    Love that you took the time to demo this. One thing to remember is depending on your pack type you might need to pay very close attention to how the shape turns out, especially the side that faces your back. No fun having lumpy hotspots for miles on miles.

    The tent is the densest pack so it should go in the middle of the back. 😊

    Good video, I'm similar that I like to get all the big stuff in first and then fill in the gaps with smaller items, it's always amazes how much you can fit in. We did the walk last September and my mate did the first day with the tent strapped to outside, with some shoving, some pushing and reorganization he was able to fit it inside his pack from there on. I'm not a lover of hanging stuff on the outside. If you haven't experienced the new huts yet you're in for a treat, especially if you get a seat that staring windows in Windermere and Kiora

      Packing is like a puzzle, isn't it? Always trying to fit everything in just right. Happy to hear you enjoyed the video! Definately looking forward to checking out all of the new huts!

    I just liked it without watching first, and I'm watching now. Good to see new content from you come up, particularly when I'm on the tram on the way in to the office.

      I ended up taking 1 x snakebite bandage which doubles as a ankle/knee bandage. Believe it or not I have twice seen snakes in this area in n snow albeit in the spring.

    Excellent video as always. I appreciate your demonstrating packing for locations that require layers for a cold and wet environment. A lot of backpacking videos assume warm and dry weather. Also, bear-proof food containers, essential in many locations in the US, definitely complicate packing and I'm envious that you don't have to worry about that.

    • @Shveet
      @Shveet หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yup. some places wont allow Ursack - style bear proof bags so it's really awkward to try and fit a bear canister

      Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! I'll keep the diverse packing tips coming. I often do wonder how it would change my packing if I had to carry a Bear Canister. Will learn some day when I come to do some North American Hiking!

    Heading out next weekend to Kluane territorial park! have been dry fitting my bag the last couple of days and folding the sleeping mat (personally run the thermarest x-lite) is one tip that i'm certainly happy to be able to take away from this video! Thanks for the great tips, have a safe trip!

    Real quick, I have the Minimo and you can actually store the stove and your canister inside the pot if you orientate it correctly. It's difficult to see if you're using the larger size or not but with the smaller canister, the top part of the stove nests onto the bottom of the canister and the whole unit fits in sideways in the Minimo. You don't have to leave your fuel loose like that and hopefully save you some additional space.

    Tetris Puzzle. What do you do with the tent after day 1 when it has been used and may be wet? Pack it outside the inner liner on top?

    • @mowsertas
      @mowsertas  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Correct. I generally store inside a waterproof stuff sack and then pack it outside the packliner between the pack liner and pack.

  • @travismitchell5771
    @travismitchell5771 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Question Mowser- seems like a fair bit of stuff still on top of tent once you get to camp? You have to pull out 4-5 small bags plus jackets etc. on ground to setup tent? Is that just ‘life’ as you may still need access to all that stuff throughout day? Asking having not done multi days yet…

      Despite bits and pieces of gear etc still on the tent in the pack, its' still pretty easy to reach and pull the tent out without having to throw the other stuff on the ground. If it's really wet then the tent is the last thing to go in and sits on the outside of the packliner so i don't need to open the pack liner at all to get it out. Will do a video 'in the field at some stage to demonstrate!

    That pack is leaning way back. And you are leaning way forward to compensate. There are no actual load lifters on this pack I would be hesitant to use one. I've got a whitney 95 it's probably a heavier pack but it does have load lifters and a proper suspension system and you cam adjust your pack over your center of gravity so the weight is over your center of gravity and you can adjust it when you walk it usually needs a bit of tweaking while I'm walking to dial it in. I dont see that 9n these lighter packs. 😊

    • @mowsertas
      @mowsertas  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Lack of load lifters was my main concern when I purchased this in 2020 but I haven't found it to be an issue. Never had any shoulder or chest soreness and have found it to be really good. Don't really miss my other packs 😀

    Hi Mowser, thanks for the great video. The food looks like a lot. What do you put in the hip belt pockets and added front pocket? And is the front pocket just made of mesh? Cheers, Aileen

    • @mowsertas
      @mowsertas  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I broke my own rules on this trip and carried too much food. In the pockets I generally carry a small bag of scroggin/trail mix and a total of 3 snack bars(Clif bars, muesli bars). I could fit all that in 1 belt pocket. I also carry my phone and an additional action cam in the other hip pocket and shoulder pocket the front pocket is a combination of Dyneema mesh and fabric and holds up pretty well in dense scrub.

    How long before a trip do you keep your pack packed? Just the night before or a few days earlier?

    • @mowsertas
      @mowsertas  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I generally do a test pack about a week before. Then I unpack it all and leave it in a large box until the day or two before I go which is when I do my final pack.
