistan economic corridor [CPEC ] projects . CPEC is part of the BRI . Phase 1 of CPEC has been completed Before these projects , there were little land connectivity and accessibility in this remote part of the world. When CPEC Ph 2 is also completed , pakistan will be linked to BRI euroasia land corridor running from China across the central asia to west asia n europe.
So one day you 2 might want to travel the euroasia land corridor linking China n, pakistan to iran n europe side of the continent .

helped - what a joke. China aims to be a replacement of British empire. Hats off to America who learnt from mistakes of imperial Britain and did not encroach other country's land under guise of building roads. America has means and the money power to take over any country but it did not. China with little progress it made wasted no time in taking over land from neighboring countries. India will never take away anyone else's land. Thats why we are different from Pakistanis..and we separated from them. Pakistani if they become rich will snatch land away from everyone without any remorse. Human being are so different in every part of the world..One must be careful and be well informed.

I actually felt like I was holding your camera but cannot talk to you, hehehe. Actually, when you went to buy sim card and told that its only locals and you were out there after leaving the shop, not knowing what next, no no no money... no..... @@Alan_and_Shannon Greetings from a Pakistani American. I generally don't want long videos due to time but your video was too engaging to set aside. Plus, cross between China and Pakistan via the Khujerab Pass is on my Bucket List. Sorry to see you having such currency issues. I absolutely hate those ATMs which ask you to insert the card; if something goes wrong, you lose your card. Even in America I always try the swipe card reading. My strategy when needing currency in Pakistan: Carry a good bit of American Dollars. Carry 2-3 credit cards. Store some cash with relatives. In case of Karachi, with its rampant petty crimes, its never good to carry a lot of cash or even your original 'documents'. BTW, unless something already exists, there should be some internet based cash-access service where, for a fee, you'd store some money and be able to access it anywhere in the world after authentication. Thanks for the video. I will subscribe to you! PS. Scottish accent can be very hard to understand but I understood most of yours'.

Thanks for your acknowledgement about the generosity of Pakistani people. There are good and bad people every where in the world. Yes, people here are more emotional, curious and communicative. Humanity is not restricted to one country alone. You have to pay the price in-exchange of the services (including behavior and development) in any county. When we compare counties we actually don't compare the price we spend.
In the last, nature has no boundaries, each part the world is beautiful. The uniqueness about this area/part of the world is that, it is the junction of three highest mountain ranges (Himalayas,Karakorum and Hindukush), which contain eight above 8000m peaks and hundred of above 7000m peaks. Thanks God.

China and Pakistan are very friendly and brotherly countries. The Chinese call Pakistani brothers "Ba Tie". The friendship is like steel, so the border between the two countries is almost undefended. What you need to understand is that Pakistan and India (South Asian subcontinent) are both countries that were colonized by Britain. English is the official language of both countries. Because of religious conflicts, Pakistan is not compatible with India. Compared with Indians, I think Pakistani people are more friendly and hope for peace. If what you experienced today happened in India, it would be very dangerous, especially Shannon.
