Hey Jack! Great video as always!
In your experience how big of a nerf is the 3 card hand limit for the Mortiani after using atomics? It always makes me pretty hesitant to use atomics (as im sure intended) because it seems like a big risk if I lose a good hand in a battle.
Also what was the choice design wise to implement it? for that reason, as its super powerful to make anyone hesitant to use it or was there another reason?
Moritani are such a delight to play. I love the terror tokens as far as negotiations go! I think they're my favourite faction. I feel like an evil artedies - who are often bartering for card information, im often bartering to allow safe passage past the terror tokens.

Hi Jack, quick questions, since I hadn't noticed the nuance of battles with Ecaz not counting towards their 2 battles for gaining Vidal:
    1) I imagine a battle against a co-occupying ally with Ecaz troops wouldn't count either, even if the ally is the designated battler, right?
    2) However, I imagine a battle only against Ecaz' ally, if no Ecaz troops co-occupy, would count, right?
    3) I guess if Vidal could be gained by Moritani, there's nothing preventing him being the leader against Ecaz or Ecaz' ally, right?

      1- Correct.
      2- Correct.
3- If Moritani have gained him, he can be used in any battle they have that turn.

I've only played Moritani twice so far, but my friends both love and hate how they change the board and emphasize the value of alliances when they come up.
One thing I've been trying which has been fun is convincing one other not to form an alliance at a nexus and instead we both take nexus cards with the intention of trying to use them before they trigger my terror token and we ally up. Not sure if that's allowed or not.

Hey Jack, I got a quick question for you, can either of the following trigger terror tokens; Tleilaxu sending forces with their homeworld High Threshold or Atredies adding forces with their homeworld High Threshold?

Played with the Moritani for the first time today and seeing them blow up Carthag, their allies and that alliance chances to win felt like a misplay.
BTW where the Moritani mechanics inspired by House Ordos from the Westwood Dune RTS games? Terror token very much feels like the shady shit the Ordos would get up to.

By the way, can the Moritani terror tokens be swept away by the storm? E.g. they placed a token in Arrakeen, someone blew up the Shield Wall, and the storm passed over Arrakeen

The Mortani alliance advantage, is that only for allies or does it apply to Mortani as well?

    Ecaz planet
    "OCCUPIED:
Occupier or their ally gains Duke Vidal (and may revive him from the Tanks),overriding Ecaz and Moritani's Duke Vidal advantage."
    Moritani
    "DUKE VIDAL:
You gain Duke VIdal at the end of Shipping and Movement if you are in at least two battles in strongholds (not counting battles involving Ecaz) if he is not in the Tanks, taking him from any faction currently controlling him. Set him aside at the end of the turn if he's not in the Tanks or captured."
    1) While Ecaz planet is occupied, is gaining the Duke Vidal from the occupied bonus a one a time trigger or is it a recurring effect every turn?
    2) What does Ecaz planet occupied effect " overriding Ecaz and Moritani's Duke Vidal advantage mean"? Does it block Moritani's DUKE VIDAL advantage effect from triggering while another non-Moritani/non-Ecaz player occupies Ecaz planet?

Every turn. And override means override. Occupier has ultimate control.

Moritani advantage will not trigger? This effect seems to be way too powerful. Disabling 2 factions while have unlimited uses for Duke Vidal without him dying. Will there ever be an errata on this planet effect? I was Moritani player and fighting against player who stole this leader half way through the game, and this player who gets Duke Vidal has wipe out the board while all other leaders and forces are in the tanks. How does it make thematic sense in the Dune world that this Duke can be so powerful with his individual raw power and can resurrect himself unlimited times without zero penalties; he might as well be God Emperor of the Dune world. All the other leaders cost a ton of spice to bring back and permanently get removed from the game dying 2nd time. Why does Moritani faction have to suffer so much if Ecaz makes the mistake of not defending their planet.

@@pandemonic66 The Moritani effect is not easy to trigger- sure getting into two strongholds to fight isn't hard, but you don't always want to. The Ecaz effect to gain Vidal is also not guaranteed to happen when they want it to happen. Unlimited uses of Vidal is also not exactly accurate. An occupier would have one use of him in a game turn. Then they would need to still occupy Ecaz the next turn, and if Vidal was killed, have the spice to pay to revive him. As to thematics, I find it to be very thematic. Vidal was self-serving and conniving. If another great house occupied Ecaz, Vidal would absolutely be in cahoots with them. And to be clear, Vidal doesn't resurrect himself. And why should Moritani suffer at the hands of Ecaz? If you've read those books, you must surely know why.

    • @pandemonic66
      @pandemonic66 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

Didn't you say that occupied effect works every turn? It says you may bring the Duke from the tanks? The way it was written, It sounds like freebie effect with zero restrictions. Does this effect not override the permanent death face down rule or ignore the cost?
The 2 faction have so much depending on this Duke Vidal, that I find it disappointing that you would that make into the game mechanics. If you want to follow thematic settings to mess up other factions, why not have other factions losing their advantage when their planet is taken over to make it more fair.
