Considering very close numbers, I assumed the result for both cameras is supposed to be very close, but that wasn't the case. RLC-811A sees significantly less then Wyze Cam! Out of curiosity, I decided to measure FOV of both cameras. I placed them both at 1m from the wall to the front edge of the camera and measured what they see. with these poe cameras , do you get event notifications? edit: looks like i got my answer 2 minutes in . nice , wish i could go with poe but it’s pretty expensive …
Actually not with Reolink. You can mix and match cameras..you don’t even have to get the 4K..they also sell 5MP cams systems which are more affordable. The main thing about PoE or NVR cameras are wiring the Ethernet cables.
yeah exactly like he said, I think decent reolink cams are like 50-60 bucks. Whereas blink wireless cams are like 90 bucks when not on sale. So despite way better quality video feeds, and the ability to record 24/7, the reolinks are actually cheaper cam for cam. As lifehackster said though, the catch is they need to be wired. I figure assume another $100 to wire them (Cat 6 cable, RJ 45 connectors, POE switch, in my case fishing tape etc). If you run an NVR that seems like another $200. Personally I already have two blink cams, wireless doorbell etc, and I'm not trying to build fort knox my house is small, so I'm just going to get 1-2 reolinks and run them off SD card, no NVR. Which granted SD cards is another expense but can be pretty cheap. With Blink cams you still need a sync module, a USB stick to record too as well. Now these 811A's run $110 I think, but it's a case of paying a little more to get really top quality video and the 5X zoom, two way audio etc. I think. Basically they are like 80%-90% as good as $1000 cameras that I can see according to reviews, so they are a great value proposition for a very reasonable price.
I’m pretty certain I am going to purchase 4 of the reolink 811a cameras for around my property with the NVR system to go with it. I’ve seen the Ethernet cables that come in the box look very very small. Do you think I will need to buy 4 seperate much longer Ethernet cables to that I set these cameras up? If so is there any particular Ethernet cable I will need? Any further information would be greatly appreciated
Nice review! Was wondering if you could include power consumption of nvr during standby and when cameras activated. I understand nvrs can consume up to 50 watts continuously which is almost as much as the refrigerator. In California electricity around $0.30 per KWh. Also how noisy is nvr with HDD and fan spinning?
From the latest Amazon review, it does not have a fan and earlier version does have a fan. this particular camera and others high end 4k with optical zoom feature only works with nvr -8 Channel 410 model
I currently have a Zmodo setup with 2 cameras per Ethernet cord. Do you know how many wires the Reolink Camera's utilize? I see that it has a standard RJ45 plug but I would like to know if it is using all 8 wires? Zmodo's were POE but only used 4 of the 8 Ethernet wires which allowed me to use 2 cameras per cable run.
@lifehackster how’s the night vision on this cam compared to the competition. I saw mixed feedbacks. I’m concerned if I buy this one as I’ve a Argus 3 Pro. Great day video quality, but at night it’s really miserable. Also, It’s slow regardless if I’m using a 1gb internet speed, using a SD pro card and Wifi 6 connectivity.
Hi I’m trying to buy a camera system for my house. I’ve been watching your videos. I need something good quality with night vision and two way talk. It would be nice if it has siren. I only have the cat 5 wire installed in my wall. What can you recommend?
Do you think this will work on a powerline adapter? I want one however, a powerline adapter is the only way I can place it where I want. Thanks…and another great video.

Are there really no thumbnails for the recorded videos in the playback? I thought all their new cameras would have this? My cheaper RLC-510A even has it.
@@LifeHackster Hmm, really? Part of my issue is that it's never really clear *which* of their models have low light sensors. I have their PoE doorbell and it's excellent without IR LEDs, but it's also not advertised as having a low light sensor.

Lorex if you want somewhat acceptable night quality video
I care more about night
with these poe cameras , do you get event notifications?
edit: looks like i got my answer 2 minutes in . nice , wish i could go with poe but it’s pretty expensive …
Would you recommend this over the Lorex Fusion System??
I think so even with Lorex having rich notifications.
It is ok not great. It is mostly the frame rate which goes down more than half than in daytime. But it is still better than any WIFI camera footage.
Hi I’m trying to buy a camera system for my house. I’ve been watching your videos. I need something good quality with night vision and two way talk. It would be nice if it has siren. I only have the cat 5 wire installed in my wall. What can you recommend?
Would this work to stream bird feeding to TH-cam?
Can I zoom in on a detection or saved footage?
Do you think this will work on a powerline adapter? I want one however, a powerline adapter is the only way I can place it where I want. Thanks…and another great video.
Hi, LifeHackster l bought 4 month ago a RLC-811A l hooked it up with a SD 256GB card to record when it sense motion, but for the past three days it’s not recording to the SD. Do you have any fix for this problem?
How much can screenshot preview notifications cost them, _really..._ pretty basic feature missing.
Hey man I just got Reolink cameras installed yesterday and 3 out of my 4 cameras are detecting motion but my back yard one isn’t
Are there really no thumbnails for the recorded videos in the playback? I thought all their new cameras would have this? My cheaper RLC-510A even has it.
Do you ever review a camera in starlight mode, with IR LEDs off? Because that would help a lot.
Yes, I do if they have Starlight or lowlight Sensors...the 811A doesn't have a low light sensor.
@@LifeHackster Hmm, really? Part of my issue is that it's never really clear *which* of their models have low light sensors. I have their PoE doorbell and it's excellent without IR LEDs, but it's also not advertised as having a low light sensor.
@@KaldekBoch They only have 1 lowlight model at this time and it is on their ColorX line the CX410…now their older Argus WiFi cameras used to the have a starlight sensor.
@@LifeHackster but the doorbell is amazing in low light without any LEDs. So that's...unofficial?
How do you update the firmware? I am using the mobile reolink app. The issie with my cam is as you had mentioned in the video that my camera detects the parked car as a detection object and notifies and changes to night vision mode.
Could you do a review on H.265 cameras. In everything I look at it seems they are not better than a 4K camera. From your video I'm looking
at buying 8MP/4K 8CH NVR with 2TB HDD for 24-7 Recording. I'm not really understanding the H.265. In a nutshell....I want a minimum 8mp 4K camera REOLINK.
Could you recommend one of their systems. Thanks
Can the camera be set to always be on zoom and its will record zoomed video? My aim is to instal this camera to control an entrance at 100m away from the camera?
Yes. But check out my latest video on the RLC 823A 16X…I think that one would be better for your needs…16x zoom.
@@LifeHackster many thanks
@@LifeHackster Thanks for your suggestion.
Do you know if the two way audio works with the Windows App?
Yes it does.
