She is so super well spoken OMG!!!!
You are so kind. Thank you :)
Nothing beats the For Riel News moto!
Thank you for sharing your story! I was a graduate student in the U.S. 20 years ago and met someone there, but had to move back to Singapore when my visa lapsed. We tried long distance for 6 months but without a clear path to settling in one place, the relationship ended. Since then, I've (successfully) avoided long distance relationships. I can't imagine the tenacity and patience you and your ex-partner must have had to continue a long distance relationship for 5 years, and the hoops you've had to jump through to get the MM2 visa. I'm sorry to hear the relationship didn't work out, but I'm happy to know you've found someone in KL! I guess when one door closes, a window does open!
On a different note, I managed to read a book you recommended, The Gift of Rain. Loved it! I've already read The Garden of Evening Mist, and will try to find time for The House of Doors in the future. I haven't been to KL in probably over 10 years, and hope to get the chance to visit soon.
Thanks so much for your comments! 😊
well said Suan Chim, good job!
ANDREW I love learning more about you and your life. Thank you for sharing with us, I know it’s not easy to open up here on TH-cam (I often get roasted😅) but I am so happy you did. Greetings from Melaka! 💕
Hi Lauren, we will meet in person one day! 😂
Taylor - alway entertaining. Sad to agree with you about the political situation in the US. Unfortunately, i do not see it getting any better. I'm looking forward to living overseas as well. Your story serves as an inspiration to me and i look forward to retirement in Malaysia (soon! 😁). More interviews please!
Thank you so much! 😊
👍Thanks Andy! At some point might you be able to mention a bit about how you and your perceptions of life and the world might have changed since moving to Malaysia, and perhaps about dating and finding partner when older and retiring to Malaysia?
Great idea 😊
@@andrewtaylor4558 Cool... Looking forward to it.
@@andrewtaylor4558looking forward to it too!
Restaurant food prices often increase because wages are going up and that's a good thing. Food service workers should make enough to support themselves. I'm happy to pay a bit more when I know the staff is getting paid better or the funds are going to improve the business.
I agree Linda!
Not only wages, food cost after Ukraine war started , caused inflation.
@@rafaelw8115 Malaysia isn’t a Muslim country. The population is predominantly Muslim. Plenty of pork in Malaysia!
Uhm. I wonder where are these wage increase when it comes to me 🤭 because my wages has hardly increase. I find Malaysian businesses to be short sighted to be honest. Many times they spend their money on ridiculous, unnecessary stuff but when it comes to wage increase they don't have the money. And then when the employee retention is low they wonder why. Lol. I have worked at least at 5 companies already and the pattern is always the same. I do see a lot of wage increase for low income earners but there is literally zero increase for middle income earners. My prediction is pretty soon the middle income earners in Malaysia will perish if nothing changes.
My niece who started working at Starbucks this year is making 80% of what I am making as an executive in my 30s and with 8 years working experience. If only I knew what the future would become, I wouldn't have studied at the university and getting myself indebted only to know that a minimum wage worker who started working yesterday is making almost as much salary as me working in a professional line at a large company with far more experience than them. The pay scale in Malaysia doesn't make any sense and it's time we put these businesses accountable.
@@rafaelw8115 63% muslim. The rest is made up of other religions. You can find pork most anywhere in Malaysia.
I like your frankness explaining about the needs here.❤
Thank you! 😃
Wonderful interview. I hope your love life good. Beautiful lodge.
Terrific video Taylor....awesome what brought you to KL ...life is full of surprises
Thanks Hayden!
Great video, Taylor! Claire is an excellent interviewer - well done! Thanks for preparing and posting the video. - Mark O.
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Taylor is the best! Give him a raise!
That was cute. Nice to learn a bit more about Taylor. I think this interview could've been longer. Also, loved the techno music at the end with the lodge tour.
Glad you enjoyed it! It was so hot tho so that’s all we could do. 😂
What a beautiful setting for an interview. I really enjoyed it. Thank you and Claire for sharing.

😊 thank you
Its nice to know that Earl Grey is enjoying the exercise up and down the stairs 😂. You are right about the food prices being quite high.
Absolutely!!
Claire has got a great voice. She would make an awesome news anchorwoman.
Yes!
Haha there's an idea! :)
@@ForRiel You can be the sole anchor of an English speaking channel that reports on news in the kingdom.
Thank you, Mr Taylor for your lovely content & promoting my country Malaysia, to the world.
Thank you for all the wonderful videos, cheers from Lee and David forever
Glad you like them! 😊
Taylor you mentioned long distance relationships. In my 20s I had a long distance relationship with someone....USA to Vietnam. After about four years we decided to make it official. In 2004 I married Co Pham Thai Duong in her hometown of Ho Chi Minh City. She now resides with me in the USA. She is working as an accountant. I am an an engineer. In 2024, we will have been married 20 years.
BTW. We are talking about relocating back to Vietnam potentially.
Wonderful story. So happy for you! 🤗
Have you ever considered K. L??
Thank you Taylor for the wonderful video and beautiful green lush setting. So much enjoy your very informative interview. 😊
You are so welcome! 😊

Few things here: great background of this vid. Earl of Grey missed you so much. Missed your Vespa bike which cool to move around in KL. Have good rest once you're back in Malaysia so your body will charge up again. Cheers Andy
Thanks 😊
Great video again Taylor.. I've just shared on my fb❤🇲🇾
Thanks for sharing!!
Nice to see your interview and that place looks beautiful !❤😊
It really is!
You sound like you had a bad cold, hope it is now over. Me as a Malaysian, used to think that Thailand and her neighbouring countries is better that Malaysia but after 16 years there,I find Malaysian people are the reason I am happy to be back for. Yes here the services can be a bit slow.and annoying sometimes but it is great place to be.
Thank you for this video. Wonderful. Very nice to hear about your story and experience.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@andrewtaylor4558 😄
Nice to know more about you Taylor. What other places in SE Asia have you been?
All around! Thailand, Vietnam, Hong King, China. More to see tho!
@@andrewtaylor4558Do you like them all? Would you consider living in any?
@@koufax174 I would consider Siem Reap, Cambodia. 😊
@@andrewtaylor4558🙏🏼
@@loverofsong9830 Not at all! It would be the same or less but it’s not as far along with infrastructure.
This was great fun even though we were sweating SO much! Thank you for the roasting opportunity :)
Yes, I left that part in on purpose! 😂
@@andrewtaylor4558 I'm sure Coleen would have pointed it out 😂😂😂

Hahahaha, that sweaty climate is perhaps my #1 fear as I contemplate moving from Nor-Cal where we rarely sweat unless jogging or exercising vigorously.

You are so kind
Lovely man, Claire you did a wonderful job interviewing Taylor. So entertaining!
Thank you so much 😊
Interesting video Taylor..
I like to see you appreciate and giving views and opinions about this under-rated Malaysia🇲🇾..I really respect you for that..
Btw.. you're unique and not a star , literally Earl Grey is a star..😻.
Yes, he is the star!
Why nobody is mentioning Ipoh, Perak (State) so underrated City for expats. Awesome place to stay. Low cost living, Food abundance : Lots of eatery street food in food courts, shop restaurants owners operate etc..., Wet Markets (Local Farm Vegetables & Fruits). Low Rentals buyers market, Quiet Living, Nature Outdoor Activities, Government Built Sports (Public Swimming Pool, Bicycle, Motorbiking, Beaches, Hill Climb, Cameron Highlands 1 Hour 30 minutes car drive etc...)
Good point!
I live on the 5th floor. Our balcony is facing a small forestry and my cats literally lives in the balcony watching birds and all. One of the brave one, jump and try to catch the bird on the rail and fell. Luckily, he landed on 2nd floor awning and the kind hearted 3rd floor neighbour save him. A crack bone on back leg and some wound on the mouth/nose area.
Oh wow! That’s scary! 🥲
Love the Earl Grey story. 🥰
Malaysia Truly Asia.......as a Malaysian citizen, l'm PROUD of MALAYSIA 🇲🇾 no matter where l travel around the world l felt so grateful to be back to my home country👍❤

Very good video, good to know the background stories. Have you travelled to Sarawak and Kuching in particular? We've seen they have a lot of festivals - food, music etc.
Yes I have but only once. Need to go again!
Hi Taylor, great interview today! Greg Express Travels
Glad you enjoyed it!
My wife and I will be coming to Malaysia next year, we hope we can meet up with you for lunch.
@@greglewis5880 Sure, email me closer to the time! Taylorboz96@gmail.com
Enjoy your youtubes Taylor. A possible suggestion for a future TH-cam would be best means for social contacts in Kuala Lumpur with expats and locals. I am temporarily in Penang and have joined a number of expat groups which has been great but they are nearly all married couples with very few singles and very few locals. I may spend several months in Kuala Lumpur next year.
Great idea! Thanks 😊
I’m planning on visiting Penang and was hoping to find the same! I was Looking to move to Playa Del Carmen or KL at one time.
Excellent !
Many thanks!

Sorry, if I even had one, it belongs to Nomad Capitalist. All the info is in my videos 😊
Taylor you had a pleasant personality. Hope you succed on your youtube. I didn't know you had KL girlfriend. Show your current girlfiriend to us.
Sorry 😊
Bye...Andrew....always looking for another interesting video.
Great video, very informative. (QUESTION )are you planning to keep Medicare part B on the Us
I never got it. I turned 65 in Malaysia.
Very nice

Gun laws are tough in malaysia. It is life imprisonment.
Yep
Have to correct you bud. Penalty for possession of a gun without authorization is up to 14 years imprisonment and six strokes of the rotan. Section 8 increased penalties act. Life imprisonment applies if an unlicensed gun is used in a crime or is intended to be used in a crime.
Good bless you sir 🇲🇾❤ you
Thanks
Are you coming back to nomad capitalist this year ?
Nope. Once was enough. My mindset is too different. 😂
I’m going. But I bet I’ll feel the same. TBD
Nice place and setting. Claire is a great. So the truth is finally out...sneaky aren't you sir.
You got that right! 😂
I wonder if u could share your thoughts about communicating with Malaysians. Like have u had any difficulties speaking english, do u know any local languages?, or as an english native speaker, what do u think about how the locals speak english. I believe that u must have noticed that not everyone can speak english well, but most of Malaysians can understand english to a certain extend. Could u give some suggestion on how to improve ?.
It’s usually not a problem.
Malaysia are not totally free of crimes but gunshot are very rare. I'm 40 y.o but the real actual gunshot I ever heard in my lifetime before are the local authority shooting a crows 😂
😂😂😂
Welcome home in KL Tailor
Thailand & Vietnam, not so safe , for foreigners. .
There is no place on earth we can call "home " where the heart wants and longs to be. Retirement ?. What's that ?. All are vanities on this temporary, physical, fleeting, and wicked world.
🤔
Having gun in Malaysia without licence is illegal. Only the police & army have it.
@Taylor Can you connect us to some one who do US Expat Taxes living in Malaysia ..?
Sorry, can’t help you there.
Any regrets about moving to Malaysia for retirement?
None! 😊
Bali lagi best
Do you think retiring in Malaysia is better than Thailand?
I do but that is just my opinion.
I love your channel! I would love to move to K.L. but I worry about human rights in that country ( I am transgender) how they would treat me in hospital, how the police would handle me etc. Cheers from Finland.
While I don’t really know the answer to your question. I do know of transgendered people in Malaysia. I’m sure there is more info out there! 😊
@@andrewtaylor4558 Sounds like another topic for future videos...albeit a tough one due to people's prejudices..
