Agree. Lately Fool Us has featured several amateurs. I would much rather see professionals like Brian Brushwood up there than some kid who performs for friends and family.
This might sound arbitrary but I think it's important to acknowledge not just how passionate jason and Brian are about all these episodes but also what good listeners they are. Seeing how Brian takes in the info while on the tour and relates it to his own knowledge shows how much he loves this. Truly well done episode as always guys!
Jason fell into a vat, when a bunch of mini Diamond Jims showed up to sing a song about it. Brian turns to Rex Williams (who is wearing a top hat) and asks "What, what are those?" and with a glare Rex responds "those, my pony tailed friend, are from an island far away, they're called Coleslaws..."
I'm British and the only time I had a gin Martini I blacked out and wound up dancing with a pretty blonde for the next three hours. I came to still dancing and was so exhausted I had to sit down. I've stayed away from it since. I do think Sloe gin tastes really nice though.
Kind of, yes. In a classic G & T though the tonic is equally important, as is what you add to it. I still hold that Tanqueray gin, Fevertree tonic and a wedge of lime is perfect for me. Others differ in opinion but, much like our approach to tea, they're allowed to be wrong as long it's still gin :)
He hasn't drank in over a year. At least not during an episode. I've spent like 15-20 minutes trying to track down why, but it's mostly speculation and hearsay. I'm still wondering why it's not referenced in any way shape or form. I get it if he'd rather keep it private, but again, that just leads to assumptions. Regardless of the reason, I feel like expressing it to the community would have nothing but positive implications for the show, the cast, and fans who might also be in a similar situation.
I like that Brian's growing his hair out. Us long-haired men gotta represent. Also, he can move forward with confidence that this will never be the most embarrassing decision he's made with regard to hairstyles.
I like to go with the Tanqueray Rangpur since it's already got lime flavor in it. The citrus works great for the summer so really they're tasty year-round!
"Fusel oil" will always remind me of Robbie Robot analyzing the cooks bourbon. "Yes... relatively simple alcohol molecules with traces of fusel oil. Would 60 gallons be sufficient?" I've been to a few stills here in the NJ/NY/PA area and it's always interesting to hear the process. The one in Roscoe, NY made a gin they put in a barrel shortly, that was different. I hate gin and I loved that gin.
It's kind of weird, as someone that finds just about every facet of drinking alcohol unpleasant, I'm still very interested in things like drink mixing, the history, and the process of creation of alcohol.
I'll be in Austin at the end of April and everyone has said Still Austin is a must stop. I love a quality gin as much as wine and whiskey. I can't wait to try this gin now.
Okay, Brian, it's time to give you a hint. Instead of using a boring plain rubber band for your hair, use a steel hairpin. Easiest way to carry a concealed weapon. Also, Good episode! Nice to learn about new spirits!
Stripping and rectifying are often used in chemical engineering. You should talk about azeotropes maybe if you discuss high proof spirit's (ie vodka or moonshine). An azeotrope is a point where the vapor mixture won't change (this results in a "maximum" proof) also for flavors lighter modules will travel higher changing flavors on each tray. Also each tray would be equalizent to a time in the pot still
Id like to try some, but I dont want to buy a full bottle. I dont particularly like Gin, but this showcase really makes me wonder if I would like THEIR Gin.
Oh shit, will brushwood end up looking like Steven Seagal or "Doc" Antle with that pony tail ?🤣🤣 respect that he tries really different hair styles, fuck yeah man
If you want to get the most from your gin, start out by taking a generous sip and use it like mouthwash. It will burn, it won't taste nice, and you'll hate me for suggesting it. You can then either swallow that sip, or spit it out. Now you are ready to enjoy that gin. You will get more of the flavours, they will be richer, and the gin will be more enjoyable to drink. Trust me, it will change the way you drink gin forever.
didnt love how you used the B roll of the tower from the ground more than once. It makes sense that you couldn't use a higher shot but I could do without the bottom few layers.
It's got a lot more popular here in Scotland the past few years too. IMO getting gin from a Scotch whisky distillery is like hiring an escort to vacuum your apartment.
@@danielr3310 Had the good fortune to do the distillery tour and The Botanist cocktail workshop on Islay, using foraged ingredients. Well worth it if you can visit the Island after this Covid bullshit is over
My friend's a marketing boss person (I have no idea about his official title) at a gin distillery. I'm such a bad friend, I haven't even tasted his product yet! 😂
Almost everyone around them that isn't on camera is masked. As I understand it there are special rules for film production where you have to have constant tests, keep a certain distance, and also like Brian said, they're basically making handsanitizer, so there might be an already expected level of germ protection. Once they get off camera they probably slap masks back on immediately.
Ah... the sleep of the smug! Not to be confused with the Sleep of the Smaug, which is an entirely different... more fire-breathing... variety... On second thought, maybe I do need life insurance.
Gentleman, Scoundrel or Rogue. Brian must be a gentleman, because no scoundrel or rogue would be caught dead in a butterfly shirt or tie his hair back in a ponytail.

WOOOO
The first part of the intro cuts "Ladderlife" off... intentional?
Finally got that scamstuff link secure, eh? Good for you!
Oh No!
Brian, did someone hold you down and cut your hair to make you look like an idiot!
Brian cut your hair it's not a look. You are embarrassing your wife.
Time to break out the pigtails, Brushwood.
Jokes aside, this episode was fantastic!
I just read that in Mr.Pants voice.

If either Jason or Brian aren’t there, I worry that one has accidentally/ intentionally killed the other

Tangueray is gross.
