A lot of those clubs are wannabes anyways. Can't count how many times I've had some HD hawg rider try to keep me off a road or some bar because I happened to be on my yamaha that day.
@@dce9018 😂😂… also, anyone watching these videos is in a club or going to join one if they’re interested. I don’t think this is in the gang member algo
I believe there are differences between clubs and gangs, outlaw clubs are gangs to me because they most of the time deal drugs or guns ect. That’s gang stuff. Clubs are just a bunch of dude’s enjoying fellowship together and sharing their interests in two wheels
After leaving the military I joined a bike club. When you first join you start as prospect, where they look at you as person, what you have to offer as well as is that club for you. It’s hard work prospecting and it takes a year to 18months to earn the right to wear the patches - that’s why in a nutshell you don’t wear the patch unless you’ve earned it and will likely see you getting it removed at the very least if you wear it when you shouldn’t! I spent over 10 years in the club, but ended up having leave due to work commitments though I’m still on good terms and visit when I can. Great times and great video
I agree and was looking for this post. What I wanted to mention is that you only get a bottom rocker as a prospect, the top rocker and patch is when you become a “full patch” member. The OP mentions I believe, only a top and no bottom rocker, when it’s the other way around. There are three bottom rockers: city/town, county/country, or Nomad. If I’m not mistaken, it’s been a while. Good video on clothing and brief history. That one pic with all the beer bottles was staged of course. I don’t think we new media back then like we do now….
Bikers are such great guy's it doesn't matter who you are, what bike you ride, you can always strike up a conversation with them since they share the same passion as you do.
I've been riding full time since '82, but never owned a real leather jacket until I traded a tool for one. Now I'm 64, carbon fiber full face helmet, Indian Scout bobber, i look as dashing as I once was - just 30 years late for anyone to care!😂
I'm part of an mc and you did a pretty good job of explaining the "colors" and how we wear them. I appreciate the fact you kept it respectfull but didn't sound like a "know it all" at same time. Good shit.
Thanks for this episode on biker styling history. In the past few years, the rise in long distance adventure riding, gear has evolved into function over form (so to speak). Safety and functional considerations sometimes don’t always translate into good style, although some European manufacturers manage to balance both.
My jacket looks so basic but has armor on chest shoulders elbows and back. The only obvious thing is a logo but it matches the color of the jacket. And thats a sport jacket from dainese.
I am a member of a one piece patch MC. I have watched your videos for years. The information you shared is legit, and I can tell you have done your research on MC culture. The only officer you forgot that almost all clubs have is Sergeant At Arms. I had many misconceptions about biker culture before I became a part of it. I have become friends with many members of the larger 1% clubs, and they’re all stand up, solid people. I will say that your videos have helped elevate my biker look for sure!!!

@@TheFlameBladeWielder Yes the post WWII biker jacket worn by Brando was based on a Police Highway Patrol jacket, that's why there's a little pocket on the front for handcuffs. Well that's what I tell the missus....😁
I stepped into that world for a while and the majority of bikers I ran into wore vests, boots and a turtle shell. That was their protection. I always wore a leather jacket, full face helmet and gloves. I've thought about getting chaps but I never got a pair.
@alleyoop1234 makes sense for safety and practicality of being an outlaw. Plus more real estate for stylistic choices as opposed to the ballistic helmet looking ones that show your cheeks ect
Enjoyed your video. I've been riding for 40 years. Up until 3 years ago I wore a brain bucket or no helmet at all. I went down 3 years ago when my front tire blowout and got shot into a corn field. It was cut, but the ground was frozen. Torn MCL, ACL, miniscus left knee, and my noggin got slammed. Worst concussion I ever had in my life. I wear a real helmet now.
For my style on a bike in southern nevada it’s a slim 3/4 helmet, leather vest, t shirt, overalls usually hickory stripe but denim as well, western style work boots, leather gloves. In the winter I’ll throw a denim jacket under the vest. I have several very expensive full face helmets but they all make you look like a bobble head and for me they are claustrophobic and most the year just too hot and stuffy in southern nevada heat.
10:35 As an American rider, I always encourage people to purchase gear that meets EU standards. Helmets that are at least ECE certified, jackets/pants/shoes that are CE Approved, etc. There are so many choices for gear that both looks cool and provides proper protection.
I had a nasty crash just 2 weeks back... bike rolled over and almost totaled... but I walked out like nothing happened due to solid full gear.... keep them helmets on
My style started years before I started riding motorcycles mainly choppers. Leathers were a miracle from the heavens I live in the United Kingdom horribly weather here year around. Patches are real simple. If you aren't in a club, organization or whatever else, don't wear em. Its safer that way. I think the rise of sport bikes in the late 80's and early 90's are what made helmets and gear cool and common. Racers had to use it and everyone wanted to look like they were a racer on the road so they wore the gear and it started to rub off into the rest of the biker world.
I disagree with the best helmet choice being modular, Full face is superior because theres no possibility of the helmet having a failure of the chin locking bar and your face being ground against the pavement.
Just to add to what you said about patches, my understanding is that the three piece configuration is mainly used by outlaw clubs. Non-outlaw, "family clubs" more frequently use a one or two piece design. And yeah, the 1% diamond is pretty closely associated with outlaw clubs as well. As a rule, it's a good idea to avoid any patches that might make people think you're in a club. Outlaw clubs basically act as sheriffs within the biker world, and might pull you over for a chat if they spot you. That includes overly realistic Sons Of Anarchy merch, which people have actually gotten confronted over.
Nope. The one patch set up is very old school 1%er. The number of patches don’t really matter anymore. It’s what the patches say that matter and what the club is all about that matters. There are Christian clubs that use the 3 piece set up.

I relate to this on a really high level lol. I'm a young rider, my uncle is the founding father to a motorcycle club that I won't be naming for the sake of privacy. I often ride with them, and I remember the very first time I step my foot into the community of motorcycle clubs. We started at the basecamp, rode to a cafe where we met with 2-3 other motorcycle clubs. We had the whole cafe for ourself for the whole night, somebody probably made a deal of some sort. Anyway, I was clueless, everybody emptied up the center part of the cafe. I actually can sit wherever I like since I got my uncle as the founding father but I'm a junior there, so I did what everybody else did and sit on the side part of the cafe. All the founding fathers and presidents sat on the center part where they talked about certain stuff, planned something, all the stuff that the seniors usually do basically. Then I saw on the outside of the cafe, there's the lower ranking members with denim vests, unlike the leathers that we wore. They're tasked to watch the motorcycle and the surroundings. That's when I knew the whole biker clubs thing is no joke. We rode all around town till 4 A.M. Then I slept on my uncle's house. I rode a GSXR1000 K1, that night. Spectacular bike. While my uncle rode his honda shadow 1100.
He rode a Honda Shadow in an MC? I've never heard of such a thing. Usually the rule is you must ride American which for the most part makes it exclusively Harleys. Some Indians nowadays, and some Victory's if you were cool with having your balls busted for it all the time haha. Gotta be over 1000cc, but you also caught some flak for rid8ng 1200 sportsters (which is what I rode for awhile). But maybe being a founder gives you certain privileges, or it was an RC and not MC. Riders clubs have much less stringent rules on what you ride.
He said it, but I'll say it again due to how important it is. If you don't understand it, do not put it on your body. Wearing a 3 piece, an MC cube, a 1% diamond and to the right club member who's trying to either defend his clubs name or make a reputation for himself, pretty much anything from his world you don't know, this can you kicked off your bike or worse. The most important word to members: respect. Wearing what you do not know is taken as disrespect. I've equated it to stolen valor in the past. Moreover, if you're not a bandido, why would you want to wear their colors anyway? . Lastly, a 1%er once said, "you can wear anything you want if your balls are big enough" Be careful out there. If you don't know about club life, it's best not to represent yourself like you're affiliated
Same here. The bikers I ran into so far are great guys. They weren't the outlaws the media keeps portraying. The ones my buddy and I met gave us directions and even managed to get his ride back up and running. No charge. The ones I met in concerts were fun guys to party with.
I’m a firm believer if you’re a biker and aspiring to join a club just know patches are earned and never bought. Some people in clubs take offense and will even G check you. So I would say leave your SOA cut or lone wolf eBay specials home if you’re riding in club territory. But if you just got random patches like band logos or locations you rode that you put on your cut most clubs won’t even bother you. And when coming to a club member never put your hands on the club colors some might take it as a sign of disrespect as well. But for the most part most outlaw bikers are actually down to earth people who just love to bullshit as much as the next person. So don’t let their reputation feel like you can’t come say hi and introduce yourself unless they are handling club business. Give respect to get respect.
Im surprised you did not mention denim before leather. In the 60-70s clubs started out in denim because it was a cheaper alternative to leather. Same style different fabric.
Great video, Antonio! Some cool facts I hadn't known previously. As a Canadian who has driven (just in a car) from coast to coast, I hope you managed to ride the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton and the Icefields Parkway from Jasper to Calgary. Fun fact: Sonny Barger, founding member of the Hell's Angels, played, "Lenny The Pimp" on Sons Of Anarchy. Even he seemed to think the show was a little exaggerated 😂
I ride with a “no” patch motorcycle club. No issues ever that I know of. I also dress for the slide, not the ride. Helmet, gloves, boots, jacket and good attitude.
The style now is bulky textile waterproof, airbag vests gauntlet gloves that have external exo skeleton on the fingers and casual urban icon motorcycle hoodies for young riders. Full face helmets looking like a storm trooper like the youthful Ruroc brand
I got my first bike at 25 last year. Its so fun yet nerve racking at the same time but thats part of the thrill. Hope you get it soon. Keep it rubber side down.
Take a motorcycle safety course. 95 percent of the fatalities in serious injuries occur in the first year of arriving. Be careful at left turn intersections.
I will say as far as club patches there are MCs and MCCs in the Uk most MCCs in the UK have what we call a front or side patch where there clubs logo is placed on the side or front of the cut normally without top and bottom rockers although some have side rockers and the MCC will often have the name of the club on a bar patch on the front of the vest can very what side that bar is on
For next year I want to rock the cowboy punk style, Since these wide legs pants came back into fashion, and the biker thing has re-emerged with the next movie The Bikeriders, I predict that this will be a trend for 2024
Professional motorcycle crasher here. If you care about your quality of life after a crash, get gloves with a plastic/TPU or Superfabric palm slider. I've crashed with and without them and they make the difference between shattering your wrist, snapping an arm and simply dusting yourself off and walking away.
This video was cool. You seem to do a lot of videos within your wheelhouse; pun intended. I would love to see some more underground fashion like African American Jazz and Hip-hop eras and the various iterations of the Punk scene.

One of the worst things about “biker style” is the stigma that sometimes comes with wearing gear. 1) helmet always (personal opinion: only full face acceptable) 2) jacket/riding pants/boots aren’t only for scaredy cats. Two of my biggest regrets from my time riding are wrecking and not wearing full gear even though i have it. At the time of my accident, i only had a helmet and gloves to protect me (and the good man upstairs)
We went to a church in downtown Columbus one time, and we saw this Guy in his motorcycle dark leather jacket all the good stuff, we where like ohh noh here comes the trouble, come to find out hes the priest, what a crazy turn of events, now i have a motorcycle
I think truckers had a similar culture in the 70s/80s. The counterculture/freedom on the highway/outlaw thing. As a truck driver myself I think that’s kinda cool.

Yoi didnt have to have license....But i had a Legal Tag.... wouldn't have changed anything. SYLO
I don't know usually their behind me cause they all ride harelys ,I do know this though they hate being passed and will try to catch up to you but the only time I was caught up to was at a gas station and they asked me if I was in a hurry ,I replied with I get 20 miles to the gallon if I'm lucky and every fuel stop counts.
I have seen people die from wearing a full face helmet. A turtle is the best thing for visibility and will still save you in a crash. You have to see and hear what is around you at all times

@@ArtofStability he does have a harley, its a street glide if im not mistaken, but for some reason prefer his shadow.
@@_.1447 can’t be a 1% club from the sounds of it
He said it, but I'll say it again due to how important it is.
Moreover, if you're not a bandido, why would you want to wear their colors anyway? .
Lastly, a 1%er once said, "you can wear anything you want if your balls are big enough"
Be careful out there.
Speaking on patches, I seen an MC with the Top Rocker that was the Geography Location, and the Bottom Rocker was the Club Name.
Triumph makes some great old style leather jackets. Got one for both me and the wife. She has a Bonneville T100.
Good video for newbies. Thank you for doing what you do
Finally some good representation of my people in the media 😂😂
Bikers favorite episodes 😂
Thank you for this! These type of videos from people that know what they’re talking about when it comes to our MC Culture💯
Thanks for the video. What made you stop riding?
Hahaha wing patches!! Never been to a wing party, wouldn’t want to go.
Coming from a MC I appreciate the correct information on this vid, great work.
You don’t dress for the ride.
You dress for the crash.
I dress for looking good in a Coffin💀🦇
You almost had it right. You dress for the slide.
@@crypto_que agreeably better👍🏻💀
Always dress for the slide
Road rash isnt fun
The style now is bulky textile waterproof, airbag vests gauntlet gloves that have external exo skeleton on the fingers and casual urban icon motorcycle hoodies for young riders.
Full face helmets looking like a storm trooper like the youthful Ruroc brand
Please sir..your best recommendations for riding leather
I usually try 40s rider style or full neoretro black corpo depending on the mood.
Great timing with this video!!
Im 25, and I'm planning to get my first motorcycle.
Im looking at getting a Royal Enfield INT650 in chrome red
I got my first bike at 25 last year. Its so fun yet nerve racking at the same time but thats part of the thrill. Hope you get it soon. Keep it rubber side down.
Take a motorcycle safety course. 95 percent of the fatalities in serious injuries occur in the first year of arriving. Be careful at left turn intersections.
Always well researched and presented work.
Hell yea! Got a picture 2:11 of someone from the Yellow Jackets MC. Im currently a prospect for them. YJMC Hellbound!
I'm in an MC and was waiting to call you out but you nailed it. Nicely done.
You forgot "MC", that don't stand for MotorCycle... And that patch make a great difference...
Good morning, first of all sorry for my English. I'm Sergio, from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I wanted to know what happened with the TH-cam channel in Spanish, and if they are going to upload content again since I thought it was the best I have seen and it has helped me evolve a lot. Thank you very much in advance.. keep up the great work. good year.
😢
biker here since 2018
Great video. And dont leave home without a great fragrance, lol.
Less expensive alternative still! Haven't owned a car in over a year now. 75 bucks a year for insurance. Never going back to a car.
One of the worst things about “biker style” is the stigma that sometimes comes with wearing gear.
1) helmet always (personal opinion: only full face acceptable)
2) jacket/riding pants/boots aren’t only for scaredy cats.
I was married by a Christian biker.
Thanks for the video.
Oorah!
You didn't mention the punk use of leather jackets. Was taken to another level!
Because they are awesome. Especially choppers.
I always turn when I hear them down a street to show my love and hope to see them rock on by if I can see them past the cars👍🏻🖤
Hahaha. On my bike in my DriRider jacket and Draggin' cargo pants, slouched into my Harley, I look like a Womble.
I think truckers had a similar culture in the 70s/80s. The counterculture/freedom on the highway/outlaw thing. As a truck driver myself I think that’s kinda cool.
Lancer is based on WW2 Hartman luftwaffe jacket. 😊
Great video !
Very cool video!
I ride Indian chief motorcycles I'm in My 40s and love that 40s 50s aviator / Marlon Brando Elvis style. I love avirex bomber jackets. I own quite a few some with pin up girl in the back of the jacket's. Very vintage replica from the o.g. my favorite is My B3 with the sheep fur collar. I have quite a few 80s vintage biker jackets & Indian leather jackets. I own 5 bike's 😎 live to Ride Ride to live!👍
I need that Challenger.
Harley-Davidson. Live to ride, ride to live.
So as an eighty-two year old. I have been in style, all these years. Ain't I neat.
Can any of you blokes recommend a decent solid black motorcycle jacket!? I ride a cruiser! I like the old school style! I bought a black leather jacket off a website and wasnt pleased! Im waiting to go to an actual leather shop or company!
I started riding when i was 4 yrs old, Now in my 60's . Remember when Easyriders came out...my older brother took me to see it.....75cents to go to the walk in....Use to ride my motorcycles to school in the 8th , 9th 10th , 11th grade.. Yoi didnt have to have license....But i had a Legal Tag.... wouldn't have changed anything. SYLO
the double rider came from German air pilots in WW2 and made popular for bikers by the Brits
For the younger crowd. Style = drip
Antionio I love your racer jacket. What is it?
That's why I start every conversation in men's restrooms with: " WROOM WROOM , BRAP, BRAP. BOP BOP BOP BRAAAP".
😉
Wow in 67 years I never thought of myself as ''Stylish'' But I take exception to the word ''Biker''... I am a motorcyclist .
We do try.
If I remember correctly, the original 1% patch was actually a square.
The helmet thing, maybe the think that if you going down, let it be what it be, freedom?
I have seen people die from wearing a full face helmet. A turtle is the best thing for visibility and will still save you in a crash. You have to see and hear what is around you at all times
Good video .
You Put Freddie Dobbs at 00:24. I like it so much. he is a true stylish Biker.
I just wore the boots I wore on the ship. Bates.
