I just traded a glc 300 for a x3 m40i and I can honestly tell you that Mercedes quality felt cheap and didn't offer a lot of features. The Mercedes kept rattling and made creaking noise from the wood and plastic trims. The BMW overall felt more solid .
Exactly the same experience here. My leased GLC43 felt very cheap - squeaking door panels, infamous crabbing issue, and rattling in the salon when temperature reached below 0. Terrible for a 90k car. Got Audi A4 Allroad after that and it’s day and night. No squeaks or rattles. Drove regular X3 and it’s a much better built car.
I own both cars, the merc is a lemon. The interior seems more plasticy. I have the 202 0 BMW. It’s all digital. The BMW handles corners better and sounds better on the other hand the merc is more comfortable in the back sit. You do 0-60 in 3.8 sec not this 4.6 in the BMW you are saying. The merc is slower and can’t do sharp turns. I’m actually trading it in for the Porsche and keeping the BMW.
Hold on. So the 2020 BMW X3M does 0-60 in 4.1 seconds, and you're saying the 2020 M40i does 0-60 in 3.8 seconds? This doesn't sound right... Unless you've modified the engine on the 2020 M40i, which you haven't mentioned anywhere in your comment.
I have the 2021 GLC 43...its faster than the new BMW X3m40i on paper and when actually driving...you can disagree but overall I drove both and liked both...but ended up with the GLC 43...
I have a 23 x3M40i , I test driven the 21 GLC43, and you’re right. The x3 feels faster than the GLC43. BMW definitely under rated their HP. I was going to get the GLC. It was my first choice, but I absolutely love my x3 tho
Both of them are good , but mercedes is more expensive always especially amg models, I couldn't afford it and bought x4 m40i and I absolutely love it! I am talking about used ones 2019s
I drove both cars this weekend back to back. I am surprised that you never talk about the everyday usability of these cars. E.g. GLC 43 AMG's exhaust starts to get annoying after 30min or how firm the ride is whatever mode you select. Whereas the BMW gets quiet if you select "Eco-pro" and the suspension setting is firm, but not annoying. Also, get the consumption facts right, M40i claimed highway consumption is not 10lt/100km but 7.7lt. Even combined is 9.1 whereas Mercedes claims 10.7 for GLC 43 AMG. Also inside X3 is way spacious than GLC especially at the back row. I agree with your other comments, still BMW is a clear winner considering everyday usage and the performance it provides.
"Just because you have an SUV doesnt mean it has to be boring!" Absolutely! I was getting into x5s when I came across your vids and ended up getting a '12 x5 35d. Definitely not a boring ride. I hope that torque steer you experienced was a fluke on the X3. The main reason I dislike fwd vehicles.
I stand corrected. I didn’t realize you were the same guy with the soul patch that I watched review the M40i a week ago. Too many videos out there of people commenting on a bunch of pictures, apologies for lumping you in with them.
ExoticCar PlayPlace You didn’t answer the question at all. I am seriously considering the X3 M40i but I know a X3M car is coming. I know the X3M has a bunch more HP but What other M performance parts will the X3M car have that the M40i doesn’t have?
coolvideo28 A much higher price tag and HP ranging from 473 in the M to 503 in the M Competition. I’ve owned my M40i for about a month and a half now and I think it’s the best balance of practicality and performance for the money.
Prices would've been much more comparable if he compared it to the X4 m40i since he's using the coupe model for the benz. Besides for price and looks, everything else is pretty much the comparable.
After 4 weeks I find the BMW too stiff for every day driving despite eliminating the run flats and running my tires at 29 psi. On uneven concrete it bounces. Have not driven the Mercedes.
@@ECPP - The AMG is actually cheaper, but still, I think if BMW actually made an x3M proper model, it would be a better comparison. Too bad they don't.
This is actually a direct comparison. C43 AMG isn't a full AMG like the C63 engine. The m40i engine isn't a full M either. The C43 matches with the M40i and C63 matches with the full X3 M that will be out very soon.
@@matreyia X3 M will be out around spring time along with the X3 M competition. I believe the X3 M competition matches with the GLC 63 S AMG with both of them having the same horsepower just a bit over 500. The regular X3 M along with the GLC 63 AMG horsepower is just under 500.
That Nav system is just f king annoying, heated steering in SoCal for what keeping a taco warm...does your igloo have a heated toilet seat? F-K no I bet??
The Benz is not 4.9 seconds you are wrong and the engine bay shown is not the GLC43 but GLC300. The 0 to 60 time for the Benz is 4.3 seconds (car and driver). I have same car and I have a video of it posting 4.1 to 4.2 seconds to 60mph. Check out my video under the name ayod orgu. Type GLC43 AMG 0 to 60 and you will see the time. I have raced same BMW and I beat it by full car length to 60 mph. Get your facts straight before posting inaccurate information.
Its completely wrong when you say M40i is not a real M. It is a real M, just toned down. They off 2 versions, one a complete beast for track and going crazy, the other one M40i if you wanna drive it daily and also have a little fun when you don't have kids and wife in the car. The different in straight 0-60 is only a couple of seconds..may be 3 according to BMW.

let's be real, ya gonna be smiling when you get out of either of these rides
Totally agreed
What is your take on BMW X3 m40d G01, I find their mPG to be great and a good contender, is the B57 as good as the B58?

Thanks a lot, much appreciated. Have an awesome day.

Thank God someone mentioned that the flat bottom steering in Mercedes is not heated. Everyone fails to mention that.

You are showing 2 liter four cylinder engine for Mercedes-AMG GLC 43
that's right
Bmw 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Awesome comparison. AMG GLA45 is very high on my list of potential summertime rides.

The X3 disappointingly has McPherson strut front suspension compared to double wishbone on the merc
But only one of them is built in Germany.

You're comparing an AMG with an Msport trim...not an actual M car. So this isn't apples to apples.
Somewhat true but spec to spec, this is the closest match between brands. Next GLC down does not even compare in terms of performance.
